20080250798Method for sensing the liquid level in a compressor - Two vertically offset thermistors for sensing a fluid such as oil and refrigerant in a compressor shell are monitored by a method that takes into account rapidly changing conditions within the shell. The system can determine the fluid's sump temperature, high/low liquid levels, and can determine whether the thermistors are sensing the fluid as a liquid, gas, or a mixture of the two, such as a foam or mist of liquid and gas. For greater accuracy, thermistor readings can be dithered and filtered to provide temperature or voltage values having more significant digits than the readings originally processed through a limited-bit A/D converter. For faster response, limited microprocessor time is conserved by sampling thermistor readings at strategic periods that enable the microprocessor to identify certain conditions and temperatures via simple delta-temperature ratios and undemanding equations rather than resorting to exponential functions or lookup tables to determine time constants.10-16-2008

A sleep period interval between spray operations is selected and a motion sensor is activated to detect motion within a sensory path of the sensor after completion of the sleep period interval. If no motion is detected by the motion sensor a fluid is automatically discharged from the aerosol container and the sleep interval is reset and if motion is detected by the motion sensor a delay time interval is initiated and fluid is not discharged from the aerosol container. The dispensing unit alternates between activating the sensor to detect motion and resetting the delay time interval until no motion is detected by the motion sensor at the expiration of the delay time interval, which results in the automatic discharge of fluid and a resetting of the sleep period interval.09-30-2010

20130053546Use of Anticoagulants in the Production of Recombinant Proteins in the Milk of Transgenic Animals - The invention relates to the production of recombinant human fibrinogen (rhFib) in the milk of transgenic mammalian animals. This production and subsequent purification process is generally hampered by the occurrence of so-called ‘clots’ and ‘flakes’ in the milk which, in severe cases, may prevent the cow from being milked at all, resulting in a halt of lactation. These clots and flakes occur because of the expression of the fibrinogen protein, which is a factor that is normally involved in blood clotting. The invention relates to solving this milk clotting problem by treating the (lactating) animals with anticoagulants such as coumarins. A preferred anticoagulant that is used in the methods of the present invention is warfarin.02-28-2013

20090194376MANUAL WHEEL CHOCKS WITH ENHANCED BRACING UPON DEPLOYMENT - An example wheel restraint includes a wheel chock that is manually movable between a retracted or release position clear of a wheel of a vehicle at a loading dock and an operative position to block the path of the wheel. In the release position, the chock can be manually moved freely along a track that is mounted to a driveway of the dock. When the chock is manually moved from its release position to its operative position, a locking feature automatically restricts the movement of the chock relative to the track. When the chock is manually moved back to its release position, the locking feature automatically disengages. Although the wheel chock is connected to a track, much of the force exerted by the wheel against the chock can be transmitted directly from the chock to the driveway.08-06-2009
20100260586WHEEL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS - A wheel restraint for restraining a vehicle at a loading dock includes a wheel chock suspended from a tether. The tether hangs from an overhead beam such that the wheel chock can be swung down and underneath the vehicle and placed directly in front of a wheel of the vehicle. A pin can be used to help hold the chock to an anchor that is fastened to a driveway of the loading dock. The orientation of the pin and the anchor holes in which the pin can be selectively inserted prevents the chock from tipping back and makes the restraint more tolerant of dirt, ice and other contaminants. In some examples, an offset between the beam and the wheel results in the tether urging the chock toward the anchor.10-14-2010
20120006632WHEEL CHOCK SYSTEM - A wheel restraint for restraining a vehicle at a loading dock includes various features such as, a wheel chock supported by a spring loaded articulated arm with a spring that can be selectively tightened or released, a sensor that detects whether the chock is solidly against a base plate or floor, a bi-directional pivotal joint between the articulated arm and the wheel chock to ensure that the chock can sit squarely on a mating base plate, a wheel chock that meshes with a hydraulically actuated base plate, pivotal or otherwise movable backstops that prevent a wheel chock from sliding out of position, and a base plate cleaning system. The wheel restraint also includes a first vertical resistance feature that is coupled to the base and a second vertical resistance feature that is coupled to the wheel chock to limit vertical movement between the wheel chock and the base when the first vertical resistance feature engages the second vertical resistance feature.01-12-2012
20120025964METHODS AND APPARATUS TO DETECT AND WARN PROXIMATE ENTITIES OF INTEREST - Systems and methods to detect and warn proximate entities of interest are described herein. An example signal generation system for a vehicle capable of different modes of movement includes a detector to determine at least one property of vehicle movement and an output representative of that at least one property and a selectively variable signal generator includes an input to receive the at least one output representative of the at least one property of vehicle movement and, responsively, generates a selected signal based on the received output. In some examples, a detector on a pedestrian detects the selected signal from the signal generator and, responsively, provides an output indicative of a vehicle in proximity to the pedestrian. In some examples, a trajectory vector is generated for at least two entities of interest based on at least one characteristic of movement of each entity. Each entity's trajectory vector is expanded and each entity's expanded trajectory vector is analyzed for overlap with the other entity's expanded trajectory vector to assess the possibility of a collision between them.02-02-2012

20130307184Implantable Medical Electrical Device Connector Module Assemblies and Methods - Methods for forming an insulative body of an implantable medical device connector module assembly employ an injection molding process, whereby first and second shots of insulative material form core and an overlay portions, respectively. In some methods, a panel portion of an electrical component is mounted between opposing surfaces of a mold such that a finger-like portion of the component extends into a cavity of the mold, with a first side thereof touching another surface of the mold and a second, opposite side exposed within the cavity; following first shot injection, the core portion captures the finger-like portion in relatively rigid relation thereto. When two types of connector bores are formed, a color indicator may be engaged with a feature of the core portion that is located in proximity to a connector bore of the first type, and then the overlay portion is formed over the indicator.11-21-2013
