20110060939HIGH AVAILABILITY VIA DATA SERVICES - Application-level replication, the synchronization of data updates within a cluster of application servers, may be provided by having application servers themselves synchronize all updates to multiple redundant databases, precluding the need for database-level replication. This may be accomplished by first sending a set of database modifications requested by the transaction to a first database. Then a message may be placed in one or more message queues, the message indicating the objects inserted, updated, or deleted in the transaction. Then a commit command may be sent to the first database. The set of database modifications and a commit command may then be sent to a second database. This allows for transparent synchronization of the databases and quick recovery from a database failure, while imposing little performance or network overhead.03-10-2011

20110272941PIPE JOINT AND SEAL WITH BAND CLAMP - First and second exhaust system pipes in one of several embodiments are joined in a fixed fluid tight joint comprising a first flared flange on a first pipe and a flared flange portion on a second pipe. The flange portion is part of a second flange on the second pipe spaced from the second pipe end edge forming a pipe segment forming a corner with the second flange. A seal is between the two flanges abutting the second pipe segment. The first flange has a convex spherical outer surface and a concave inner spherical surface engaged with a first outer convex spherical surface portion of the seal, the radius of the flange inner surface is larger than the radius of the seal first outer surface portion forming a first tangential engaged contact point. A band clamp has two depending legs which respectively engage the first flared flange of the first pipe and the second pipe flared flange portion for forcing the flanges and pipes together and against the seal. A first clamp leg engages the first flange outer convex spherical surface at a second tangential contact point. The other conical leg of the clamp engages the second pipe flared flange portion. The two tangential contact points define a plane normal to the corresponding engaged surfaces providing enhanced stress concentration from the clamp to the pipes via the first flange and seal.11-10-2011

20110277413SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LEAKING CRACK REPAIR - Disclosed is a system and method for providing a concrete crack repair system that is capable of providing a pressurized seal that continues to resist the ingress of water even as the crack continues to open and close over time. A compressible seal is provided that may be inserted into and adhesively joined to a machined groove that follows the contour of the crack in the concrete surface. After its installation in the machined groove, grout may be injected into the machined groove below the compressible seal so as to fill the space between the compressible seal and the bottom of the machined groove, which grout may also flow into the groove that is adjacent the bottom of the machined groove, thus allowing pressurized grouting of the crack itself. The compressible seal may also include an interior, hollow chamber that may allow inflation of the compressible seal within the machined groove, thus forming a permanent pressurized seal above the crack.11-17-2011
