20130046899IPV6 LAN-SIDE ADDRESS ASSIGNMENT POLICY - Techniques are presented for assigning a network address to a computing device. In one embodiment, a network device such as a router may be responsible for assigning a network address (e.g., an IP address) to a connected computing device. For example, in IPv6, the network device provides the computing device with a 64-bit prefix that the computing device then uses to generate a 128-bit unique IP address. The network device typically receives this prefix from another server located in the WAN. In case of a communication failure with the WAN, the network device may be unable to attain the correct prefix. Instead of assigning a random prefix that may cause a conflict if the computing device uses the incorrect prefix on the WAN, the network device may assign a different IP address using a different communication protocol—e.g., IPv4. The computing device can then use IPv4 to access both the LAN and the WAN without risking a conflict.02-21-2013

20090257888MULTIPLE CHAMBER PUMP AND METHOD - Disclosed is a pneumatically powered high-pressure and lightweight fluid pump. The pump is useful for pumping fuel for liquid rocket engines and for transferring liquids from one space vehicle to another. During operation of the pump, liquid is drained from a tank into a pump chamber and the chamber is then pressurized to deliver fluid. The chamber is then refilled from the main tank. An auxiliary chamber supplies fuel while the main chamber is being filled, thereby a steady stream is delivered from the pump. The auxiliary chamber is refilled from the tank while the main chamber is delivering fluid. In order to transfer fluid from the tank to the pump chamber, the pressure in the pump chamber is maintained at a pressure higher than the vapor pressure of the fluid being pumped but lower than the pressure in the tank.10-15-2009

A valve is disposed between the fluid chamber and an exhaust passage for selectively allowing air to be exhausted from the fluid chamber via the exhaust passage. A diaphragm, coupled to a bias chamber, is also coupled to the valve for moving the valve between the open position and the closed position. Bias pressure within the bias chamber is regulated, at least in part, by a loading fluid impedance and a venting fluid impedance.10-20-2011

20090301495NASAL CONTINUOUS POSITIVE AIRWAY PRESSURE DEVICE AND SYSTEM - An nCPAP device including a generator body defining first and second fluid flow circuits each including a tube and first and second nozzles. The tube defines a passageway forming an axial centerline. The first and second nozzles are associated with the tube and each defines an inlet and an outlet. The inlets are open to a fluid supply, whereas the outlets are open to the passageway. Each nozzle is adapted to emit a fluid jetstream from the outlet along a flow direction axis. The nozzles are arranged such that the flow direction axes are non-parallel relative to each other and relative to the axial centerline. This configuration readily induces vortex shedding during an expiratory phase, thus facilitating jet fluid flow disruption and reducing a patient's work of breathing.12-10-2009

20090044372Handheld Portable Devices for Touchless Particulate Matter Removal - Handheld portable devices for dislodging and capturing particulate matter that has accumulated on various surfaces or structures are provided. The devices create opposing airflows that can intimately interface with each other during use. A vacuum airflow is drawn into the device, defining a vacuum affected zone upon the surface being cleaned. A high pressure airflow is emitted that penetrates through or passes adjacent to the opposing vacuum airflow and contacts the surface being cleaned, dislodging particulate matter therefrom. The high pressure airflow can be emitted from multiple nozzles as a series of airflow bursts that discretely contact the surface being cleaned. The configuration of each nozzle, as well as the overall arrangement and positions of all the nozzles together, are selected to impart the desired particulate matter dislodging characteristics to the device.02-19-2009
20100089058Combustion Powered Hydroelectric Sequential Turbines - This invention is a method to extract energy from a pressurized gas in the case that the gas may be unsuitable for use in a gas turbine. The system is a gas powered liquid pump. The system expands the gas against a liquid such as water and the water then flows through a series of liquid turbines to generate power. As the gas expands the pressure decreases. The water is initially directed to a turbine designed to work efficiently with high-pressure water, and then the water is redirected to another turbine which is designed to work efficiently with lower pressure water. As the pressure of the gas and the water decreases, the turbine which most efficient for extracting the energy at a given pressure is used to extract the energy from the stream of pressurized water04-15-2010

The devices include a body segment and a nose segment extending away therefrom. A high-pressure assembly generates a high-pressure airflow that is directed to a nozzle assembly in the nose segment. From the nozzle assembly, the high-pressure airflow can be emitted from multiple nozzles as a series of airflow bursts that discretely contact the surface from which the particulate matter is being dislodged. The configuration of each nozzle, as well as the overall arrangement and positions of all the nozzles together, is selected to impart the desired particulate matter dislodging characteristics to the device, and the device may incorporate a vacuum airflow to remove the particulate matter after such matter has been dislodged.11-17-2011
20130185966Pulsed Supersonic Jet with Local High Speed Valve - A pulsed supersonic jet excavator uses a short duration blast of air to excavate using a minimum amount of air and a minimum reaction force. This device uses a fast acting valve to create a jet of air that lasts about as long as it takes to develop. The result is a device that works much more efficiently than existing air jet excavators. This device can be mounted on a small robot and allow it to dig, whereas a normal backhoe type excavator would just lift the robot when attempting to dig in packed earth.07-25-2013

The data structure approximates the social distance of the searching user to the content at query time. A graph is created of content recommended by members of the social network, where the nodes of the graph include content nodes (for the content) and recommending member nodes (for members of the social network who recommended the content). If a member recommends content, an edge is created between the member node and the content node. If a member is a “friend” (tagged as related in some way) of another member, an edge is created between the two member nodes. Each node is converted to a lower dimensional feature set.
