20090298575 | Monitoring Networked Entertainment Devices - Pay to play entertainment machines or devices for gaming, gambling and other entertainment functions used in public spaces such as bars, clubs etc are networked and centrally controlled. A set of schedules is established, each schedule defining a set of attributes for operation of an entertainment device and stored in a database. Each entertainment device in the network is associated with one or more groups of devices, each group having a specified one of said schedules. For each entertainment device in the network, all the schedules that apply to that device are used to determine a subset of attributes that shall prevail in that device and the device is then automatically configured to have that subset of attributes. Event messages generated in each entertainment device are transmitted to a central messaging server on a real-time or batch process basis according to a priority level. A priority is set to the different event messages maintained in the queue. | 12-03-2009 |
20100017326 | Credit Handler For Entertainment Device - Pay to play entertainment machines or devices for gaming, gambling and other entertainment functions used in public spaces such as bars, clubs etc are networked and centrally controlled. Each entertainment device has at least one payment mechanism such as a coin acceptor or a card reader. Content executables (e.g. games) are configured to use a set of generic payment instruction messages to communicate with the payment mechanisms. A credit handler module translates generic payment instruction messages to and from specific payment functionality messages as used by the different payment mechanisms and also applies any transaction processing logic that is required consequent on the particular domain of operation of the entertainment device, e.g. legal requirements. Thus, locally applicable requirements relating to credit handling operations in the real and virtual environment of the entertainment device can be implemented without modifying content executables. | 01-21-2010 |
20100062835 | Configuring Networked Entertainment Devices - Pay to play entertainment machines or devices for gaming, gambling and other entertainment functions used in public spaces such as bars, clubs etc are networked and centrally controlled. The messaging server forwards subsets of the event messages to respective subscriber entities according to a classification and/or attribute of the messages and as determined by a subscription profile of the subscribing entities. | 03-11-2010 |

20090240510 | Balanced Scorecard Method for Determining an Impact on a Business Service Caused by Degraded Operation of an IT System Component - A “balanced scorecard” method is disclosed for determining degrees of impact on business service elements (BSE's) caused by degradations of configuration items (CI's) in an underlying IT system. The formulas are used by an Impact Calculation Engine (ICE) of a Business Services Management (BSM) system. They provide enhanced accuracy by accounting for “service aspects” of alerts (using categories such as performance, availability, security, end user, capacity, and financial) and/or degrees of CI degradation (in some embodiments using OSI Standards). The method eliminates manual assignment of degrees of impact. Preferred embodiments convert alerts to a common alert format, determine a separate degree of impact for each service aspect, and use default formulas when custom formulas are not provided. Some embodiments use a service subscription wizard to at least partly automate the assignment of CI-to-BSE relationships. Different balanced scorecards can apply to the same BSE at different times, dates, usage levels, etc. | 09-24-2009 |

20080304977 | Use of Fluidic Pumps - The invention provides a method for the transportation of at least one material in a molten state from a first location to a second location, the method comprising the use of transfer means comprising a fluidic pump to effect the transportation of said at least one material. The preferred type of fluidic pump is the Reverse Flow Diverter (RFD) Pump. Preferably, the at least one material in a molten state comprises at least one molten inorganic salt or molten metal, preferably alkali metal halides such as potassium chloride or lithium chloride, or eutectic mixtures thereof. The materials are in a molten state, at a temperature which is usually in excess of 200° C. A preferred gas for use according to the method of the invention is dry argon. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the method of the present invention is applied to the transportation of molten salts in dry conditions in various applications in the nuclear industry. | 12-11-2008 |

20110153610 | TEMPORAL SCOPE TRANSLATION OF META-MODELS USING SEMANTIC WEB TECHNOLOGIES - Implementation of a meta-model service of a service oriented architecture industry model repository into a web ontology language representation of at least one topic map meta-model into a plurality of temporal scope topic map meta-models representing states of the at least one topic map meta-model at different times. The implementation includes assigning topics, occurrences, and attributes from the meta-model service to the at least one topic map meta-model. The topics, occurrences, and attributes are assigned from the at least one topic map meta-model to plurality of temporal scope topic map meta-models. The topics, occurrences, and attributes from the plurality of temporal scope topic map meta-models are converted into resource description framework triples; and the resource description framework triples are persisted into the resource description framework repository. | 06-23-2011 |

20150381610 | LOCATION-BASED DATA SECURITY - In an example, a system and method are disclosed for location-based security for devices such as portable devices. A portable device may be provided with a short-range transceiver (such as RIFD) that is detectable when a user enters or exits an area. The device may also include an encrypted storage divided into a plurality of discrete units. Upon entering an area, the devices identity and location are provided to a policy server. In response, the policy server may wirelessly provide security tokens to the portable device that enable decryption of specific storage units authorized for access in that area. When a user passes back through a portal to the area, the security tokens are revoked, so that access to secured units of the storage is restricted. | 12-31-2015 |

20100154620 | Optical Pickup for a Musical Instrument - This invention relates to an optical pickup for a musical instrument based on one or more than one Bragg grating. In one embodiment the optical pickup includes at least one Bragg grating in physical contact with a vibrating structure of the musical instrument so as to receive acoustic vibration associated with the musical instrument being played, such that a spectrum of the Bragg grating is modulated upon receipt of the acoustic vibration. A light signal reflected from the at least one Bragg grating may be amplified and the output may be directed to a loud speaker or other real-time output device. The output may also be directed to a data acquisition system for storage and further processing. The optical pickup may include two Bragg gratings arranged as an optical cavity. | 06-24-2010 |
