20090189070 | ION MOBILITY SPECTROMETER INSTRUMENT AND METHOD OF OPERATING SAME - An ion mobility spectrometer instrument has a drift tube that is partitioned into a plurality of cascaded drift tube segments. A number of electric field activation sources may each be coupled to one or more of the plurality of drift tube segments. A control circuit is configured to control operation of the number of electric field activation sources in a manner that applies switched electric fields at a specified switching rate to the drift tube segments to thereby produce at the ion outlet only ions having a predefined ion mobility or range of ion mobilities. | 07-30-2009 |

20110121171 | ION MOBILITY SPECTROMETER INSTRUMENT AND METHOD OF OPERATION - An ion mobility spectrometer instrument has a drift tube that is partitioned into a plurality of cascaded drift tube segments. A number of electric field activation sources may each be coupled to one or more of the plurality of drift tube segments. A control circuit is configured to control operation of the number of electric field activation sources in a manner that sequentially applies electric fields to the drift tube segments to allow only ions having a predefined ion mobility or range of ion mobilities to travel through the drift tube. The drift tube segments may define a linear drift tube or a closed drift tube with a continuous ion travel path. Techniques are disclosed for operating the ion mobility spectrometer to produce highly resolved ion mobility spectra. | 05-26-2011 |

20130223980 | ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER VANE DESIGN AND VEHICLE SYSTEM - An integrated assembly includes a vehicle bumper system, and upper and lower air shutter sections with subassembled shutter vanes movable between closed and open positions, an actuator mechanism for moving the shutter members between positions. When in the fully open position, the shutter vanes are aerodynamically designed to minimize air drag, both as air flows past the vanes and also during after-vane airflow (and during after-bumper-beam airflow). When in the fully closed vane position, the vanes seal against each other to provide a highly efficient and leak-resistant air-blocking assembly. | 08-29-2013 |

20140265592 | INTERCONNECT DEVICE FOR DETECTING WHETHER A VEHICLE ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS (OBD) DATA PORT INCLUDES CIRCUITRY WHICH PREVENTS BACK FEEDING OF POWER THROUGH THE OBD DATA PORT - An interconnect device is disclosed for detecting whether an vehicle on-board diagnostics (OBD) data port includes a blocking diode or equivalent. that prevents back feeding of power through the OBD data port. If a diode is detected, the interconnect device alerts the user that the power cannot be back fed through the OBD II port connector. In such a condition, an alternate means is used to preserve the data mentioned above. Specifically, an alternative power supply can be connected directly to the battery cables that will be disconnected from the battery, for example, by way of battery clamps. In this way the alternative power supply is used to preserve the data until a new battery is reconnected to the vehicle battery cables. If a diode is not detected by the interconnect device, the interconnect device displays this fact to the user. The interconnect device includes circuitry for detecting and displaying whether a diode is connected in series with a power pin of the OBD II port connector. In addition, the interconnect device includes an OBD II port connector on one end connected by way of a cable to a connector, such as a cigarette lighter connector or hardwired directly to an alternate power supply. | 09-18-2014 |
