20090195361Array Antenna System and Algorithm Applicable to RFID Readers - Embodiments of the invention pertain to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) method and system using an antenna array, an array controller, and control algorithms. Embodiments of the invention can induce strong radio-frequency (RF) excitation, for a given level of radiated RF power, at any point within an arbitrary inhomogeneous medium. For RFID applications, one typical inhomogeneous medium is an ensemble of cases on a pallet. Another typical medium is a warehouse environment having stored goods together with shelving and other material present. An embodiment of the invention is applicable to the process of reading battery-less, or “passive” RFID tags, which rely on incident RF electromagnetic fields established by RFID readers to power the electronic circuitry within the tags.2009-08-06

20090195459 ULTRA WIDEBAND ANTENNA - An antenna printed on a dielectric substrate having a radiating element and a transmission line printed on a front surface of the dielectric substrate and a ground element printed on a back surface of the dielectric substrate. The radiating element has a tapered shape with a narrow end connected to a first end of the transmission line, and two opposing edges of the radiating element contiguous to the transmission line. The radiating element further has a v-shaped notch distal from the first end of the transmission line wherein a broader end of the v-shaped notch having two opposing ends contiguous to the opposing edges of the radiating element thereby forming a two symmetrical lobes which diverge with increasing distance from the first end of the transmission line. The opposing edges of the radiating element further having a plurality of serrations along its length thereby forming a slow wave structure for signal propagating along the edges.2009-08-06
20090195460ENDFIRE ANTENNA APPARATUS WITH MULTILAYER LOADING STRUCTURES - A plurality of conductive strip elements compose multilayer loading structures on top and bottom surfaces of a dielectric transmission substrate, by which a part of intra-substrate transmission components of a electromagnetic wave are leaked out of the surfaces. Each multilayer loading structure includes a first conductive strip group of conductive strip elements within a first plane, and a second conductive strip group of conductive strip elements within a second plane, and the first and second conductive strip groups are formed to be capacitively coupled to each other. In each of the first and second conductive strip groups, the conductive strip elements are placed at intervals of a distance of a quarter or less of a reference adjacent distance, where the reference adjacent distance is defined as a distance for generating spatial harmonics of the electromagnetic wave on the surfaces of the dielectric transmission substrate.2009-08-06
