20140114216 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPENING OF A TISSUE BARRIER IN PRIMATES - Systems and methods for cavitation-guided opening of a targeted region of tissue within a primate skull are provided. In one example, a method includes delivering one or more microbubbles to proximate the targeted region, applying an ultrasound beam, using a transducer, through the skull of the primate to the targeted region to open the tissue, transcranially acquiring acoustic emissions produced from an interaction between the one or more microbubbles and the tissue, and determining a cavitation spectrum from the acquired acoustic emissions. | 04-24-2014 |
20150065871 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REAL-TIME, TRANSCRANIAL MONITORING OF BLOOD-BRAIN BARRIER OPENING - Systems and techniques for real-time, transcranial monitoring of safe blood-brain barrier opening include determining an approach angle for targeted blood-brain barrier opening proximate a predetermined region in a brain of a patient, and positioning an ultrasound transducer to generate a focused ultrasound signal at the determined approach angle to the predetermined region in the brain. | 03-05-2015 |

20100098418 | SWITCHED OPTICAL FIBRE NETWORK FOR AIRPLANE SEATS - The invention relates to a network of switched optical fiber for airplane seats. The network connects the screens of the seats to each other and to a server via an optical fiber. The network includes optical switches of the MEMS type including mirrors, said switches being provided perpendicular to each seat. Each switch delivers the light beam in the optical fiber to the screen with which it is connected and re-amplifies it in the optical fiber when it is powered, while the switch directly delivers the light beam to the following seat when it is not powered. | 04-22-2010 |

20140058786 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO ENHANCE OPERATIONAL PLANNING - Operational planning may be beneficial in a wide variety of areas. For example, naval commanders, hospital administrators, educators, and cargo transporters may benefit from enhanced operational planning. A method can include presenting a list of events in a chronological order. The method can also include linking each of the events to at least one chronological neighbor event, said linking done with respect to a non-chronological parameter of said at least one chronological neighbor event. The method can further include, responsive to a user selection, changing the chronological order of the list of events. The method can additionally include relinking events having at least one changed neighbor event upon changing the chronological order. | 02-27-2014 |

20100252544 | GLAZING COMPRISING A NETWORK OF CONDUCTING WIRES - The invention relates to glazing units provided with conducting wires. The glazing units according to the invention comprise enameled conducting wires applied by screen-printing. When subjected to a “zebra” test (DIN 52305), in which the conducting wires are oriented parallel to those of the image of the test and the glazing receives the incident light beam at an angle of 30° C. in relation to the normal to the glazing, the increase in distortion in relation to that of the glazing without conducting wires is at most 70% and preferably at most 50%. | 10-07-2010 |

20080265130 | Wave Front Sensing Method and Apparatus - A new way of mixing instrumental and digital means is described for the general field of wave front sensing. The present invention describes the use, the definition and the utility of digital operators, called digital wave front operators (DWFO) or digital lenses (DL), specifically designed for the digital processing of wave fronts defined in amplitude and phase. DWFO are of particular interest for correcting undesired wave front deformations induced by instrumental defects or experimental errors. DWFO may be defined using a mathematical model, e.g. a polynomial function, which involves coefficients. The present invention describes automated and semi-automated procedures for calibrating or adjusting the values of these coefficients. These procedures are based on the fitting of mathematical models on reference data extracted from specific regions of a wave front called reference areas, which are characterized by the fact that specimen contributions are a priori known in reference areas. For example, reference areas can be defined in regions where flat surfaces of a specimen produce a constant phase function. The present invention describes also how DWFO can be defined by extracting reference data along one-dimensional (1D) profiles. DWFO can also be defined in order to obtain a flattened representation of non-flat area of a specimen. Several DWFO or DL can be combined, possibly in addition with procedures for calculating numerically the propagation of wave fronts. A DWFO may also be defined experimentally, e.g. by calibration procedures using reference specimens. A method for generating a DWFO by filtering in the Fourier plane is also described. All wave front sensing techniques may benefit from the present invention. The case of a wave front sensor based on digital holography, e.g. a digital holographic microscope (DHM), is described in more details. The use of DWFO improves the performance, in particular speed and precision, and the ease of use of instruments for wave front sensing. The use of DWFO results in instrumental simplifications, costs reductions, and enlarged the field of applications. The present invention defines a new technique for imaging and metrology with a large field of applications in material and life sciences, for research and industrial applications. | 10-30-2008 |
20120038931 | MONITORING ENERGY AND MATTER FLUXES BY USE OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATIONS - Apparatus and method are provided for monitoring and measuring matter and energy fluxes by use of devices able to detect refractive index changes. In one aspect, apparatus use an interference between two electromagnetic radiations in order to provide high sensitivity, enabling fluxes monitoring at the microscopic scale, by measuring phase changes or Optical Path Length (OPL) changes. In one aspect, methods are provided for monitoring and measuring the electrical activity of a biological cells, simultaneously on several cells, without use of electrodes and contrast agents. | 02-16-2012 |
