20080280551 | Garage and Outbuilding Safety Ventilation System - A ventilating system for a garage is provided. The ventilating system comprises an automatic garage door opening mechanism and a hazardous gas detector. The automatic garage door opening mechanism is configured for wireless communication and to move a garage door between an open position and a closed position. The hazardous gas detector is configured for wireless communication and to sense the presence of a hazardous gas within the garage. The hazardous gas detector wirelessly instructs the automatic garage door opening mechanism to move the garage door to the open position when the hazardous gas reaches a predetermined level in the garage. As such, the garage is ventilated. | 11-13-2008 |
20100048122 | DOOR PANEL - The aperture area efficiency of a door panel with a double-panel structure having an outer panel and an inner panel is increased, while turbulent flow of air through ventilation holes is reduced. The outer panel | 02-25-2010 |
20100130118 | INTERIOR ZONE PRESSURIZATION METHOD AND SYSTEM TO REDUCE THE STACK EFFECT PROBLEMS - A method and system for minimizing an incomplete closing phenomenon between an elevator hole and an interior section and a stack effect problem such as strong wind generated when opening an elevator door, which are inevitably generated at upper floors of high-rise office buildings, are provided. The method includes determining a degree of pressurization of the interior section in accordance with target pressure resistance and reduction in passing wind when opening the elevator door, and calculating a supply air volume required for the pressurization and an exhaust air volume from an elevator shaft based on the determined degree of the pressurization. | 05-27-2010 |
20100190431 | HVAC SYSTEM INCLUDING A NOISE-REDUCING FEATURE - A HVAC system includes a housing including at least one wall, an air flow path defined at least partially by the at least one wall, and a door disposed in the air flow path, where the door is configured to i) block a flow of air through the air flow path when the door is in at least one closed position, and ii) allow the flow of air through the air flow path when the door is in a position other than the at least one closed position. A gap is formed between the door and the at least one wall when the door is in the position other than the at least one closed position. The HVAC system further includes a noise-reducing feature defined on at least a portion of the at least one wall. The noise-reducing feature configured to break up, into several smaller structures, an air flow structure formed when air flowing through the gap contacts an end of the door, thereby reducing air vibration in the gap and reducing noise of the HVAC system during operation thereof. | 07-29-2010 |
20100197214 | ADJUSTABLE AIR VENT FOR SLIDING DOOR FRAMES - The present invention provides a cooling system, which is referred to herein as a slider vent, for dwellings or residences that have a sliding patio door or the like. In an embodiment of the invention, the slider vent occupies approximately six (6) inches of the sliding door track and uses two centrifugal fans to exhaust hot interior air within the dwelling directly to the exterior of the residence and draws in cooler exterior air from outside the dwelling via an adjacent open window. The electrical components within the unit are enclosed by an inner housing for consumer safety and to protect them from the elements, and ventilation flows through an assemblage of moveable shutters that remain closed when the fans are not in operation. The unit is powered by a household power source via a plug connected at the bottom of the unit on the interior side. The unit also has a variable speed control to adjust air flow, located in the center of the unit, also on the interior side. For security purposes, the slider vent locks into the door frame in the same fashion as the sliding patio door, and also allows the sliding door to lock into the unit's frame to create a solid barrier to prevent unwanted entry or intrusion. The unit may also include a weather strip that produces a tight seal between itself and the sliding door and prevents the outside elements from penetrating through the crack. The unit may also include insulation to produce a tight seal when the fans are not in use to prevent the loss of air through the system while not in operation. | 08-05-2010 |
20110097987 | TWO PART GRILLE WITH INTERLOCKING CONNECTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY IN DOORS OR THE LIKE - A two part grille with interlocking connections molded from opaque plastic allows one or more screens or filters supported inside the grille and provides a configuration which allows its parts to be fitted on opposite sides of an opening in a wall or a door locked together by a mortise and tenon joint so that no screws are necessary, and the two part grille further have intermediate spacers used to accommodate differing thickness of a wall or the like. | 04-28-2011 |
20110105011 | SHEET METAL FRAME FOR ACCESS DOOR - An access door assembly for use in an air-handling unit provides a structural member that prevents over-compression of gaskets by the access door panel for improved gasket life and effectiveness and increases the thermal efficiency properties or the air-handling unit. The access door assembly has a āZā shaped cross-section and includes a gasket channel and an anti-compression leg having a rim to prevent over compression of the gasket located in the gasket channel. | 05-05-2011 |
20120003913 | Air barrier - A heat transfer inhibitor system to minimize the heat transfer through the structural opening closures with an interior and an exterior panel such as windows, doors and skylights that are the weak links in interior insulation. By moving a stream of constant temperature air through a space between the external panel and the interior panel, the temperature differential between the exterior surface of the internal panel and the interior is minimized thus reducing the load and maintenance costs on heater/AC systems. It also reduces the required size and costs of installations. | 01-05-2012 |
20120003914 | DOOR INSERT FOR BALANCING AIR PRESSURE - The door insert of the present invention balances air pressure in a closed environment. It includes a frame that defines a slot. A pair of tabs emanates from opposing sides of the frame to attach the frame to a door. Media, which has a plurality of apertures therethrough, resides in the slot. The frame, with media installed therein resides within a notch in an edge of a door. Air is permitted to flow through the door insert to balance the air pressure within an environment divided by the door. The frame is preferably ABS plastic and the media is preferably paper. The appearance of the frame and media may be modified to aesthetically match the decor of the door, door hardware and surrounding environment. | 01-05-2012 |
20120214397 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONVECTIVE SILL INSULATION - The present application relates to an arrangement for reducing thermal energy loss through a sill assembly of the type used with a door or window. The sill assembly includes at least one sill member. The at least one sill member has a hollow region therein. The sill assembly further includes a baffle disposed within the at least one sill member. The baffle spans a length of the at least one sill member and divides the at least one sill member into a plurality of chambers thereby limiting interaction of warmer air and cooler air within the at least one sill member. The baffle reduces heat transfer through the hollow region via convection. | 08-23-2012 |
