The isocyanate-based polymer foam is derived from a reaction mixture comprising: (a) an isocyanate; (b) a mixture of active hydrogen-containing compounds; and (c) a blowing agent. The mixture of active hydrogen-containing compounds comprises: (i) a bio-based polyol having an OH functionality of greater than about 2.0, an OH number in the range of from about 90 to about 200 and a molecular weight (Mn) of at least about 1100, and (ii) a petroleum-based active hydrogen-containing compound. It has been surprisingly and unexpectedly discovered that relatively high amounts (compared to the prior art) of such a bio-based polyol may be incorporated into an isocyanate-based polymer foam while maintaining a desirable balance of properties in the foam. Use of such a bio-based polyol (as a single bio-based polyol or a mixture of bio-based polyols) allows for displacement of at least a portion of petroleum-based polyols conventionally used in the production of isocyanate-based polymer foam while maintaining a desirable balance of properties in the foam, particularly molded foam. 20150194726 | RADIATING ELEMENT AND ENGINEERED MAGNETIC MATERIAL - Various embodiments are described that relate to a radiating element and an engineered magnetic material. In a communication environment a radiating element can be used to communicate information, such as to send signals. Various factors, including electromagnetic factors, can influence the performance of the radiating element. In one example, if the radiating element becomes too close to a ground plane, then performance of the radiating element can suffer. To counter negative effects of being too close to the ground plane an engineered magnetic material can be employed that causes the radiating element to perform better when relatively close to the ground plane. | 07-09-2015 |

20150050214 | COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF MAKING THE NOVEL 3D POLYMER GEL FOR USE IN RADIATION TREATMENT PLANNING - Polymer gel dosimeters based on radiation-induced polymerization of N-(Isobutoxymethyl) acrylamide (NIBMA) polymer gels in normal atmospheric condition (NIBMAGAT) have been synthesized and studied as a new composition of polymer gel dosimeters for radiotherapy treatment planning. The dosimeters were irradiated with at absorbed doses up to 30 Gy and no change in dose response was observed even after using repeatedly for eight times. The novel composition shows no change in the relaxation rate or absorbance of the gel dosimeters up to 144 hours. Dose response of NIBMAGAT gel dosimeters increases with increase of monomer concentration. The relaxation rate of NIBMAGAT gel increases with increase of THPC concentration from 2.5 to 5 mM, but the dose response is not affected with increase of THPC concentration from 5 to 20 mM. The results show that the dose sensitivity increases significantly with increase of glycerol concentration up to ≈30% within gel dosimeters. | 02-19-2015 |
