20100301853POLARIZING NUCLEI IN SOLIDS VIA SPIN TRANSFER FROM AN OPTICALLY-PUMPED ALKALI VAPOR - The present invention relates to a method and system for polarizing a solid compound of interest via spin transfer from an optically-pumped alkali vapor. In one embodiment, the method provides a cell which contains a solid compound as well as pure alkali metal and some amount of buffer gas. The cell is heated to vaporize some of the pure alkali. Resonant laser light is passed through the cell to polarize the atomic vapor, a process known as “optical pumping.” Optical pumping can transfer order from photons to atoms, causing a buildup of vapor atoms in one angular momentum state. This vapor polarization is then transferred through the surface of the solid compound in order to polarize the nuclei in the bulk of the compound. This can produce nuclear polarizations in the sample many times larger than the limit set by thermal equilibrium. The method can be used in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). 12-02-2010

The apparatus is connected to the gas flow line and the outlet is connected back into the gas flow line at lower pressure, creating a differential pressure corresponding to the source of motive power for actuating a piston which is directly connected to a plurality of plungers. This plurality of plungers is alternately pushed into and pulled out of corresponding plunger-cylinders for creating an integral drive and pump system prerequisite for gas well site pumping operations. Instead of venting to the atmosphere, well gas is returned to the flow line whereupon only clean air from the self-generated instrument air circuit is vented into the atmosphere.12-30-2010

20100274193Cannula Seal - Trocar seal assemblies are disclosed which consist of a protective member and a retaining member. The protective member prevents accidental perforations of the retaining member during the insertion of an instrument through the seal assembly and assists in forming a seal against the instrument when inserted in the seal assembly. The protective member is generally configured with a circular upper portion and a generally conical lower portion. The lower portion of the protective member consists of a plurality of flaps which increasingly overlap as they progress to the lower portion of the conical shape, thereby forming a seal at the lowest portion where the flaps overlap entirely. The overlapping flaps expand with minimal resistance when instruments are inserted through the seal assembly, thereby ensuring a proper seal regardless of the size or configuration of the instrument. The retaining member holds the protective member in position and compresses the protective member against an instrument when an instrument is inserted through the seal assembly.10-28-2010

20110218823Method and System for Determining Precursors of Health Abnormalities from Processing Medical Records - Medical reports are converted to document vectors in computing apparatus and sampled by applying a maximum variation sampling function including a fitness function to the document vectors to reduce a number of medical records being processed and to increase the diversity of the medical records being processed. Linguistic phrases are extracted from the medical records and converted to s-grams. A Haar wavelet function is applied to the s-grams over the preselected time interval; and the coefficient results of the Haar wavelet function are examined for patterns representing the likelihood of health abnormalities. This confirms certain s-grams as precursors of the health abnormality and a parameter can be calculated in relation to the occurrence of such a health abnormality.09-08-2011

20130339373METHOD AND SYSTEM OF FILTERING AND RECOMMENDING DOCUMENTS - Disclosed is a method and system for discovering documents using a computer and providing a small set of the most relevant documents to the attention of a human observer. Using the method, the computer obtains a seed document from the user and generates a seed document vector using term frequency-inverse corpus frequency weighting. A keyword index for a plurality of source documents can be compared with the weighted terms of the seed document vector. The comparison is then filtered to reduce the number of documents, which define an initial subset of the source documents. Initial subset vectors are generated and compared to the seed document vector to obtain a similarity value for each comparison. Based on the similarity value, the method then recommends one or more of the source documents.12-19-2013

The composition may be mixed with a catalyst composition that contains at least one amine catalyst and at least one metal catalyst. This mixed catalyst composition will substantially cure a mixture of the first part and the second part within less than about 48 hours at ambient temperature.05-14-2009

20090070978METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE OPTIMAL INSERTION FORCE OF A FASTENER PRESS - Force data is monitored by a strain gauge during a preparatory setup operation of an insertion process during which a sample fastener is installed into a host material by a fastener press. Mathematical algorithms are utilized to determine an optimal insertion force, while a predetermined insertion velocity is maintained throughout the installation process regardless of the force required. With the ram velocity held constant, the insertion force is measured during the installation process and compared to the elapsed time to obtain a force slope. A data point on the force slope which corresponds to the point at which the force slope abruptly increases is captured and recorded as the optimal insertion force. This optimal force is then used by the press for all fasteners/host-material installations of the sample type.03-19-2009
20090071351Dual Force Ram Drive for a Screw Press - Precise motion of the ram of a fastener press is controlled by high torque and low torque motors for high speed/low force and high force pressing of the ram by the ram, respectively. The high torque motor means drive passes through a bidirectional overrunning clutch. The clutch is controlled by the relative motion of the two separate motor drive speeds of which are regulated by a controller. The clutching motion is therefore controlled only by the relative speed of its drive versus driven components. This provides an extremely smooth and responsive transition between high speed/low force and low speed/high force operation of the ram so that the pressing cycle can be as fast and efficient as possible.03-19-2009

Water supply hoses connected to the cartridge seat bring hot and/or cold water from a water supply source to a valve cartridge interfaced with the cartridge seat. The water flows from the water supply source, through the water supply hoses, the cartridge seat, the valve cartridge, and the spout tube, and out the spout body through the aerator. The valve cartridge allows a user to control a flow rate and/or temperature of the water delivered through the spout tube and out the spout body.06-24-2010

20090132290System and method for identifying and evaluating nanomaterial-related risk - A system, method, and processor-readable medium are provided for quantitatively evaluating risk associated with nanotechnology. An insurance company computing system obtains nanomaterial-related data from a variety of sources, including nanomaterial sensors such as differential mobility analyzers located on-site at an insured facility. The insurance computing system uses the obtained data and a computerized model to compute a risk score that is used in evaluating the insurability of the facility or the operating entity. An insurance policy or modifications to an existing insurance premium are subsequently produced based on the computed risk score.05-21-2009
