20110267455 | SYSTEM FOR GENERATING A LIGHT BEAM IN THE AREA IN FRONT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE - A system is described for generating a light beam in the area in front of a motor vehicle, which system has the following components—a headlight which comprises at least one LED array comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) which can be electrically actuated separately, —an object detection device for detecting objects in the area around the motor vehicle, and—a position determining device for determining the position of a detected object relative to the motor vehicle. In this context, the light beam which is generated by the LED array in conjunction with an optical imaging system can be characterized by at least one horizontal illumination intensity distribution value, in which the contributions of at least two LEDs to the illumination intensity distribution value overlap at least partially in terms of the horizontal angle, wherein the illumination intensity can be defined respectively for a) different positions in front of the motor vehicle and b) different horizontal angles relative to a reference direction. For a detected object, a horizontal angle range which is critical in terms of dazzle is then identified in each case as a function of the position of the object with respect to the motor vehicle and as a function of an assumed or identified object width, and the individual LEDs are driven, while taking into account the overlapping, in terms of horizontal angle, of their contributions to the illumination intensity distribution value, in such a way that an illumination intensity limiting value is not exceeded in the horizontal angle range which is critical in terms of dazzle and in terms of the position of the detected object. | 11-03-2011 |
20120236560 | Street Lighting Device - An illumination device comprising a housing positionable at a distance from an area to be illuminated and having at least one lighting module, on a support in the housing, that has lighting units having the same light distribution characteristics. Each of the lighting units contains lighting elements and associated lenses arranged in front of the same in the light-emitting direction. Different lighting modules may include lighting units having different light distribution characteristics, while the lighting units have optical axes running parallel to each other. At least one lighting unit is configured such that its light distribution characteristics have at least one asymmetrical section relative to a central plane of the lighting unit. | 09-20-2012 |

20160031417 | METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE LOCATION OF A REMOTE TRANSMITTER POSITIONED NEAR A VEHICLE - A method for determining the location of a remote transceiver in relation to a vehicle, the method including the steps of: transmitting at least two measuring signals to the remote transceiver, each of the measuring signals being transmitted from a different one of a plurality of n antennae positioned relative to the vehicle, where n denotes an integer 2; receiving an acknowledgement signal from the remote transmitter in response to each measuring signal, each acknowledgement signal including a received signal strength indication (RSSI) for a respective received measuring signal, the values of the received RSSIs together defining a data point in an RSSI domain; and determining a difference between the received value of a first RSSI and a defined threshold value for that first RSSI, wherein the sign of the difference indicates whether the remote transmitter is inside or outside a defined region i of or near the vehicle. | 02-04-2016 |
