20120199695SELF-STOWING JUMPSEAT FOR AIRCRAFT - A self-stowing jumpseat consists of a seat frame that is deployed by pulling the seat frame out of a pocket formed in the edge of a bulkhead. Once the seat frame has been deployed and locked in position, the seat pan is folded down to enable a user to be seated. The seat pan is spring-loaded to fold up, so that when the user vacates the seat, the seat pan automatically folds up into the closed configuration. As it does so, an interlock lever attached to the seat pan trips the seat frame locks from their locked to their unlocked positions. The seat frame has a retraction mechanism that urges the seat into the pocket. Accordingly, as soon as the seat pan interlock lever releases the seat frame locks, the retraction mechanism causes the folded seat frame to move into the stowed position within the bulkhead.2012-08-09

An embodiment is centered on the use of a system with a much wider tunable laser, which today has a scan band of more than 150 nanometers (nm) to as much as 250 nm or more. In some cases the scan band is about 400 nm or more. This is achieved in the current embodiment through the use of a widely tunable microelectromechanical system (MEMS) based Fabry-Perot filter as an integral part of the laser cavity. Using this technology, these systems are capable of capturing a variety of gases in the any of the well-known spectroscopic scan bands, such as the OH, NH or CH. For example, a single laser with a 250 nm scan band window between 1550-1800 nm can capture ten or as many as twenty hydrocarbon-based gases simultaneously.2012-08-09

20120199750RADIOGRAPHIC IMAGE DETECTOR AND GAIN SETTING METHOD FOR RADIOGRAPHIC IMAGE DETECTOR - In a radiography system, after a radiation dose, signal charges are accumulated in sensor pixels in an imaging area of a flat panel detector corresponding to the dosed amounts of radioactive rays on the pixels. The signal charges are read out from the pixels and converted into voltage signals representative of density levels of respective pixels of a radiographic image. Before reading the signal charges, a dose profile representative of distribution of the dosed amounts of radioactive rays is measured by leak currents from the pixels or bias currents through bias lines for applying a bias voltage to the pixels. Based on the contrast or difference between the maximum value and the minimum value in the dose profile, a gain of amplifiers for the voltage signals is determined such that the gain increases with decreasing contrast.2012-08-09

The pixels include a short pixel directly connected to a signal line, and a comparative pixel connected to another signal line through a TFT. In irradiation detecting operation, a control section monitors a voltage signal from the short pixel. When the voltage signal is a predetermined threshold value or more, the control section detects the start of X-ray irradiation, and provisionally starts charge accumulation operation. Then, the control section calculates the difference in the voltage signal between the short pixel and the comparative pixel. When this difference is another threshold value or more, the detection of the start of X-ray irradiation is judged to be valid. When the difference is less than the threshold value, the detection is judged to be misdetection caused by shock noise. The charge accumulation operation is aborted, and the irradiation detecting operation is restarted.2012-08-09
