20110036577 | MANIPULATION OF FLOW UNDERGROUND - Solid material required at a subterranean location is supplied from the surface suspended in a carrier liquid and agglomerated below ground by means of a binding liquid. Agglomeration is achieved by arranging that the binding liquid and the particulate solid are similar to each other but opposite to the carrier liquid in hydrophilic/hydrophobic character. The solid and the binding liquid may both be hydrophobic while the carrier liquid is hydrophilic, or vice versa. The solid may be hydrophobically surface modified to render it hydrophobic. The binding liquid may be provided as a precursor which converts to the binding liquid below ground to trigger agglomeration after arrival at the subterranean location. | 02-17-2011 |
20130289961 | Methods For Producing Fluids From Geological Formation - Embodiments disclosed herein relate to reservoir characterization techniques and methods for accurately predicting scale tendencies of formation fluids, developed with the newly discovered phenomena that extreme downhole conditions affect the properties of reservoir fluids, including both the brine and dense hydrocarbon gas phases. In one aspect, there is disclosed a method for producing fluids from a geological formation. The method comprises inputting at least one property of a geological formation into an equation of state (EOS) model. The EOS model accounts for bound water, a high temperature effect on the brine and a high temperature effect on the dense gas phase. The EOS model is solved to determine a character of fluids contained in the geological formation, and inputting a production condition or a plurality of production conditions into the EOS model. A character of the fluids is determined based on the determined character of the fluids in the geological formation and the input production conditions. The solution can be output to a display device. Planning of the production of fluids from the geological formation can be performed. Production conditions can be controlled or adjusted. | 10-31-2013 |

20090260828 | Use of Carbon-Dioxide-Based Fracturing Fluids - A method of treating a shale-containing subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore is accomplished by forming a carbon dioxide treatment fluid having a viscosity of less than about 10 mPa-s at a shear rate of about 100 s | 10-22-2009 |
20100157737 | MICROHYDRAULIC FRACTURING WITH DOWNHOLE ACOUSTIC MEASUREMENT - Methods and related systems are described for measuring acoustic signals in a borehole during a fracturing operation. The system includes a downhole toolstring designed and adapted for deployment in a borehole formed within a subterranean rock formation. A downhole rock fracturing tool opens and propagates a fracture in the subterranean rock formation. Dipole and/or quadrupole acoustic sources transmit acoustic energy into the subterranean rock formation. A receiver array measures acoustic energy traveling through the subterranean rock formation before, during and after the fracture induction. Geophones mounted on extendable arms can be used to measure shear wave acoustic energy travelling in the rock formation. The toolstring can be constructed such that the sources and receivers straddle the fracture zone during the fracturing. Alternatively, the sources or the receivers can co-located axially with the fracture zone, or the toolstring can be repositioned following fracturing such that the fracture zone is between the acoustic sources and receivers. | 06-24-2010 |
