20110171040 | Wind Powered Sea Pump - A wind powered sea pump comprises a propeller, rotor, one or more pumps and one or more flywheels. The present invention relates to a pump powered by the wind to move cold subsurface water from a lower level of the sea to the warmer surface water. The wind powers the rotor causing the shaft to rotate, thereby transmitting power to: one or more pumps, to pump colder sub-surface water from the depths; one or more flywheels to provide gyroscopic stability to entire platform and to a propeller to offset the force of the wind pushing back the wind powered sea pump. The hull provides a sump for a single hose connector to feed water to pumps from a pickup hose of desired diameter to a desired depth. The force of the wind powers the sea pump to transport colder water from a lower depth to the sea surface. A sea anchor provides a pivot point to keep the wind powered sea pump oriented directly into the wind and the weather vane helps with the wind orientation as well as providing space for use as an advertising bill board. | 07-14-2011 |

20090214085 | REDUCTION OF INCORRECTLY IDENTIFIED DOCUMENT SCANNING DEFECTS - In general, this disclosure describes techniques of reducing the possibility of an image evaluation device incorrectly identifying defects in images of documents. Some defects may be apparent in the images of both sides of a document. For instance, a tear in a document could be apparent in an image of a front side and an image of a rear side of the document. However, the image evaluation device could erroneously identify such a tear in an image of one side of the document. In this case, the tear would not be apparent in the image of the other side of the document. To reduce the possibility that the image evaluation device erroneously identifies such a defect, the image evaluation device may determine whether defects identified in the image of the front side of the document correspond to defects identified in the image of the rear side of the document. | 08-27-2009 |

20120081440 | DROP VOLUME COMPENSATION FOR INK SUPPLY VARIATION - The present invention relates to a method that enables image quality of a printed image to be maintained by reducing unintended variations in drop volume, through the adjustment of ink drop ejecting conditions depending on the amount of ink remaining in an ink tank chamber or reservoir, and/or the ink demand for printing an image. The method of printing of the present invention comprises: providing a printhead in fluid communication with an ink chamber or reservoir; detecting at least one parameter related to an amount of negative pressure provided to the printhead; and adjusting an ink drop ejecting condition of the printhead as a function of the parameter so that an amount of variation in size of ejected ink drop is reduced. | 04-05-2012 |

The thermal degassing unit includes a thermally-induced pressure build-up time to increase the pressure in the air chamber. The air chamber is allowed to cool which causes internal pressure to drop below ambient and draws gas out of the ink. | 04-05-2012 |
20120081484 | METHOD OF THERMAL DEGASSING IN AN INKJET PRINTER - A method of reducing air in an ink passageway in an inkjet printer by pressurizing a thermally actuated degassing unit that includes an air chamber, venting air through a check valve configured to allow air to vent from the air chamber to ambient when the pressure in the air chamber exceeds ambient air pressure by a predetermined amount The pressurizing is performed by heating an element inside the air chamber. A power supply is connected to the heating element, and power is applied to the heating element during a first time interval to increase the pressure in the air chamber above ambient pressure. Gas is vented from the check valve which allows the heating element to cool during a second time interval to reduce the pressure in the air chamber below ambient pressure. Gas is then drawn from the ink passageway through the membrane into the air chamber. | 04-05-2012 |

20120153143 | ELECTROSPRAY AND NANOSPRAY IONIZATION OF DISCRETE SAMPLES IN DROPLET FORMAT - Droplets or plugs within multiphase microfluidic systems have rapidly gained interest as a way to manipulate samples and chemical reactions on the femtoliter to microliter scale. Chemical analysis of the plugs remains a challenge. It has been discovered that nanoliter plugs of sample separated by air or oil can be analyzed by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry when pumped directly into a fused silica nanospray emitter nozzle. Using leu-enkephalin in methanol and 1% acetic acid in water (50:50 v:v) as a model sample, we found carry-over between plugs was <0.1% and relative standard deviation of signal for a series of plugs was 3%. Detection limits were 1 nM. Sample analysis rates of 0.8 Hz were achieved by pumping 13 nL samples separated by 3 mm long air gaps in a 75 μm inner diameter tube. Analysis rates were limited by the scan time of the ion trap mass spectrometer. The system provides a robust, rapid, and information-rich method for chemical analysis of sample in segmented flow systems. | 06-21-2012 |

20110216480 | CIRCUIT BREAKER TRIP UNIT SUPPORT - A support for anchoring a trip unit of a circuit breaker to a base thereof to prevent separation of the trip unit from the base during a short circuit fault. The support has top-facing two locking tabs that snap into place behind a wall in a lug-receiving area of the base. The support also has an opening through which a terminal of the trip unit is received snugly. The locking tabs keep the support in place and prevent forces produced by gasses during a fault from forcing the trip unit away from the base. The terminal, attached to the trip unit, is retained by the opening, which transfers upward forces to the top of the support, which is positioned against a top section of the base. The snug fit by the terminal through the opening and retention of the support in the lug-receiving area during a fault increases post-fault dielectric performance. | 09-08-2011 |
20120055765 | PORTABLE REMOTE RACKING DEVICE FOR A CIRCUIT BREAKER - A portable, remote racking device that is controlled by a remote control. The remote racking device includes a drive that fits into a corresponding crank access hole formed in a front panel of a cradle housing a circuit breaker installed into a switchgear. The remote racking device includes an actuator pin that abuts a corresponding button arm protruding through the front panel. The remote control includes a control for depressing the button arm and another control for causing a motor to rotate the drive. The actuator pin detects when the button arm pops out of the panel, and a circuit in the remote racking device briefly reverses the motor to bring it and the circuit breaker to a sudden stop, preventing the mechanical linkages of the mechanism from locking-up or becoming damaged and avoiding over-torquing the motor. | 03-08-2012 |
