20090095759 | INSERTED THERMAL BARRIER LINER FOR CONTAINERS - A thermal barrier liner is provided to maintain a beverage within a container at a desired temperature. The thermal barrier liner is installed so to make intimate contact with the internal surface of the container. The thermal barrier liner may be provided in various embodiments including a closed cell substrate, a base layer having gas or liquid filled microcapsules, a base layer having microencapsulated solid-liquid phase change material, or combinations thereof. In the closed cell substrate embodiments, when the thermal barrier liner is under pressure within the container such as prior to the container being opened, the thermal barrier liner maintains a minimum profile or thickness. However, when the container is opened and as pressure is released within the container, the barrier liner expands to achieve equilibrium. The expanded or thickened barrier liner provides an effective thermal barrier thereby maintaining the beverage at a desired temperature for a longer period of time. The thermal barrier liner may be formed from some liner materials currently used as protective liners, but supplemented with a foaming agent to create cellular structures. For the embodiment utilizing microencapsulated gas particles, an increase in temperature of the container results in expansion of the microcapsules by virtue of the gas contained therein. For the embodiments utilizing gas or liquid filled microcapsules, voids created by the microcapsules enhance the thermal barrier characteristics of the liner. In accordance with the method of the invention, the liner may be pre-made and mechanically inserted in the container prior to securing the top of the container to the sidewall. In another embodiment, a liner is placed within the container to form an annular gap between the container and the liner. An amount of gas fills the annular gap, thereby providing a thermal barrier to reduce the rate of heat transfer to the liquid within the container. | 04-16-2009 |

20120133406 | Configurable System for Cancellation of the Mean Value of a Modulated Signal - Some embodiments of the invention relate to a DC offset correction circuit comprising a feedback loop having a DAC controlled by a reconfigurable ADC, which determines (e.g., tracks) the mean value of a modulated input signal. The circuit operates according to two phase process. In a first “pre-modulation” tracking phase, an input signal is tracked by the ADC, which is configured to output the input signal's mean value as a digital code equivalent to the input mean value. The output of the ADC is provided to a DAC, which provides an analog representation of the mean value to an adder that subtracts the mean value from the modulated input signal to generate a bipolar adjusted input signal. In a second “modulation” phase, the estimated mean value is held constant, so that the bipolar adjusted input signal may be provided to an activated modulation circuit for improved system performance. | 05-31-2012 |
20120133412 | Square Wave Signal Component Cancellation - Some embodiments of the invention a circuit configured to apply a time domain processing sequence to a modulated input signal to estimate a mean value of the modulated input signal and to subtract the estimated mean value from the modulated input signal, thereby removing the DC offset from the input signal. In one particular embodiment, the time domain processing sequence is based on integration and differentiation of a demodulated output signal. In such an embodiment, a circuit is configured to integrate a demodulated signal to generate an integrated signal having a triangular shaped output signal. The circuit then measures the slopes of the integrated signal, by differentiation of the triangular shaped integrated signal, and generates an appropriate DC offset correction signal based upon the measured slopes. The DC offset correction signal may be added on top of the actual input signal to cancel the unwanted DC offset component. | 05-31-2012 |
20120293258 | INPUT COMMON MODE CIRCUIT FOR A FULLY DIFFERENTIAL AMPLIFIER - This application describes a system for minimizing the common mode voltage drift at the input of a fully differential amplifier. An impedance component is coupled to the inputs and outputs of the differential amplifier. The impedance component optimizes the common mode resistance or impedance to ground without significantly affecting the differential impedance, matches the input common mode voltage to the output common mode voltage and reduces the input common mode voltage drift in presence of leakage currents. | 11-22-2012 |

20090258492 | MULTIPLE SPACER STEPS FOR PITCH MULTIPLICATION - Multiple pitch-multiplied spacers are used to form mask patterns having features with exceptionally small critical dimensions. One of each pair of spacers formed around a plurality of mandrels is removed and alternating layers, formed of two mutually selectively etchable materials, are deposited around the remaining spacers. Layers formed of one of the materials are then etched, leaving behind vertically-extending layers formed of the other of the materials, which form a mask pattern. Alternatively, instead of depositing alternating layers, amorphous carbon is deposited around the remaining spacers followed by a plurality of cycles of forming pairs of spacers on the amorphous carbon, removing one of the pairs of spacers and depositing an amorphous carbon layer. The cycles can be repeated to form the desired pattern. Because the critical dimensions of some features in the pattern can be set by controlling the width of the spaces between spacers, exceptionally small mask features can be formed. | 10-15-2009 |
