20100107436 | METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING A FREEZE DRYING PROCESS - A method for monitoring and/or controlling a freeze drying process is characterized by the use of an estimator algorithm. A product to be dried is arranged in at least one container on a temperature-controlled shelf in the drying chamber of a freeze dryer apparatus. During a primary drying phase, the drying chamber is isolated by closing an isolating valve. Pressure values inside the drying chamber are measured and collected for a defined pressure collecting time and a temperature of the temperature-controlled shelf. A product temperature for the product is calculated together with a plurality of process/product related parameters. A new shelf temperature is calculated with a sequence of shelf temperatures up to the end of the primary drying phase that maximizes a sublimation rate of the product in order to maintain the product temperature below a maximum allowable product temperature. | 05-06-2010 |

20130006546 | METHOD FOR MONITORING PRIMARY DRYING OF A FREEZE-DRYING PROCESS - A freeze-drying process includes a primary drying phase. Within this phase, a test is performed for causing a variation of partial pressure of solvent inside a drying chamber. At the beginning of the test, a product sublimation flux, a total pressure and a partial pressure of the solvent in the drying chamber are measured. A product temperature is estimated at the interface of sublimation at the beginning of the test. The solvent vapor pressure at the interface of sublimation is calculated as is a resistance of a dried layer of the product to the vapor flow of the solvent. Next, a thickness of a frozen layer of the product is calculated and a coefficient of heat transfer between heating surface and product is also calculated. An initial temperature profile of the frozen product is then calculated as is a total pressure in the drying chamber. A value of the product temperature at the interface of sublimation at the beginning of test is determined and a time constant of the freeze-drying process is calculated. | 01-03-2013 |

20090005554 | Reduced Malto-Oligosaccharides - Disclosed are a method for the reduction of an oligosaccharide mixture and an oligosaccharide mixture prepared thereby. In accordance with the disclosed invention, a mixture of oligosaccharides having a given DP profile is reduced to a DE of essentially zero by catalytically hydrogenating the mixture under reaction conditions sufficient to preserve the DP profile of the mixture, which reaction conditions typically include a reaction temperature ranging from about 50° C. to about 150° C. and a reaction pressure ranging up to about 1500 psi. Surprisingly, when the mixture is a malto-oligosaccharide mixture, the reduced mixture will have a superior color-fastness and thermal stability as compared to a similar unreduced mixture of malto-oligosaccharides, and also low reactivity towards nitrogen-containing species. | 01-01-2009 |

20090269381 | Pest Control Agent - Disclosed are a pest control composition, a method of pest control, and a method for preparing a pest control composition. The pest control composition includes diatomaceous earth, a porous granular starch, and a control agent, the control agent generally being an oleaginous material that is film-forming on a water surface. The pest control composition generally is in the form of discrete plural compacted particles. Upon release, for instance, onto a body of water, the control agent will be released from the pest control composition and will form a film over at least a portion of the body of water. | 10-29-2009 |
20120022168 | Pest Control Agent, Method for Manufacture of Pest Control Agent, and Method for Pest Control - Disclosed are a pest control agent, a method for preparing a pest control agent, and a method for controlling a pest. Generally, the pest control agent is formed by providing a porous starch and an active control agent absorbed within the porous starch, and compressing the porous starch in the presence of heat to form discrete plural particles. Preferably, one or more binders are employed, as are one or more secondary absorbents/fillers. In highly preferred embodiments of the invention, the pest control agent is prepared via pelletizing in a commercial pellet mill. The particles so prepared should be sufficiently durable to withstand bulk transport, such as by rail car or bag shipment. The particles should, however, release the control agent quickly upon contact with water, such that, for instance, the control agent may be released when the pest control agent is introduced to standing water. It is contemplated that the control agent is preferably a mosquito control agent. | 01-26-2012 |

20100297332 | Process For Preparation Of High-Fiber Product - Disclosed is a process for treating a grain to form a product that is high in dietary fiber on the basis of dry solids content relative to the grain. Generally, the process includes subjecting the grain product to a destarching step, typically via aqueous treatment in warm water, followed by screening. The intermediate product thus formed is subjected to steam, typically in a jet cooking step, to yield a product that is higher in dietary fiber on a dry solids basis than the intermediate product previously formed. The grain is typically wheat bran, but may be other grains such as rice or oats. | 11-25-2010 |

20150026606 | SYSTEM AND FRAMEWORK FOR MULTI-DIMENSIONALLY VISUALIZING AND INTERACTING WITH LARGE DATA SETS - An apparatus and method for accessing and controlling data has a computer coupled to a display screen and to a source of a plurality of data items. The computer is programmed with a program having a graphical user interface that displays symbols on the display screen that represent the data items. The symbols may be displayed and colored in groups based upon the similarity of content of the data that the symbols represent. The content may also generate labels for the symbols. Lines extending between symbols graphically indicate the relatedness of the data that the symbols represent and the size of symbols may indicate the calculated relevance to user interests. | 01-22-2015 |
