The spatially and/or temporally localized electric field can be established using spatially and/or temporally patterning light with a diffractive element to generate the spatially localized electric field on the photoconductive surface which is sandwiched between two conductive surfaces and applying a selected voltage difference between the two conductive surfaces. The intensity of the light beam can be varied for different processes of activation, guidance or poration without causing cellular damage.08-19-2010
20100268150METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OPTOGENETIC TREATMENT OF BLINDNESS INCLUDING RETINITIS PIGMENTOSA - An apparatus for in vivo electroporating a plasmid into a retina of any eye includes a first electrode with a first polarity of voltage placed in contact with a cornea of the eye, a second electrode with an opposite second voltage at least in part behind the retina, and a pulsed voltage source for providing a pulsed DC voltage with an optimized field strength amplitude, frequency, number of pulses, group repetition rate and duration of pulse and group repetition, which are optimized for transfection of the channelrhodospsin-2 (ChR2) gene into the retinal ganglion cells. An in vivo method for treating retinal ganglion cells in an eye without use of viral transfection includes the steps of nonviral in vivo delivering a channelrhodospsin-2 (ChR2) gene to target the specific (retinal ganglion) cells of a retina by intravitreous injection of plasmid DNA, electroporating the plasmid into the retina and use of image intensification device for stimulating the retinal ganglion cells with ambient lighting conditions.10-21-2010

20150339370DOCUMENT RECONSTRUCTION FROM EVENTS STORED IN A UNIFIED CONTEXT-AWARE CONTENT ARCHIVE - A unified context-aware content archive system allows enterprises to manage, enforce, monitor, moderate, and review business records associated with a variety of communication modalities. The system may store an information infoset derived or inferred from one or more documents representing communications according to the variety of communication modalities as interaction transcripts. An interaction transcript represents interactions between participants through the documents rather than the documents themselves allowing for derivation or inference of communication events, chronologies, and mappings to be stored in a common data structure. In one aspect, events correlation is provided between participants of communications that can be established by general time series analysis for the purposes of extracting meaningful statistics and interaction contexts and other characteristics of data. In another aspect, chronological mappings are provided of conversations between an established start and end time frame.11-26-2015

20110271109SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF REMOTE DEVICE AUTHENTICATION - Methods and systems are provided herein that allow for a first device to remotely authenticate a particular software or hardware feature of a second device with which the first device is communicating. More specifically, the teachings herein allow for a server to verify that a particular application running on a client machine is an authentic application, as opposed to an application developed by a rogue element disguising itself as a authentic application. In a broader sense the teachings herein allow a server to initiate a sequence of instructions on the remote machine, and for which assurance is needed that the intended instructions were executed on the remote machine. Additionally methods and systems are provided that generate and update client registration certificates that are tightly bound to both client and server.11-03-2011

20110110343ENHANCING FRAGMENTATION AND DEFRAGMENTATION PROCEDURES IN BROADBAND WIRELESS NETWORKS - A preemption system enables successful transmission of multiple service data units (SDUs) across a wireless interface. The preemption system addresses out-of-order transmissions of fragments of SDUs, such that the receiver is able to process each successfully. The preemption system enables a higher-priority SDU to simultaneously be transmitted with a lower-priority SDU, so that delays in processing the lower-priority SDU does not negatively affect processing of the higher-priority SDU. The preemption system also addresses non-automatic repeat request medium access controller (non-ARQ MAC) connections that only use hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ), in which the HARQ transmission may cause out-of-order delivery of SDU fragments.05-12-2011

20110072509Wireless Controller Device - A remote wireless device is provided that operates a user interface specific to a particular target application or device. The wireless device receives information regarding the status or operation of the target's application, and uses that information to determine what information and controls to present to the remote user. The remote user views information regarding the target application, and makes desired control selections using the available controls. The wireless device generates a message according to the control selections, and transmits the message to the target device. The target device acts responsive to the control message, and updated operational information may be sent to the remote wireless device.03-24-2011

20120226905Method and System for Discovering, Authenticating and Accessing Multiple Computing Devices - The system and methods disclosed allows devices, possibly on different networks, to discover, access and authenticate one another. When the target device is on the same network as the source device (or is otherwise directly addressable by the source device), the system provides a mechanism by which the source device can connect directly to the target device; otherwise, the system provides a mechanism by which the source and target devices may communication with one another using a commonly accessible computing device as a proxy. In the latter case, the mechanism is such that it is not technologically feasible for the proxy device to decipher communications between the source and target devices. The system accommodates dynamic change in network location (e.g. IP address) without requiring reconfiguration by the user, and mitigates problems introduced by the existence of firewalls.09-06-2012
