20090014389Intelligent system and method for automated packing of chromatography columns - The present invention provides an automated system and method for packing chromatography columns. In one embodiment, the system first determines the type of media that is present in the column, and uses this information to generate an automated procedure to pack the specific media type. In a second embodiment, the media type is made known to the system, such as via input from the operator. The system then uses this information, in the same manner as in the first embodiment, to generate an automated procedure to pack the specific media type. Finally, in a third embodiment, parameters such as column height and rate of compression are made known to the system, such as via input from the operator. The system then packs the column in accordance with these supplied parameters.01-15-2009

20090094853METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR LOW-ENERGY IN-BIN CROSS-FLOW GRAIN AND SEED AIR DRYING AND STORAGE - This process embodies forcing air through grain and granular biological products using a high volume horizontal airflow from a central vertical pervious tube to one or more plenum chambers near the structure sidewall to dry or cool products. Cross-flow air movement can be supplied by either suction or pressure. This conditioning and drying method has advantages over conventional storage structures, especially where product depth is much greater than diameter. In this process, horizontal air typically moves only ⅓ to ⅙ of vertical distances. Horizontal airflow resistance through elongated seeds is 50-60 percent of vertical airflow. Power for horizontal airflow is typically 8-15% that of vertical airflow. Grain and seed drying costs will be 15-30% of high temperature drying. To enhance germination, storage and grain and seed quality, and to kill or exclude insect pests, ozone is applied to drying or aeration airstreams for treating stored products and storages.04-16-2009

20130149081METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EFFICIENTLY FILLING AND UNLOADING FLAT AND HOPPER BOTTOM GRAIN BINS FROM THE BOTTOM USING ONE CONVEYOR - The embodiments described comprise a method of filling a flat bottom or hopper bottom grain bin with grain, seeds, or other granular or particulate materials by pushing the granular material through a nominally horizontal or inclined cylindrical tube or u-trough into the bottom center floor opening, where a smooth pipe elbow or inclined plane causes the granular material to turn and flow upward where it cascades into a pile on the floor or into the coned bin hopper bottom, with the pile continuing to rise to a desired level, then reversing the embodiment direction of operation, removing all freely flowing material from the bin through the same tube, using this embodiment to fill and unload several bins, minimizing conveyors to fill and unload every bin. A vertical slotted fill pipe can provide a method to reduce friction while filling tall bins by reducing friction of forcing grain through grain.06-13-2013

20110109758CAMERA PARAMETER-ASSISTED VIDEO ENCODING - This disclosure describes techniques for improving functionalities of a back-end device, e.g., a video encoder, using parameters detected by a front-end device, e.g., a video camera. The techniques may involve detecting a scene change in a captured frame, based on one or more parameters of auto exposure (AE), auto white balance (AWB), and auto focus (AF) functions. If a scene change is detected in a captured frame, a video processing device, which may be a stand-alone device, or may be integrated into one of the front-end or back-end devices, provides an indication of the scene change. The video encoder interprets the signal as a trigger to encode the frame indicated as the frame where a scene change occurred as a reference I frame.05-12-2011
20120105668REGION OF INTEREST EXTRACTION - An example image capture device determines a region of interest using a first image captured while a light source is powered off and a second image captured while a light source is powered on and uses the region of interest to automatically set configurations. In one example, an image capture device includes a controlled light source, an image sensor configured to capture images, and a processing unit configured to cause the image sensor to capture a first image of a scene while the controlled light source is powered off, cause the image sensor to capture a second image of the scene while the controlled light source is powered on, calculate luminance differences between a plurality of regions in the first image and a plurality of collocated regions in the second image, and determine that a region of interest includes those regions for which the luminance differences exceed a threshold.05-03-2012
20120236181GENERATING A ZOOMED IMAGE - An apparatus and method of generating a zoomed image is disclosed. A particular method includes receiving an instruction to perform a zoom operation. Window information is sent to an image sensor based on the instruction. The window information corresponds to a portion of the image sensor. In addition, a request to reduce the pixel clock rate may be sent to the image sensor. The request may cause the image sensor to reduce the pixel clock rate such that a frame rate of image data captured by the image sensor is maintained. Cropped image data corresponding to the portion of the image sensor is received. The cropped image data is upscaled to generate a zoomed image09-20-2012

20140354859AUTOMATIC BANDING CORRECTION IN AN IMAGE CAPTURE DEVICE - Certain embodiments relate to banding detection and correction techniques to improve the quality of captured imagery, such as video or still images. In particular, this disclosure describes banding correction techniques that cycle between detection of rolling banding and static banding to determine the power line frequency of ambient light, for example 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The banding correction techniques may also compare different image frames to detect rolling banding. The banding correction techniques may compare row sum data of a plurality of image frames and apply a Fourier analysis to determine a periodic signal of static banding at a particular ambient light power line frequency.12-04-2014

20090110274IMAGE QUALITY ENHANCEMENT WITH HISTOGRAM DIFFUSION - Techniques for improving the quality of images are described. A first histogram of intensity values may be obtained for an input image and diffused to obtain a second histogram with better intensity coverage. The diffusion may be achieved by filtering the first histogram for multiple iterations with a diffusion function obtained based on a filter function and a diffusion control function. The filter function may control the rate and/or characteristics of the diffusion. The diffusion control function may control shifts in positions of lobes in the first histogram. A transformation function may be determined based on a first cumulative distribution function (CDF) for the first histogram and an inverse function for a second CDF for the second histogram. An output image may be generated by mapping each pixel value in the input image to a corresponding pixel value in the output image based on the transformation function.04-30-2009

20110032373APPARATUS AND METHOD OF PROCESSING IMAGES - An apparatus and method of processing images is disclosed. In a particular embodiment, the method includes receiving a selection of a first image from a plurality of images stored at a memory device and displaying the first image. The method also includes receiving image modification data to modify processing of the first image displayed and providing an adjusted value of an image processing parameter to an image processor. The adjusted value of the image processing parameter is determined based at least in part on the image modification data.02-10-2011
