For other races, the specified prediction may include an identification of the winner or of one of the first two, three, four, or five finishers. Each wager entry includes predictions for all of the identified race events. Winnings are allocated from a wager pool based on the wager entries having completely correct entries or entries that are correct for most of the race events. | 10-09-2008 |

20090234767 | Cost-based financial product - In accordance with the principles of the present invention, a cost-based financial product is provided. The cost-based financial product is created at a front end that differentiates at the access level, thereby providing two distinct products—one evolving from direct arbitrage; the other an indigenous copy—that are essentially the same that can flow separately into different service entities. A fixed yield or amount of supply of a first component is divided into a variable yield of a second component that represents the cost basis relationship sought, thereby creating a partial supply devisor quotient scale—a new scale of cost unit change that becomes the new price array on the front end. A front-end application ladder can be created by substituting a price per divisor supply (whether shares of stock, bushels of grain, etc.) quotient scale for the matrix price array of the cost component to accept the expanding or contracting value of the gross changes of the cost product value. Each trade price increment allowing buying or selling of those differentials as they occur in the mimicked cost product ladder or the indigenous one. The cost-based financial product of the present invention enables an indigenous marketplace where traders can make a directly offsetting trade at any of the trade prices, thereby bypassing the arbitrage base by choosing to use the indigenous one. | 09-17-2009 |

20080212565 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING PROPAGATION DELAYS FOR USE IN WIDE AREA NETWORKS - A system and method for determining a signal propagation delay between a transmitter and a receiver, and for adjusting a transmission time based on the propagation delay. A central station inserts a marker into a transmitted signal at a time corresponding to a received timing signal. The MCT receives the signal from the central station and determines a time difference between receipt of the marker and the detection of the time interval event. A transmission by the MCT is adjusted by an amount of time proportional to the time difference. | 09-04-2008 |

20090037594 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IMPROVING COMPUTER NETWORK SECURITY - Computers connected to a private network are monitored and controlled through the use of a client agent that operates in association with the computer and a server client that establishing security parameters, privileges and authorizations for the computer. The invention can prevent access to certain devices according to an active security policy. Any activity of the computer, such as a request to transfer data to an external device, access a particular file, etc. is monitored and controlled by the client agent. No operations or procedures are allowed by the computer inconsistent with the active security policy. The security policy may be set by the administrator of the private network according to the user rights and position in the organization | 02-05-2009 |
20090125646 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SECURING INPUT FROM AN EXTERNAL DEVICE TO A HOST - The pureness of a connection between an external device and a host computer can be inspected or monitored to determine the status: connected or disconnected. When it is determined that a disconnection state is entered, an indication can be sent to the host and, in parallel, the data transportation from and/or to the external device may be manipulated. In some embodiments an exemplary connection protector device (CPD) may be added to the connection in between the external device and the host. The CPD can have two connectors one for the host and one for the cable of the external device. The CPD can be adapted to identify any disconnection in the connection with the host and/or the connection with the external device on the other side of the CPD. | 05-14-2009 |
20100071030 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SECURELY IDENTIFYING COMPUTER STORAGE DEVICES - In a private network setting in which various computers can be attached, the confidential or sensitive data within the various devices on the private network is vulnerable. The ability to copy such confidential or sensitive data to a storage device communicatively coupled to a client computer on the network is governed and controlled. Only devices that include an authentic stamp or digital certificate can be accessed by client computers. If a device does not have a valid stamp or the stamp has been black listed, then the access to the device can be prevented or greatly limited. | 03-18-2010 |
