20090129499 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPLEMENTING SPACE FREQUENCY BLOCK CODING IN AN ORTHOGONAL FREQUENCY DIVISION MULTIPLEXING WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for implementing space frequency block coding (SFBC) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication system. The present invention is applicable to both a closed loop mode and an open loop mode. In the closed loop mode, power loading and eigen-beamforming are performed based on channel state information (CSI). A channel coded data stream is multiplexed into two or more data streams. Power loading is performed based on the CSI on each of the multiplexed data streams. SFBC encoding is performed on the data streams for each of the paired subcarriers. Then, eigen-beamforming is performed based on the CSI to distribute eigenbeams to multiple transmit antennas. The power loading may be performed on two or more SFBC encoding blocks or on each eigenmodes. Additionally, the power loading may be performed across subcarriers or subcarrier groups for weak eigenmodes. | 05-21-2009 |

The UE and base station are in communication with one of the plurality of base stations and receives a communication signal through the receiver. The communication signal is correlated using a delay locked code tracking loop, that estimates and tracks a channel delay. The tracking loop comprises a reference code generator and an interpolator for generating timed signal versions in response to said communication. A timed signal correlator, included in the tracking loop for correlating at least two of the timed signal versions with the code reference signal. The result of the correlation is used for generating an error signal. An automatic power normalization loop (APN), that is responsive to the interpolator, generates a power error signal that normalizes the error signal through a normalization circuit. | 08-27-2009 |

20120275540 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SUBCARRIER AND ANTENNA SELECTION IN MIMO-OFDM SYSTEM - A method and apparatus for radio resources control in a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system are disclosed. A channel metric is calculated for each of a plurality of transmit antennas. Sub-carriers are allocated to each transmit antenna in accordance with the channel metric of each transmit antenna. Signals are transmitted using the allocated sub-carriers at each antenna. Adaptive modulation and coding and transmit power control of each sub-carrier may be further implemented in accordance with the channel metric. Power control may be implemented per antenna basis or per sub-carrier basis. In performing power control, a subset of transmit antennas may be selected and waterpouring may be applied only to the selected antennas. Waterpouring may be based on SNR instead of channel response. | 11-01-2012 |
20130265900 | ANTENNA SELECTION AND PILOT COMPRESSION IN MIMO SYSTEMS - The disclosed embodiments relate to a system that facilitates antenna selection and pilot reduction in a multi-antenna system. During operation, in response to an activating event, the system performs a full pilot transmission by transmitting pilot signals through all available transmit antennas at a base station. The system then determines the selected subset of transmit antennas by receiving lists of selected antennas from mobile stations associated with preferred users, wherein a given mobile station selects a list of antennas in response to pilot signals received during the full pilot transmission. The system then combines the received lists to produce the selected subset, wherein the selected subset includes all antennas which appear in the received lists of selected antennas. Next, during normal system operation, the system periodically performs a selected pilot transmission by transmitting pilot signals through a selected subset of the available transmit antennas. | 10-10-2013 |
20140016691 | Adaptive Interference Suppression Using Interference Power Measurements - Systems and methods are disclosed for interference suppression in a mobile device (MS). In certain embodiments, the MS uses handover measurements to detect and measure the interference powers of neighbor cells and sorts them with respect to their power levels. An RSRP ratio of serving cell RSRP to neighbor cell RSRP may be used to determine the interference power levels of the neighbor cells. Alternately, RSRQ may be used to determine the interference power levels of the neighbor cells. The MS may estimate the interference of each cell with an interference power level above a certain threshold and then subtract each interference estimate from the total received signal until all the selected interferers are suppressed. In certain embodiments, the interference suppressed signal may then be equalized and/or decoded. Equalization may occur during suppression of interference from individual neighbor cells or after all neighbor cell interference estimates have been subtracted. | 01-16-2014 |
