20110055156METHOD FOR EFFICIENT STORAGE NODE REPLACEMENT - Methods and apparatus are described for a horizontally scalable high performance object storage architecture. The receiving system may calculate hash values on one or more portions of a file and compare the values to the values in the hash table file.2011-03-03
20110055180UPDATE-TRIGGERED DOCUMENT-DEFINED WORKFLOW - A computer-implemented update-triggered document-defined workflow method provides for triggering an update to an original source document to yield an updated document. In response, a document handler executes the document-defined workflow method so as to create, delete, or modify a target document or so as to create a workflow description calling for creating, deleting, or modifying a target document.2011-03-03
20110055181Database Quiesce Operations - A technique to quiesce a database without causing after-arriving access requests to abnormally terminate interrogates database management system control structures associated with the database. Specified modifications to these control structures can be made so that subsequent access requests to the database (i.e., during quiesce operations) are not abnormally terminated. Once quiesced, regular or special purpose maintenance or testing operations, the starting or stopping of log keeping operations or similar operations may be made to the database. Once these are complete, the database control structures may be updated again to permit pending/scheduled access requests to proceed.2011-03-03
20110055182FILE SYSTEM - In response to a request to a file system to perform a requested update, a lock of a first node in a file system can be acquired, and an update of the first node can be performed while the lock of the first node is held. Also in response to the request, a lock of a second node can be acquired, and an update of the second node, which reflects the update of the first node, can be performed while the lock of the second node is held. The update of the first node can be independent of acquiring the lock of the second node. A file system can allow a pair of update operations to be performed in parallel where both operations include updating the same container node. Additionally, while a file system is running, new namespace types can be defined, and the file system can be extended to manage nodes within the new namespace types.2011-03-03
20110055183High Performance Real-Time Read-Copy Update - A technique for reducing reader overhead when referencing a shared data element while facilitating realtime-safe detection of a grace period for deferring destruction of the shared data element. The grace period is determined by a condition in which all readers that are capable of referencing the shared data element have reached a quiescent state subsequent to a request for a quiescent state. Common case local quiescent state tracking may be performed using only local per-reader state information for all readers that have not blocked while in a read-side critical section in which the data element is referenced. Uncommon case non-local quiescent state tracking may be performed using non-local multi-reader state information for all readers that have blocked while in their read-side critical section. The common case local quiescent state tracking requires less processing overhead than the uncommon case non-local quiescent state tracking.2011-03-03
