20110041483 | METHOD OF CONTROLLING FUEL IN AN EXHAUST TREATMENT SYSTEM IMPLEMENTING TEMPORARY ENGINE CONTROL - An exhaust treatment system associated with a power source is disclosed. The exhaust treatment system may have a filter located to remove particulate matter from a flow of exhaust, and a regeneration device located proximal the filter. The exhaust treatment system may also have a first fluid handling component located upstream of the power source to vary an amount of oxygen in the flow of exhaust, a second fluid handling component located downstream of the power source to vary the amount of exhaust air flow in the exhaust circuit, and a controller in communication with the regeneration device and the fluid handling component. The controller may determine a need for filter regeneration, and determine adjustments to the first and second fluid handling components required to provide sufficient oxygen and air mass flow in the exhaust for filter regeneration. The controller may further determine an effect the adjustments will have on operation of the power source, and determine corrections for the power source to account for the effects. The controller may substantially simultaneously implement the adjustments and the corrections. | 02-24-2011 |

20100229538 | Diesel particulate filter regeneration control and method - An after-treatment device that includes a diesel particulate filter (DPF) requiring periodic regeneration includes a sensor providing a signal indicative of a soot accumulation and at least one device providing an operating parameter indicative of a work mode of the machine. A controller determines a soot level and a readiness level based on the work mode of the machine, and further classifies the soot level relative to a desired range for initiating a regeneration event and initiates the regeneration event when the soot level falls within the desired range. | 09-16-2010 |

20090000604 | Engine system having aftertreatment and an intake air heater - An engine system for a power unit is disclosed. The engine system includes an exhaust system having at least one exhaust treatment device and an air induction system having at least one heater. The heater is configured to raise the temperature of an intake flow in the air induction system in response to a physical property of the exhaust treatment device. | 01-01-2009 |
20100115920 | Exhaust component having permanently associated life indicator - An exhaust component for use with a combustion engine is disclosed. The exhaust component may have a housing at least partially defining an inlet and an outlet, and a treatment device supported by the housing in communication with exhaust passing from the inlet to the outlet. The exhaust component may also have a life indicator permanently associated with at least one of the housing and the treatment device. | 05-13-2010 |

20100011747 | METHOD FOR MODIFYING AIR PROVIDED FOR REGENERATION - A method for regenerating a filtering device is disclosed. The method may include creating a flow of exhaust with a power source and providing air to a combustion device configured to heat the flow of exhaust. The method may also include determining if a parameter is above a threshold. The parameter may be indicative of an amount of air provided to the combustion device. The method may further include modifying an operating condition of the power source if the parameter is above the threshold, where modifying the operating condition affects the parameter. | 01-21-2010 |
20100031643 | AIR SYSTEM INCLUDING A VARIABLE GEOMETRY TURBOCHARGER FOR SUPPLYING AIR TO A REGENERATION SYSTEM - A system for supplying air to a regeneration system associated with an engine is disclosed. The system may include an engine including an intake manifold and an exhaust manifold. The system may also include a variable geometry turbocharger including a turbine and a compressor, the turbine in fluid communication with the exhaust manifold and the compressor in fluid communication with the intake manifold. A regeneration system may be associated with the engine, the regeneration system including a fuel injector and an air inlet, the compressor in fluid communication with the air inlet of the regeneration system. | 02-11-2010 |
