20140338882 | HVAC Control for Vehicles with Start/Stop Engines - A vehicle climate control system is provided. The vehicle climate control system allows an occupant in the rear area of a vehicle to control the climate settings in the vehicle. It comprises a front climate interface, a rear climate interface, and a controller. When actuated, the controller disables the front climate interface and allows the rear climate interface to determine the climate settings. The controller is also operative to selectively restart a vehicle engine in order to reduce fuel consumption. The vehicle climate control system may be disabled when the engine is off and selectively enabled when the engine is operating. | 11-20-2014 |
20150210265 | REAR DEFROST CONTROL IN STOP/START VEHICLE - A method for controlling a stop/start vehicle includes commanding an engine auto start in response to a calibratable time interval elapsing after receiving an electric defroster activation request when the engine is auto stopped. The method may further include activating a defroster after the engine has been auto started. The method may additionally include activating a defroster indicator when the electric defroster activation is received. The method may further include inhibiting an engine auto stop in response to an electric defroster activation request when the engine is running and further in response to a battery charge being insufficient to support a predicted current draw, and signaling an alert to a vehicle driver. | 07-30-2015 |

20140083672 | Automatic Recirculation Control for Vehicular HVAC System - Recirculation of air within a passenger cabin by a vehicular HVAC system is controlled to maximize the use of recirculation without causing discomfort from a large air flow around the legs of a passenger located near the cabin air return vent. An automatic recirculation condition is detected in response to first conditions including a window defrost setting. A fogging probability is determined in response to second conditions including a humidity measurement. Occupancy of a passenger seat adjacent the cabin air return vent is detected. A partial recirculation of the return vent is set in response to the fogging probability and the detected occupancy. | 03-27-2014 |
20140157802 | BLOWER CONTROL FOR VEHICLE WITH START-STOP ENGINE - A method for controlling blower speed of an air conditioning system in a vehicle having a start/stop engine. A stop event is entered and an ambient temperature and a second temperature (e.g., evaporator) of the air conditioning system are measured. A first cutback limit is determined in response to the ambient temperature. The blower speed is ramped to the first cutback limit The engine is restarted and the blower speed is restored in response to the second temperature reaching a restart threshold. Consequently, a rise in evaporator temperature is delayed so that any to request by the HVAC system to terminate the stop event is also delayed. | 06-12-2014 |
20140157803 | VEHICULAR HVAC SYSTEM WITH MODIFIED AIR RECIRCULATION FOR START-STOP ENGINE - A method controls a recirculation position of a return vent in an HVAC system for a vehicle with a compressor driven by a start/stop engine. A partial s recirculation position is set according to a basic recirculation strategy while the engine is operating. An auto stop event is entered at a time with the compressor operating. A full recirculation position is set during the stop event if a plurality of low fogging probability indicators are true. The low fogging probability indicators include a sensed ambient temperature being above a predetermined temperature, a sensed state of a windshield wiper being an off state, and a sensed sunload being above a predetermined sunload. | 06-12-2014 |

20150018172 | SMART TRANSMISSION SHIFT DELAY METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CLIMATE CONTROL FOR A VEHICLE - A method and system for the cancellation of transmission shift delay as a function of an optimum target temperature is disclosed. Once the pre-selected optimum target is achieved the shift delay is cancelled and the transmission is upshifted. Thus the disclosed inventive concept is based the cancellation of the shift delay on achieving climate control air conditioning comfort targets. Such comfort targets could include one or more of the measured HVAC evaporator temperature, the HVAC discharge temperature, or the in-vehicle cabin temperatures. When a temperature sensor measuring the selected temperature reaches the pre-selected target temperature the shift delay may be cancelled and the transmission may be upshifted, thus maximizing passenger comfort while minimizing fuel consumption. Having the shift delay based upon the achievement of specific measurable comfort targets in the form of target temperatures rather than a set time period allows optimization between cabin comfort and fuel efficiency. | 01-15-2015 |
