20090107776Tension member for an elevator - A tension member for an elevator system has an aspect ratio of greater than one, where aspect ratio is defined as the ratio of tension member width w to thickness t (w/t). The increase in aspect ratio results in a reduction in the maximum rope pressure and an increased flexibility as compared to conventional elevator ropes. As a result, smaller sheaves may be used with this type of tension member. In a particular embodiment, the tension member includes a plurality of individual load carrying cords encased within a common layer of coating. The coating layer separates the individual cords and defines an engagement surface for engaging a traction sheave.04-30-2009

20150032583METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR TRACKING PROJECT IMPACTS, EVENT IMPACTS, AND ENERGY SAVINGS - A method assesses an energy impacting event at a facility using an energy management system. One or more energy consuming endpoints of the facility are sub-metered and data from the sub-metered endpoints is transmitted to the energy management system. A project is created within the EMS by entering project definition attributes including at least a site name, a project name, and a start date. Data from one or more sub-metered channels and a project indicator is displayed. The displayed project indicator is located at a point corresponding to its project start time. A further method tracks the progress of energy saving project at a facility using an energy management system. The project definition attributes further include one or more sub-metered channels, baseline usage data, and an energy related goal. An energy impact value is calculated by subtracting the actual sub-metered usage data from the baseline data and a determination is made whether the energy impact value meets or exceeds the energy goal. The baseline usage data, the energy goal data, the actual sub-metered data, and an indication of whether the energy goal was met are displayed. A further method tracks the financial progress of energy saving project at a facility using an energy management system. The project definition attributes further include one or more capital investment outflow values, a discount rate, and an energy cost rate. Net actual project cash flows and the net project goal cash flows are both plotted against a time scale and periodically displayed. An estimated net present value and net present value are periodically calculated and displayed.01-29-2015

20160032692INDUCED CONTROL EXCITATION FOR ENHANCED RESERVOIR FLOW CHARACTERIZATION - A system, method and a computer program product may be provided for characterizing natural resource subsurface attributes and compositions. The system prescribes alterations of one or more controls of a natural resource. The system applies the altered controls to the natural resource wells. The system collects measurement data of the natural resource wells that responds to the applied altered controls. The system determines, based on the collected measurement data, the natural resource subsurface attributes and compositions that pertain to the natural resource.02-04-2016

20080294387MARTINGALE CONTROL OF PRODUCTION FOR OPTIMAL PROFITABILITY OF OIL AND GAS FIELDS - A computer-aided lean management (CALM) controller system recommends actions and manages production in an oil and gas reservoir/field as its properties and conditions change with time. The reservoir/field is characterized and represented as an electronic-field (“e-field”). A plurality of system applications describe dynamic and static e-field properties and conditions. The application workflows are integrated and combined in a feedback loop between actions taken in the field and metrics that score the success or failure of those actions. A controller/optimizer operates on the combination of the application workflows to compute production strategies and actions. The controller/optimizer is configured to generate a best action sequence for production, which is economically “always-in-the-money.”11-27-2008

20130317749SYSTEM, METHOD AND PROGRAM PRODUCT FOR PROVIDING INFRASTRUCTURE CENTRIC WEATHER FORECASTS - A infrastructure sensitivity centric weather forecast system, method of forecasting weather and a computer program product therefor. A forecasting computer applies a grid to a forecast area, locates infrastructure, e.g. power grid infrastructure, in the area and determines weather effects on infrastructure in each grid cell. A targeted selection module iteratively identifies grid cells for refinement in response to the weather effects on cell infrastructure. In each iteration a refined grid is applied to each grid cell identified as containing infrastructure that may be sensitive, or vulnerable, to expected weather. The forecasting computer refines the area considered to focus on area infrastructure and sensitivities/vulnerabilities to expected weather.11-28-2013
20140136158METHOD TO ASSESS THE IMPACT OF EXISTING FRACTURES AND FAULTS FOR RESERVOIR MANAGEMENT - Assessing the impact of existing fractures and faults for reservoir management, in one aspect, may comprise employing a numerical mesh to generate a geomechanical model, the numerical mesh representing a geological reservoir and its surrounding regions, the numerical mesh comprising delimitation associated with regions and layering of geology without constraining the numerical mesh to explicitly represent a fault or fracture, initializing the geomechanical model to define initial stress-strain compatible with measured stress in well locations associated with the geological reservoir, generating a fluid-flow model employing the numerical mesh, solving for a coupled solution of the fluid-flow model and the geomechanical model, and employing the solved fluid-flow model and the geomechanical model to assess the impact.05-15-2014
20140136163METHOD TO COUPLE FLUID-FLOW AND GEOMECHANICAL MODELS FOR INTEGRATED PETROLEUM SYSTEMS USING KNOWN TRIGGERING EVENTS - Coupling fluid-flow model and geomechanical model for integrated petroleum systems, in one aspect, may comprise analyzing historical data associated with a reservoir to determine one or more triggering events that trigger abrupt changes in the state of stress of the reservoir solid framework and in the pore pressure. One or more time steps are defined based on the determined triggering events. The fluid-flow model and the geomechanical model are coupled at the one or more defined time steps, e.g., one-way or two-way. Number of iterations may be calculated automatically for the two-way coupling to converge.05-15-2014
20140136462SYSTEM, METHOD AND PROGRAM PRODUCT FOR AUTOMATICALLY SUPPLYING MISSING PARAMETERS FOR MATCHING NEW MEMBERS OF A POPULATION WITH ANALOGOUS MEMBERS - A population comparison system, method and a computer program product therefor. A stored list of population members, e.g., hydrocarbon reservoirs, includes parameters for corresponding known characteristics and analogous members for each member. A new population member input receives new member descriptions including parameters for each respective new member. A parameter extraction system automatically extracts an estimated value for each missing key parameter, providing a supplemented description. An analogous member selector automatically selects a subset of listed population members as analogous members for each new population member responsive to the supplemented description.05-15-2014
20140136466AUTOMATICALLY SELECTING ANALOGOUS MEMBERS FOR NEW POPULATION MEMBERS BASED ON INCOMPLETE DESCRIPTIONS, INCLUDING AN UNCERTAINTY CHARACTERZING SELECTION - A population comparison system, method and a computer program product. An analogous member selector automatically selects a subset of listed population members as analogous members for each new population member responsive to the supplemented description. The analogous members serve as a basis for uncertainty characterization from the joint parameter distribution and univariate distributions for each parameter.05-15-2014
