20100103707 | Contactless Interface - Power extracted from an antenna inductively coupled to an alternating magnetic field is regulated to provide voltage supplies. In some implementations, a first voltage supply (e.g., 3.8 volts) provides regulated voltage to analog circuits and a second, lower, voltage supply (e.g., 1.4 volts) provides regulated voltage to digital circuits. The first voltage supply is regulated, using shunt regulation, by a first voltage regulator circuit. The second voltage supply is regulated, using a series regulation, by a second voltage regulator circuit. The second voltage regulator circuit is supplied by the shunted current from the first voltage regulator. Excess shunt current provided by the first regulator circuit can be bypassed (e.g., bypassed to ground). The second voltage regulator circuit can use a timer circuit to control the amount of charge transferred to a second voltage supply rail. The timer circuit can compensate for different currents from the first voltage regulator circuit. | 04-29-2010 |

20090303135 | ANTENNAS - Embodiments of the invention relate to a broadband antenna structure and an antenna arrangement comprising the antenna structure and an electronic device. In one aspect, the antenna employs an electrically conductive enclosure with a closed end, over which a non-electrically conductive cover is placed. A radiating portion of the antenna feed layer comprising a conductive patch antenna element is placed in between the enclosure and the cover. This patch antenna element design is inherently broader band than that of conventional cavity-backed slot-radiating antennas, which are constrained in bandwidth by the need to keep the cavity formed in the enclosure small, so that the column elements may be arranged in an array at substantially half-wavelength spacing. The new design suffers less compromise in terms of bandwidth in achieving the same size constraint. This is achieved in part by the dielectric constant of the dielectric material of the cover reducing the required size of the conductive antenna element, compared to the size that would be required if the radiating portion were covered with a material with the dielectric constant of air. In another aspect, this broadband antenna structure is connected with an electronic device to form an antenna arrangement, wherein a portion of the antenna feed layer extends outside of the antenna housing through an opening in a surface of the antenna housing, said portion being within the electronic device enclosure of the electronic device. Connecting the electronic device directly to the antenna according to embodiments of the invention reduces the amount of coaxial cables needed or eliminates the need for coaxial cables completely. As a result the usual costs associated with coaxial cables, the RF losses introduced by the cables which can compromise the system performance, possible failure of the cables, lease costs for the space the cables occupy and lease costs for large footprint of the building or cabinet housing the electronic device are substantially reduced or eliminated. | 12-10-2009 |

20130263557 | MACHINE AND SYSTEM FOR APPLYING CONTAINER CARRIERS TO CONTAINERS - A container packaging system for containers applies an apertured plastics film carrier stock to substantially identical containers such as beverage cans having annular chimes, cylindrical side walls, and frusto-conical walls between the chimes and the side walls. The carrier stock has shaped apertures to securely retain drinks cans, food cans, bottles and similar containers, as a multi-pack unit. The carrier stock is rolled onto suitably juxtaposed containers engaging a tabbed aperture edge portion progressively from above to below the upper edge of the respective containers to be multi-packed and assumes a waveform 3D conformation to unitise the containers. The rolling method contrasts prior stretch application methods and enables cheaper and thinner carrier stock to be used. | 10-10-2013 |

20140041806 | LABELING DEVICE FOR LABELING OBJECTS, IN PARTICULAR MOVING OBJECTS - A labelling device includes a linearly displaceable piston operably connectable to a moving mechanism for moving the piston from a resting position to a labelling position. A label carrying mechanism is arranged at the distal end of the piston for carrying an adhesive label and affixing the adhesive label to an object via physical contact at the labelling position of the piston. A force-switching-state system is provided to maintain the piston in relation to the moving mechanism in an attracting force state and the piston moves with the moving mechanism. The physical contact creates an opposite repelling force from the object onto the label carrying mechanism causing separation of the displaceable piston from the moving mechanism. This separation causes a change of the force state of the displaceable piston from an attracting to a repelling force state, causing the linearly displaceable piston to move back to the resting position. | 02-13-2014 |

20110131014 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR GENERATING A MODEL OF AN OBJECT - A method of generating a model of a real object derived from a model of a second object, the model of the second object being defined by an array of data points, a number of identifiable components and a number of further components, comprises measuring parameters of corresponding identifiable components of a real object corresponding to the identifiable components in the model the second object. An array of data points defining a first model of the real object is generated the measured parameters. A further model of the real object is generated by substantially aligning the model of the second object with the first model of the real object, placing identifiable components represented in the model of the second object into positions corresponding to positions of equivalent components in the real object as defined by the measured parameters, placing the further components represented in the model of the second object into positions on the first model of the real object to represent corresponding components in the real object and adjusting the positions of one or more of the components placed on the first model of the real object to generate the further model of the real object. There is also disclosed an apparatus for generating a model of a real object. | 06-02-2011 |
