In accordance with the invention, municipal, industrial, and farm sewage sludge, including recalcitrant sludge, can serve as a carbon source to support the metabolism of synthetic microorganisms to produce biofuels and bioenergy products. | 12-31-2009 |
20100159539 | METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PRODUCING BIOFUELS AND BIOENERGY PRODUCTS FROM XENOBIOTIC COMPOUNDS - The present invention provides methods and systems for producing biofuel and bioenergy products using, as starting raw material, xenobiotic materials or compounds. The xenobiotic materials or compounds may originate from industrial or chemical plants, municipal waste, pharmaceutical products, cosmetic and personal care products, or other sources, and may include aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated organic solvents and other halogenated hydrocarbons, as well as heteroaromatic compounds. In accordance with the invention, these materials act as a carbon source to support the metabolism of xenobiotic-degrading microorganisms, thereby producing biomass and/or biogas that may be converted to bioenergy products by microbial synthesis. For example, the biomass may be converted to products such as ethanol, methanol, butanol, and methane, among others. The biogas may be converted to hydrogen gas and biodiesel, among others. Thus, the present invention couples the microbial breakdown (decomposition) of xenobiotic materials with the microbial synthesis of biofuel, thereby supplying needed (inexpensive) energy products, while reducing environmental pollution and contamination, and reducing the costs associated with disposal of hazardous waste. | 06-24-2010 |
20110165639 | REFINERY PROCESS TO PRODUCE BIOFUELS AND BIOENERGY PRODUCTS FROM HOME AND MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE - The present invention provides methods of a process (SOLWASFUEL system) for producing biofuel and bioenergy products using, as starting raw material, home and municipal organic solid waste, including recalcitrant lignocellulosic materials of paper, cardboards, organic plastics, cellulose plants, and food waste. In accordance with the invention, home and municipal solid waste, can serve as a carbon source to support the metabolism of synthetic microorganisms to produce biofuels and bioenergy products. | 07-07-2011 |

20100077436 | SYNCHRONIZED HOME AND VEHICLE AUDIO VISUAL SYSTEM AND METHOD - A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a controller to update a profile of preferences and recordings maintained at a central server when a user modifies preferences and recordings at a customer premises at a digital video recorder (DVR) or set top box (STB) with respect to a video on demand system via a link through the Internet and when a user modifies preferences and recordings with a video on demand system within a vehicle. The controller can also enable downloading audio-visual information synchronized with the video on demand system via a first wireless communication system to the vehicle in response to requests sent using a second wireless communication system. Other embodiments are disclosed. | 03-25-2010 |
20100114730 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PURCHASING ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSIONS - Provided are methods, apparatus and systems for the sale of digital content over a network. The disclosure herein discusses the recording of a broadcast of a digital data stream by a broadcast receiving device. A listener may select a particular digital data stream to purchase by selecting a content identifier associated with the digital data stream of interest at the recording device. Upon obtaining the selection, a purchase request message is transmitted to an intermediary communication device. The purchase request message includes at least the content identifier. After the transaction is completed at a transaction server, a purchase confirmation message including at least a digital rights management key associated with the digital data stream is returned to and received by the broadcast receiving device. Upon receipt, of the digital rights management key, the recorded digital data stream is released for reproduction. | 05-06-2010 |
20140241698 | SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF PROCESSING PROGRAMMING WISH LIST DATA - A method includes receiving, from a first user of a media distribution system, first wish list data identifying a program and a first program option associated with the program. When the first wish list data is received, the program is not scheduled for transmission via the media distribution system based on a published program guide available to the first user. The method also includes receiving, from a second user of the media distribution system, second wish list data identifying the program and a second program option associated with the program. The method further includes determining interest in the program based on the first program option and the second program option. | 08-28-2014 |
