20120158547PERSONAL REMOTE STORAGE FOR PURCHASED ELECTRONIC CONTENT ITEMS - Architectures and techniques are described to provide personal remote storage space for electronic content items acquired (e.g., purchased) by a user of a client device. In some cases, as part of a transaction to acquire the electronic content item, an individual may receive an option that is selectable to indicate a preference to send electronic content items acquired by the individual to a personal remote storage space of the individual. When the option to store the electronic content item in the personal remote storage space is not selected by the individual, the electronic content item may be provided directly to a designated computing device of the individual.06-21-2012
20120198339Audio-Based Application Architecture - An application architecture comprises one or more audio interfaces placed within the premises of users. A cloud-based application engine receives audio information from the interfaces and provides information to cloud-based applications based on the audio within the user premises. The other applications utilize the information to provide or enhance services to the users.08-02-2012
20120239713VARIANTS OF FILES IN A FILE SYSTEM - Disclosed are various embodiments that provide variants of files in a file system. Multiple file systems are maintained for multiple users. Each file system includes multiple files and one or more folder. Each file includes a respective unique identifier and a respective reference to a data object stored in one or more data store. Multiple file variants are maintained. Each file variant includes the respective unique identifier of a respective file. Each file variant also includes a respective reference to a secondary data object stored in the one or more data stores. The secondary data object is related to the primary data object referenced by the respective file.09-20-2012
20120254340Local Storage Linked to Networked Storage System - Disclosed are various embodiments for storage of files. A portable memory device is configured to couple to a computing device, and a storage management application is stored in the portable memory device, the storage management application being executable by a processor circuit. The storage management application is configured to send a plurality of files for storage in a networked storage system, the networked storage system being remote to the computing device. The storage management system caches a subset of the files on the portable memory device and maintains a local file directory in the portable memory device. The local file directory lists the files stored in the networked storage system in association with an account linked to the portable memory device.10-04-2012
20120324040LOCAL NETWORKED STORAGE LINKED TO REMOTE NETWORKED STORAGE SYSTEM - Disclosed are various embodiments for local networked storage that is linked to a remote networked storage system. In a client application, it is determined whether a local networked storage system is accessible to the client through a local network. A file is sent to the local networked storage system over the local network for storage by the local networked storage system when the local networked storage system is determined to be accessible to the client through the local network. A file is sent to a remote networked storage system over a remote network for storage by the remote networked storage system in association with a user account when the local networked storage system is determined not to be accessible through the local network.12-20-2012
20140351224Making Publisher Content Available to Specific Users - Disclosed are various embodiments for making publisher content available to specific users. A directory describing media items that are remotely stored is presented via a user interface. Selection information corresponding to a particular media item is received via the user interface. The media item is requested and received from another computing device. Consumption data is collected during consumption of the media item. The consumption data is sent to another computing device.11-27-2014
20150106412Local Storage Linked to Networked Storage System - Disclosed are various embodiments for storage of files. A removable memory device is configured to couple to a computing device, and a storage management application is stored in the removable memory device, the storage management application being executable by a processor circuit. The storage management application is configured to send a plurality of files for storage in a networked storage system, the networked storage system being remote to the computing device. The storage management system caches a subset of the files on the removable memory device and maintains a local file directory in the removable memory device. The local file directory lists the files stored in the networked storage system in association with an account linked to the removable memory device.04-16-2015
20150358379SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ASSIGNMENT AND SWITCHING OF CONTENT SOURCES FOR A STREAMING CONTENT SESSION - Various embodiments of a system and method for assignment and switching of content sources for a streaming content session are described. Embodiments may include the generation and use of content source rankings for improving playback quality of content streams. In embodiments, a merchant system may collect and aggregate multiple quality metrics for different content streams that various content sources provide to various clients. The merchant system may utilize the quality metrics to generate rankings of content sources for clients. The merchant system may provide such rankings to clients to improve the content stream playback experience on the client. For instance, at content acquisition time, a client may request a content stream from a content resource ranked highest on a content source ranking provided by the merchant. If the content stream degrades, the client may source subsequent portions of the content stream from another highly ranked content source of the ranking.12-10-2015
