20110084513Internally tracked slider system for low profile contractible canopy - A canopy deployment and retraction mechanism particularly suited to cover the cargo compartment of an elongated vehicle such as a railroad car. Each of a series of tarpaulin-supporting, parallel bows has sliders at each end riding into a pair of funnel-shaped channels having their flat bases vertically secured to the upper inside lateral wall sections of the compartment. The spacing between the bases of the channels is lesser than the total length of a bow and its sliders and provides a degree of play in order to accommodate slight variations in the width of said compartment, and allow for self-centering of the cover. The shape of the channels allows for the placement of the cover retraction mechanisms such as cables and sliders within the outer periphery of the container, reducing bulk. The downward slope of the channel lower side further improves the evacuation of debris under the wiping action of the traveling sliders. The upward slope of the channel upper side further improves the sealing of the deployed canopy against the intrusion of rain water.2011-04-14

The aerodynamic assembly includes a right half mounted on the right hand door and a left half mounted on a left hand door. Each half is constructed with a side panel, top panel and bottom panel, which each form half of an overall tapered box when deployed on the rear of the vehicle, the bottom panels and top panels being sealed together at a pair of overlapping weather seals along the centerline. The panels are relatively thin, but durable, and are joined to each other by resilient strip hinges. The top and bottom panels are also hinged to form two sections along diagonal lines to facilitate folding of all panels in a relatively low-profile stacked orientation. This low profile allows the doors to be swung through approximately 270 degrees to be secured to the sides of the body in a manner that does not interfere with adjacent doors or bodies in, for example a multi-bay loading dock. A swing arm assembly and gas spring biases the panels into a deployed position that can be refolded by grasping the side panel and rotating it inward toward the door surface. The top and bottom panels are partly inwardly folded when deployed to define external valleys using a stop assembly. This ensures that the panels fold readily when desired without the two sections of the panels “locking up”.2011-04-14

20110084596ELECTRON EMITTING DEVICE, AND ELECTRON BEAM DEVICE AND IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS INCLUDING THE SAME - A device includes a substrate, an insulating member disposed on a surface of the substrate, a gate, and a cathode. The insulating member has an upper surface apart from the surface of the substrate, and a side surface rising from the surface of the substrate between the upper surface and the surface of the substrate. The gate is disposed on the upper surface of the insulating member. The cathode is disposed on the side surface of the insulating member and has a portion opposing the gate. The side surface of the insulating member on which the cathode is disposed has a protruding portion protruding from an imaginary line connecting a position where the portion opposing the gate lies and a position where the insulating member rises from the surface of the substrate.2011-04-14
20110084597ELECTRON BEAM APPARATUS AND IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS USING THE SAME - There is provided a new electron beam apparatus which improves the instability of an electron emission characteristic and provides a high efficient electron emission characteristic. The electron beam apparatus includes: an insulating member having a recess on its surface; a cathode having a protruding portion extending over the outer surface of the insulating member and the inner surface of the recess; a gate positioned at the outer surface of the insulating member in opposition to the protruding portion; and an anode positioned in opposition to the protruding portion through the gate.2011-04-14
