20110218828SPATIAL DATABASE SYSTEM FOR GENERATION OF WEATHER EVENT AND RISK REPORTS - The present invention is a tool including a spatial database and a data warehouse used to track portfolio sites that are affected by weather events, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, hail, tornados, or manmade events. A spatial database provides rich spatial geometry features using earth longitude and latitude as a 2-D reference system in spatial system. A insurer portfolio site, which is defined by longitude and latitude data, includes portions that are represented as a point. A weather event is represented as polygon in the spatial database. Based on user configured threshold values, it may be determined when a point falls inside, or on a boundary, of a polygon to identify a site that is affected by that weather event and corresponding reports may be generated, including maps identifying the affected sites and total insured value calculations for the affected sites, in order to gauge risk.09-08-2011

20110066699Synchronization of data among disparate data sources - A method for data exchange among computing systems, such as first and second computing systems, that each operate management systems that normally communicate given data to a target computing system in first and second disparate formats. Representative management systems may be a human resource management system (HRMS), and the target computing system operates an application, such as a payroll application, that interacts with the HRMS of each computing system. The first and second computing systems typically are located in first and second geographic locations distinct from one another. The method begins by instrumenting each of the first and second computing systems to respond to a trigger event from an ODBC-compliant data source to generate a WSDL (Web Services Description Language) object that encapsulates the given data, such as human resource (HR) data. The WSDL objects that are generated as a result of the trigger events are received, preferably via a Web service, at the target computing system. The target computing system then processes information in the WSDL objects.03-17-2011

20080296219Atmospheric bioremediation system and method - An atmospheric bioremediation system and method uses preformed gel-like agar sheets or equivalent biological growth medium, composed to selectively enhance the growth of microalgae in defined environmental conditions. Agar is heated and liquefied and soluble iron is added to the agar in predetermined proportions. The agar solution is also modified for salinity concentration and ph in order to conform to the levels found in the marine environment to which the agar sheets are to be introduced. This is done in order to provide a slow-time release of the iron to prevent premature precipitation. Also, the osmotic variance needs to be equalized by salinity concentration and ph adjustment to prevent premature osmotic migration of the iron molecules when in gel form. Once formed, the gel sheets are transported to defined bodies of water, e.g. areas of the ocean, by marine vessels, preferably in seagoing containers, where they are systematically released onto the water's surface, to help stabilize any surface turbulence. Microalgae growth will be initiated by the iron content and sustained and mechanically stabilized by the agar sheets. Since agar sheets float, they will remain at the surface, facilitating monitoring and mechanical control of the resulting biomass. Containment booming can be used to provide boundaries in which the sheets are located.12-04-2008
20110263168Gaseous fluid vessel propulsion system - A bow mounted gaseous fluid vessel propulsion system provides for the introduction of gaseous fluids, e.g. ambient air and/or exhaust fluid gas from the vessel's engine, into the enclosure or duct which houses or circumscribes the propeller. Air and other fluid gases are drawn down into the upper section of the enclosure or duct to allow the propeller to operate in a half submerged, or water surface-piercing condition, while the vessel is moving forward through the water. The beneficial effects of water surface-piercing propeller operation is thereby obtained within a self-contained unit which continually maintains the top of the propeller out of the water during normal forward vessel operation.10-27-2011
