20110290561 | Downhole Hydraulic Jetting Assembly, and Method for Stimulating a Production Wellbore - A method for forming lateral boreholes from an existing parent wellbore is provided. The wellbore has been completed with a string of production casing. The method generally comprises providing a downhole tool assembly having a whipstock. The method also includes running the assembly down into the parent wellbore. A force is applied to the assembly to cause the whipstock to rotate within the wellbore into an operating position. In this position, a curved face of the whipstock forms a bend-radius substantially across the inner diameter of the casing. A jetting hose is run into the wellbore. Upon contact with the curved face of the whipstock, the jetting hose is re-directed through a window in the production casing. Hydraulic fluid is injected under pressure through the hose to provide hydraulic jetting. The hose is directed through the window and into the formation to create a lateral borehole extending many feet outwardly into a subsurface formation. A downhole tool assembly for forming lateral boreholes from a parent wellbore is also provided herein. The assembly utilizes substantially the entire inner diameter of the casing as the bend radius for a hydraulic jetting hose. | 12-01-2011 |

20080257560 | Running Tool for Expandable Liner Hanger and Associated Methods - A running tool includes subassemblies which release the running tool from the liner hanger in response to application of alternating tensile and compressive forces after application of left-hand torque. A running tool includes subassemblies which set the liner hanger in response to left-hand torque followed by increased pressure, and in response to increased pressure without prior left-hand torque being applied. A running tool includes threaded connections, without torque transmitted through the running tool being transmitted by the threaded connections. A method of setting a liner hanger includes applying a compressive force to the running tool; then applying left-hand torque to the running tool; and then applying a tensile force to the running tool. A method of releasing a liner hanger includes applying left-hand torque to the running tool; and then releasing the running tool from the liner hanger by applying a tensile force to the running tool. | 10-23-2008 |

20120213948 | LOCALIZED MICROWAVE SYSTEM AND METHOD - A system for repairing a crack in a component, or forming a joint between two components, is described. The system includes a filler material; a plasma-generating material; and a ceramic cover that is positioned around the crack, or around an interface region between two components that are to be joined. The filler material is positioned proximate to the crack or the interface region; and the plasma generating material is positioned in the vicinity of the crack or the interface region. A microwave generator for generating a microwave field inside an enclosure region enclosed by the cover, and proximate to the crack or interface region, also forms part of the system. Related methods for filling at least one cavity in a casting component are also described. | 08-23-2012 |

20100304444 | METHOD OF AMPLIFICATION - The present invention relates generally to a method of amplifying a nucleic acid region of interest and, more particularly, to a method of amplifying a nucleic acid region of interest via a nested single tube PCR. The method of the invention is designed to provide a means to selectively inactivate the functionality of the outer primer or primers and to maintain amplification efficiency throughout the reaction. The development of a means to achieve efficient amplification by the outer primer followed by efficient amplification with the inner primers, in the context of a single tube nested PCR, is useful in a range of applications including, but not limited to, the diagnosis and/or monitoring of disease conditions which are characterized by specific gene sequences and the characterization or analysis of specific gene regions of interest. Still further, the method of the present invention enables quantification to be performed and not just simple detection. | 12-02-2010 |
20120058515 | METHOD OF REGULATING OLIGONUCLEOTIDE FUNCTIONALITY - The present invention relates generally to a method of regulating oligonucleotide functionality and, more particularly, to a method of regulating the functionality of a primer or probe. The method of the invention is designed to provide a means to selectively inactivate or activate the functionality of an oligonucleotide, such as a primer, thereby providing means to regulate the progress of any method using that oligonucleotide. The development of a means to regulate the functionality of an oligonucleotide, such as a primer, is useful in a range of applications including, but not limited to, amplification reactions such as PCR, isothermal amplification and nucleic acid strand extension. With respect to amplification reactions, these have wide utility including the diagnosis and/or monitoring of disease conditions which are characterised by specific gene sequences and the characterisation or analysis of specific gene regions of interest. | 03-08-2012 |
