20100260047Optimized Scheduling Method for Delay-Sensitive Traffic on High Speed Shared Packet Data Channels - The present invention supports a scheduling protocol on a wireless communication network to transmit data packets stored in a queue from a user. Two performance metrics are generated and summed to provide a priority. The performance metrics are based on the delay for the data packets stored in the queue and the rate that the data packets can be transmitted on the network. The user with the higher calculated priority for the current time slot has its data packets transmitted.10-14-2010
20110019768METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SPECTRALLY EFFICIENT LINK ADAPTATION USING HARQ IN OFDMA SYSTEMS - A method increases spectral efficiency in a communication system. The communication system includes at least one mobile station and is capable of transmitting messages encoded according to a plurality of available modulation coding schemes (“MCSs”). Each available MCS includes a modulation scheme and an effective coding rate. The MCSs are indexed according to increasing complexity. A signal-to-interference ratio (“SINR”) is determined which is sufficient to satisfy a predetermined frame error rate (“FER”). A first MCS and a corresponding amount of transmissions needed to satisfy the predetermined FER at the SINR using the first MCS are determined. The first MCS has a higher effective coding rate than a second MCS. The second MCS sufficiently satisfies the predetermined FER at the SINR in a single transmission. A message encoded according to the first MCS is transmitted through the communication system using hybrid automatic repeat request (“HARQ”)01-27-2011

20110301553Antimicrobial lubricant - An antimicrobial lubricant combines an antimicrobial agent, preferably silver based, with a silicone lubricant. This is achieved by first formulating a lubricant solution that has a non-volatile silicone lubricant and a volatile solvent carrier. An antimicrobial agent is added to the lubricant solution. The solution is then subjected to ultrasonic energy so that the antimicrobial agent is uniformly mixed with the lubricant in the solution. The solution containing the antimicrobial lubricant may be sprayed onto a medical device, for example the outer surface of the catheter of a peripheral IV catheter. After the solvent flashes off, a coat of uniform antimicrobial lubricant is formed on the catheter surface. The antimicrobial lubricant coating facilitates the insertion of the catheter to a patient, and at the same time prevents the growth of microorganisms from the device and infection to the patient.12-08-2011

20130151865Securing microprocessors against information leakage and physical tampering - A processor system comprising: performing a compilation process on a computer program; encoding an instruction with a selected encoding; encoding the security mutation information in an instruction set architecture of a processor; and executing a compiled computer program in the processor using an added mutation instruction, wherein executing comprises executing a mutation instruction to enable decoding another instruction. A processor system with a random instruction encoding and randomized execution, providing effective defense against offline and runtime security attacks including software and hardware reverse engineering, invasive microprobing, fault injection, and high-order differential and electromagnetic power analysis.06-13-2013
20130326236Security of Program Executables and Microprocessors Based on Compiler-Architecture Interaction - A method, for use in a processor context, wherein instructions in a program executable are encoded with plural instruction set encodings. A method wherein a control instruction encoded with an instruction set encoding contains information about decoding of an instruction that is encoded with another instruction set encoding scheme. A method wherein instruction set encodings are randomly generated at compile time. A processor framework wherein an instruction is decoded during execution with the help of information provided by a previously decoded control instruction.12-05-2013
20140173262Energy-Focused Compiler-Assisted Branch Prediction - A processing system to reduce energy consumption and improve performance in a processor, controlled by compiler inserted information ahead of a selected branch instruction, to statically expose and control how the prediction should be completed and which mechanism should be used to achieve energy and performance efficiency.06-19-2014
20140372994Energy-focused re-compilation of executables and hardware mechanisms based on compiler-architecture interaction and compiler-inserted control - A method comprising of analyzing and transforming a program executable at compile-time such that a processor design objective is optimized. A method including analyzing an executable to estimate energy consumption of an application component in a processor. A method including transforming an executable to reduce energy consumption in a processor. A processor framework controlled by compiler inserted control that statically exposes parallelism in an instruction sequence. A processor framework to reduce energy consumption in an instruction memory system with compiler inserted control.12-18-2014
20160085554ENERGY-FOCUSED COMPILER-ASSISTED BRANCH PREDICTION - A processing system to reduce energy consumption and improve performance in a processor, controlled by compiler inserted information ahead of a selected branch instruction, to statically expose and control how the prediction should be completed and which mechanism should be used to achieve energy and performance efficiency.03-24-2016
