A dynamic bone fixation plate can include a first plate section, a second plate section, and a compressible interlock member. The first plate section includes a first joint structure and the second plate section includes a second joint structure, where the second joint structure can be dynamically mated with the first joint structure. 20080234681 | Dynamic cervical plate - A dynamic cervical plate has a ratchet and pawl mechanism that allows the cervical plate to post operatively shorten the length of the plate and maintain compression between adjacent vertebrae. The plate has an elongated shaft with grooves on one surface and a groove along each longitudinal edge. A lateral bar is attached on one end of the shaft. The bar has screw holes for connecting with the head of a spinal screw. Another lateral bar is slidably engaged in the longitudinal grooves along the shaft and has a spring clip acting as a pawl with the grooves on the shaft. 20080281327 | Sliding plate with reinforced slot - A bone plate that may be used to maintain relative position of two pieces of fractured bone, for example, a fractured jaw bone. The bone plate has a slot and holes. The holes are surrounded by walls and the slot is also surrounded by walls. The thickness of walls surrounding the slot at their maximum is greater than the thickness of walls surrounding the holes. Often the nature of the fracture may require bending of the plate for implanting it as desired by the surgeon. Because walls of the slot are designed to be strong, the slot is not deformed when the plate is bent. | 11-13-2008 |
20090076509 | Dynamic cervical plate - A dynamic subsidence plate is described having a first plate member and a second plate member in sliding engagement that may infinitely subside between a first and second assembled position. 20090299370 | DYNAMIZATION OF FIXED SCREW FRACTURE PLATES - A locking fracture plate may become a dynamic locking plate with the removal of a single set screw. The set screw removal may be done at the time of the initial implantation of the fracture plate, or several weeks later after the fracture has been allowed to consolidate. The device of the present invention may allow for the set screw to be removed percutaneously under x-ray control. The dynamized plate may allow for fracture compression but not for fracture displacement (loss or reduction) by rotation or sheer. The dynamized plate, with the set screw removed, may still protect the fracture from rotation and sheer. While conventional fracture plates may rigidly hold the bones in place, thereby potentially slowing bone fusion, or, in extreme cases, resulting in nonunion of the fracture, the fracture plate of the present invention may allow for fracture compression and, therefore, permit bone healing, growth and repair. | 12-03-2009 |

20160074078 | PECTUS BAR STABILIZER - An assembly for surgically treating a chest-wall deformity may include an implantable stabilizer member, an implantable pectus bar and an implantable stopping member. The implantable stabilizer member may include first and second base parts and a channel defined by the first and second base parts. The stabilizer member may include first and second retaining bars extending between the first and second base parts and traversing the channel. The first and second base parts may be adapted to be secured to tissue of the chest wall. The implantable pectus bar may be receivable within the channel of the stabilizer member. The implantable stopping member may be adapted to be engaged with the pectus bar between the first and second retaining bars after the pectus bar is inserted into the channel to restrict movement of the pectus bar relative to the tissue. | 03-17-2016 |
20160089190 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR A COMPRESSING PLATE - An orthopedic bone plate constructed from shape memory material provides the ability to move from an open shape to a compressed shape and create compression on two bones or bone fragments to encourage healing. The plate may be any umber of shapes, with two or more screws anchoring the plate to bone. The plate is affixed to bone in a sequence of steps that involve first placing the plate on an insertion tool, attaching drill guide tubes, placing the plate over bone, drilling holes in bone, and then attaching the plate to the bone via screws. The insertion tool can then be removed at the surgeon's convenience allowing compression on the two bones. | 03-31-2016 |
20160106484 | DYNAMIC CERVICAL PLATE - A dynamic subsidence plate is described having a first plate member and a second plate member in sliding engagement that may infinitely subside between a first and second assembled position. The plate includes a lock assembly associated with the first and second plate members. The lock assembly includes a ramp portion, an interference portion, and a bearing member situated between the ramp portion and the interference portion. The lock assembly of the plate is configured to allow movement of the first member with respect to the second member in a first direction in an infinite number of positions between a first assembled position and a second assembled position. Further, the lock assembly alternatively prevents movement of the first member with respect to the second member in an opposite second direction between the first and second assembled positions. | 04-21-2016 |
20160106485 | Bone Fixation System - A modular bone fixation linkage includes a plurality of interconnected links that can angulate with respect to an adjacent one of the links about at least one axis, such as three axes. The links can further include fixation holes that are configured to receive bone anchors that secure the links to an underlying anatomical structure. | 04-21-2016 |
20160135859 | Hinged Fixation Devices for Combined Upper Jaw Correction - Instrumentation and methods are provided for upper jaw correction surgery. The application discloses an orthopedic system and method that can be used to perform both a first distraction (for example a maxillary distraction) and a second distraction (for example a maxillary expansion) within the same surgical procedure. The instrumentation for separating first and second bone segments can include a first footplate; a second footplate; an actuator arranged to vary a distance between the first and second footplates; and a hinge that rotatably attaches the first and second footplates such that the first and second footplates can be angularly adjusted relative to each other about a pivot axis. Additionally, instrumentation and methods are provided for a hinged fixation device capable of securing and adjusting both the linear separation and angular orientation of bone structures. | 05-19-2016 |
20160143663 | STRUT PLATE AND CABLING SYSTEM - A bone plate assembly and method of utilizing same are disclosed. The assembly includes at least two plates affixed to the bone in two different locations. One of the plates includes a porous bone in-growth surface, and may be entirely porous. The assembly may further include at least one bone screw and cable for affixing the plates to the bone. In the method of use, the plates may be affixed by the screws and/or cables and the plate including the porous surface may be left in place after bone is allowed to grow therein. | 05-26-2016 |
