20100179103CURCUMIN CYCLODEXTRIN COMBINATION FOR PREVENTING OR TREATING VARIOUS DISEASES - Curcumin has shown anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic properties that could be useful in treating various diseases such as those of rheumatology and oncology. However, curcumin is very poorly absorbed and has a very low bioavailability. This patent describes a method of increasing the delivery of curcumin by complexing it with cyclodextrins. Cyclodextrins are well known in the food industry and have been used to carry other drugs to increase bioavailability. The new combination of cyclodextrins and curcumin has been tested in pre-clinical inflammation models where it has demonstrated efficacy superior to both the positive control and curcumin.07-15-2010

20150066156ROBUST SWING LEG CONTROLLER UNDER LARGE DISTURBANCES - Local swing leg control was developed that takes advantage of segment interactions to achieve robust leg placement under large disturbances while generating trajectories and joint torque patterns similar to those observed in human walking and running. The results suggest the identified control as a powerful alternative to existing swing leg controls in humanoid and rehabilitation robotics. Alternatively, a detailed neuromuscular model of the human swing leg was developed to embody the control with local muscle reflexes. The resulting reflex control robustly places the swing leg into a wide range of landing points observed in human walking and running, and it generates similar patterns of joint torques and muscle activations. The results suggest an alternative to existing swing leg controls in humanoid and rehabilitation robotics which does not require central processing.03-05-2015

20130147050SEMICONDUCTOR HAVING INTEGRALLY-FORMED ENHANCED THERMAL MANAGEMENT - A semiconductor structure and method of manufacturing that has integrally-formed enhanced thermal management. During operation of a semiconductor device, electron flow between the source and the drain creates localized heat generation. A containment gap is formed by selectively removing a portion of the back side of the semiconductor device substrate directly adjacent to a localized heat generation area. A thermal management material is filled in the containment gap. This thermal management material enhances the thermal management of the semiconductor device by thermally coupling the localized heat generation area to a heat sink. The thermal management material may be a Phase Change Material (PCM) having a heat of fusion effective for absorbing heat generated in the localized heat generation area by the operation of the semiconductor device for reducing a peak operating temperature of the semiconductor device.06-13-2013

20080313267OPTIMIZE WEB SERVICE INTERACTIONS VIA A DOWNLOADABLE CUSTOM PARSER - A method, system and computer program product for optimizing web service interactions. A server receives a service request from a client, where the service request includes information that is used by the server to provide a customized parser to the client that allows optimal web service interactions. Upon the server providing a link to the client to download this customized parser, the client downloads the parser and embeds the parser into its runtime environment. The parser in the client is then able to receive and transmit communications from and to the server, respectively, in a most efficient manner. For example, the parser may reduce the size of the XML message size more considerably than compression algorithms. In another example, if the client and server communicate in different languages, the parser may translate the messages between the client and server so that the messages are understandable.12-18-2008
