20160101227 | Medical Treatment System and Methods Using a Plurality of Fluid Lines - Improvements in fluid volume measurement systems are disclosed for a pneumatically actuated diaphragm pump in general, and a peritoneal dialysis cycler using a pump cassette in particular. Pump fluid volume measurements are based on pressure measurements in a pump control chamber and a reference chamber in a two-chamber model, with different sections of the apparatus being modeled using a combination of adiabatic, isothermal and polytropic processes. Real time or instantaneous fluid flow measurements in a pump chamber of a diaphragm pump are also disclosed, in this case using a one-chamber ideal gas model and using a high speed processor to obtain and process pump control chamber pressures during fluid flow into or out of the pump chamber. Improved heater control circuitry is also disclosed, to provide added or redundant safety measures, or to reduce current leakage from a heater element during pulse width modulation control of the heater. Improvements are also disclosed in the application of negative pressure during a drain phase in peritoneal dialysis therapy, and to control the amount of intraperitoneal fluid accumulation during a therapy. Improvements in efficiency are also disclosed in the movement of fluid into and out of a two-pump cassette and heater bag of a peritoneal dialysis cycler, and in the synchronization of the operation of two or more pumps in a peritoneal dialysis cycler or other fluid handling devices using a multi-pump arrangement. | 04-14-2016 |

20110042214 | ELECTROREGENERATION APPARATUS AND WATER TREATMENT METHOD - A water treatment apparatus that includes a cation exchange chamber containing a cation exchange resin and an anion exchange chamber containing an anion exchange resin. A bipolar interface is located between the resin chambers and defines a zone of water disassociation. A cathode communicates with the cation exchange chamber through a cation exchange membrane. An anode communicates with the anion exchange chamber through an anion exchange membrane. Dilution or flushing water flows through cathode and anode chambers and conveys captured ions to a drain or other waste connection. A baffle may be used in some configurations to divide a resin chamber into an exhausted resin region and a regenerated resin region and causes incoming water to flow through the exhausted resin region first. The exhausted resin region is located near its associated electrode, thus improving the electrical efficiency of the cell. In an alternate design, the apparatus includes a cathode/anode chamber, an anode chamber and an auxiliary electrode chamber disposed between the cathode/anode chamber and a cation exchange media chamber. An anion exchange membrane separates the cathode/anode chamber from the auxiliary electrode chamber. The anode chamber, cathode/anode chamber and auxiliary electrode chamber are energized in predetermined sequences to create both service cycles which produce softened water with reduced ionic content and cleaning cycles to de-scale the auxiliary electrode chamber and/or anion exchange membrane located between the cathode/anode chamber and the auxiliary electrode chamber. | 02-24-2011 |

20140151294 | Method and Apparatus for Residential Water Recycling - A wastewater recycling system includes a biological reactor having anaerobic, anoxic, and aerobic chambers. A lift station including a pump is operatively connected to the biological reactor. The lift station receives biologically treated liquid from the biological reactor and pumps the liquid from the lift station. A filtration subsystem is operatively connected to the lift station. The filtration subsystem receives and filters the liquid pumped by the lift station. The filtration subsystem includes a salt-rejecting membrane filter comprising a concentrate recirculation conduit operatively connected to recirculate salt-rejecting membrane filter concentrate to a point along the wastewater recycling system upstream of the salt-rejecting membrane filter, thereby forming a salt concentration loop between said point along the wastewater recycling system and the salt-rejecting membrane filter. A post-filtration subsystem is operatively connected to receive salt-rejecting membrane filter permeate, and comprises a water disinfection system that disinfects the permeate thereby generating potable water. | 06-05-2014 |

20160024648 | Process for making triple graded CVC-CVD-CVC silicon carbide products - A chemical vapor composite process for making high quality silicon carbide suitable for optical and structural components with low intrinsic stress and high thermal stability. In the CVC process solid micron-scale silicon carbide particles are incorporated into a high purity chemical vapor stream and injected into a high temperature furnace. Three layers of silicon carbide are vapor deposited on the graphite mandrel. The first layer is a sacrificial layer, deposited utilizing the chemical vapor composite process. The second layer is the optical cladding CVD layer, which is deposited by continuous deposition of the high purity chemical precursor without the silicon carbide particles. This layer is ground and polished to a high optical finish. The third layer is the bulk of the mirror structure and deposited via the CVC SiC process as described above. The thickness of this structural layer is determined by the product's geometrical and structural requirements. | 01-28-2016 |
