20090277331HYDROGEN SEPARATION COMPOSITE MEMBRANE MODULE AND THE METHOD OF PRODUCTION THEREOF - This invention relates to a metallic composite membrane for separating hydrogen from a mixed gas, a membrane module and a manufacturing method thereof. The composite membrane consists of a three-layer sandwich structure, e.g. the porous metal substrate, an intermediate layer and the hydrogen-selective dense thin metal layer. In the embodiments of the invention, the porous metal substrates were first pretreated to reduce their surface roughness without reducing their gas permeability. The pretreated substrates were coated with intermediate layer, wherein the intermediate layer served as not only a barrier layer to prevent interdiffusion between the substrate and the hydrogen-selective layer, but also a surface modifier to reduce surface roughness and pore size of the substrate. A hydrogen-selective metal layer was then deposited on the intermediate layer-coated substrate by coating methods. Since the substrate with the intermediate layer has a smoother surface with a smaller pore size, a thinner hydrogen-selective metal membrane can be used to form a dense pinhole-free membrane. This not only reduces the metal loading of the composite membrane, but also increases its hydrogen permeance and selectivity of the composite membrane. The module design according to the invention provides solutions to the problems that result from high welding temperatures or high mechanical compressing force caused by the joining of a composite membrane with other parts through Swagelok, welding, brazing and gasket etc.11-12-2009

20090304391OPTICAL COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM HAVING CHROMATIC DISPERSION AND POLARIZATION MODE DISPERSION COMPENSATION - Described are an optical communications system and a method that allow for compensation of chromatic dispersion and polarization mode dispersion imparted to a communications signal propagating through an optical link. The system is based on a cost-effective optical transport architecture that accommodates baud rates exceeding 15 Gbaud and eliminates the need for costly optical dispersion compensators. Compensation for polarization mode dispersion is performed at the receiver using nonlinear processing. Advantageously, direct detection modulation using inexpensive electro-optic system components can be used in place of more costly and complex coherent and differential modulation formats. Digital filtering can be performed at the transmitter and the input signal can be inverted based on the nonlinearity of the transmitter electro-optic components. Consequently, the bandwidth and linearity requirements for the transmitter electro-optic components are relaxed, and cost reductions are realized.12-10-2009

Based on a model including model nodes that represent components of a modeled system, operational dependencies between model nodes, and model edges that interconnect the nodes and represent relationships between the components in the modeled system, subset computations are performed to compute subsets of the model nodes that can impact operational dependencies between other model nodes. When the model changes, a determination is made as to whether an incremental subset computation should be performed for one or more particular operational dependencies between model nodes in the changed model, and if so, an incremental subset computation is performed. Otherwise, a full subset computation or no subset computation might be performed. In this manner, model changes are considered on a case-by-case basis to determine an extent, if any, to which subsets should be re-computed.12-04-2008

The KVM server includes a plurality of video processors and a video switch for connecting each video processor to one or more video sources. Each video processor processes video data using a multiresolution decomposition method to generate a plurality of decomposition components at different resolution levels. A main processor of the KVM server transmits the decomposition components generated by various video processors to various clients based on the clients' requirements. When some clients are in a multi-source (“TV wall”) mode and some clients are in a single-source mode, the main processor uses decomposition components generated by some video processors to supply both the clients in single-source mode and as a part of the TV wall data for the clients in multi-source mode.11-25-2010
20100296583IMAGE PROCESSING AND TRANSMISSION IN A KVM SWITCH SYSTEM WITH SPECIAL HANDLING FOR REGIONS OF INTEREST - In server-client system, such as an IKVM, where a server and a client are connected via a network, an ROI (region of interest) function is provided which allows an ROI area of the video image displayed on the client to have higher image quality and/or magnification than the rest of the image. The client defines an ROI area and transmits the ROI parameters to the server. The server processes video data in the ROI area and non-ROI area differently in various stages of video data processing, including video data sampling/scaling, processing, compression, and transmission, so that the image in the ROI area has a higher image quality and/or magnification. The client may also cooperate with the server to accomplish the ROI function, such as by performing image enhancement processing of the ROI area during image display.11-25-2010

20110096663Method of Providing Bearer Specific Information for Wireless Networks - The Packet Control Function (PCF) has limited knowledge about the nature of the packet data arriving on a bearer path connected via the Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN), and cannot make an intelligent decision on its own as to how best to handle the packet data. Thus, the PDSN provides bearer-specific information by classifying the priority of received packet data; encapsulating the packet data within the payload of a Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) frame; and for high priority packet data i) setting a protocol type field in the header of the GRE frame indicating said packet includes an attribute field; and ii) adding an attribute field to the payload of the GRE packet which provides an indication of said high priority data. Furthermore, the PCF can send an A-04-28-2011
20120115500Method and System of Managing Wireless Resources - The invention provides for the management of wireless resources, which can reduce call blocking by allowing high priority services, under suitable conditions, to use resources allocated to low priority services. Thus high priority services can pre-empt the usage of wireless resources by low priority services. This has the advantage of reducing call blocking for high priority calls, while permitting low priority calls to have more access to radio resources than conventional systems with the same call blocking rate. Thus a base station can implement a preemption mechanism that would reclaim Walsh Code and Forward Power resources from an active Supplemental Channel (SCH) burst in order to accommodate incoming Fundamental Channel (FCH) requests.05-10-2012

Thus high priority services can pre-empt the usage of wireless resources by low priority services. This has the advantage of reducing call blocking for high priority calls, while permitting low priority calls to have more access to radio resources than conventional systems with the same call blocking rate. Thus a base station can implement a preemption mechanism that would reclaim Walsh Code and Forward Power resources from an active Supplemental Channel (SCH) burst in order to accommodate incoming Fundamental Channel (FCH) requests.08-28-2014

Furthermore, the PCF can send an A-11 request to the PDSN indicating the features that the PCF is requesting the PDSN enable. For example, for a short data indication, the PCF would request the PDSN enable adding the attribute field to the GRE frame when an Short Data Burst (SDB) is suitable.09-11-2014

20110112195Potent and Selective Inhibition by Aurinticarboxylic Acid - The severe acute respiratory syndrome virus (SARS) is a coronavirus that instigated regional epidemics in Canada and several Asian countries in 2003. The newly identified SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV) can be transmitted among humans and cause severe or even fatal illnesses. As preventive vaccine development takes years to complete and adverse reactions have been reported to some veterinary coronaviral vaccines, anti-viral compounds must be relentlessly pursued. In this study, we analyzed the effect of aurintricarboxylic acid (ATA) on SARS-CoV replication in cell culture, and found that ATA could drastically inhibit SARS-CoV replication, with viral production being more than 1000 fold than that in the untreated control. ATA is also shown to be an effective anti-viral for several other viruses, including West Nile Virus and variola virus.05-12-2011
