20110129791SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OBTAINING DENTAL IMPRESSIONS - Certain embodiments of the present invention provide an apparatus to facilitate obtaining a dental impression including a compressible body. The compressible body has a top surface, a bottom surface, and an outer border. The bottom surface is configured to abut a maxillary dental impression tray. The top surface of the compressible body is configured to substantially contact and conform to a surface of a patient's hard palate. As the top surface contacts and conforms to the hard palate, it causes the compressible body to compress. The top surface forms a seal with the patient's hard palate. This seal discourages dental impression material from flowing into the patient's palatal vault. The seal may also discourage the dental impression material from flowing into the back of the patient's mouth. Consequently, the hydrodynamic pressure of the dental impression material may be advantageously increased and the patient's comfort may be reduced. Furthermore, the seal may promote a hydrodynamic flow of the dental impression material against the patient's teeth and into the corresponding gingival sulcus. When the compressible body compresses, the outer border may expand. This expansion may lead to further promotion of the hydrodynamic presser and flow of the dental impression material.06-02-2011

20150010879HYDRAULIC PRESSURE BITE-DOWN DENTAL IMPRESSION - In an exemplary embodiment, a method of creating an impression of structures of the human oral cavity comprises: preparing impression trays: creating a first, or base, impression; grinding out portions of the base impression; and using the void(s) in the ground out base impression to take a second, or wash, impression. The base impression is taken with an excess of a high-density impression material which is positioned to extend beyond the structures of interest (of which the impression is being taken). The base impression is removed and all fine structure surrounding the structure(s) of interest is ground out. A wash impression is then taken using a low-density impression material. The base impression creates a seal around the structure(s) of interest (a closed system), thereby producing omnidirectional hydraulic pressure on the low-density material. Such omnidirectional hydraulic pressure produces a highly detailed final impression from which a high-quality model (e.g., cast) can be made.01-08-2015

20080280249Dental Impression Bite Tray - The present invention is referred to the disposable bite trays among the dental impression trays. The metallic reinforcements of the invented tray are fixed by exposing to the exterior of the connecting loops on the both sides of the impression obtaining walls. The reinforcements should include an impression obtaining membrane in the central portion, the moving freely prevention stair, and various moving freely prevention grooves. The moving freely prevention stair is to fix the plastic supporter and reinforcement together and prevent the individual movement of the supporter and reinforcement. The disposable bite trays are usually made up of plastics because they are easy-to-make materials, cheap, and convenient to use. However, no matter how strong plastics those are used, the connecting loops of the impression obtaining walls on the both sides of the tray will still be thin and narrow. It is because the connecting loops go into the inner space where maxillary and mandibular molars occlude, and so they have to be thin and narrow. In this case, the connecting loops of the impression obtaining walls can become weak and may result in twist or warp of the impression materials when obtaining the dental impression. These deformed impression materials may make difficult to obtain an elaborate teeth impression. Therefore, in the present invention, the metallic reinforcement was added to the connecting loop of the plastic tray. This will make the plastic tray rigid as a metal tray and make adjustable. For instance, dentists may be able to adjust the width of the tray or cross the impression obtaining walls. This customized tray will provide a safe disposable bite tray to obtain an elaborate teeth impression.11-13-2008

20090208896Methods and Devices for Diastema Closure - In a method for closing a diastema and/or papilla regeneration between a first tooth and a second tooth, a dental matrix is used. The dental matrix includes a curved sectional strip of material. The strip has a length from a first end to a second end sufficient to create a form for molding a restorative material to a surface of the first tooth. The strip has a root end section and a second section integral with the root end section. The root end section of the strip is anatomic in shape such that the root end section hugs the gingival portion of the first tooth. In one form, a non-anatomic bulge is formed in the second section. The root end section of the matrix can slide to the depth of the sulcus without lacerating the tissue. After inserting the root end section of the dental matrix into the sulcus between the papilla and the gingival portion of the first tooth, a composite restorative material is placed between the dental matrix and a cervical surface of the first tooth. The composite restorative material is then cured. This creates bulbousness in the cured composite near the gum line to fill the gingival gapping.08-20-2009

The spring has a generally U-shaped portion with a pair of vertically extending legs coupled with the tines at their lower ends and interconnected at their upper ends by a generally laterally extending leg for distributing a stress across a length of the spring in response to the tines being separated from one another.09-26-2013
20130252199Dental Separator Ring - A dental separator ring includes an elastic body having a first end and an opposed second end spaced from the first end. 20140199652CIRCUMFERENTIAL MATRIX BAND - A dental matrix band includes a band having a first end and a second end. The band is folded over with the first end and second end generally aligned. A portion of the band adjacent the first and second ends form opposed facing band portions in contact with one another, and another portion of the band forming a looped band forming a circumference. A first or stationary toggle is secured to the band at the first and second ends with the first toggle stationary with respect to the band. A second or movable toggle is formed over the band and is capable of sliding over the opposed facing band portions in contact with one another, whereby sliding of the movable toggle away from the first and second ends causes the circumference of the looped band to reduce in size.07-17-2014
20150118641TITANIUM AND TITANIUM ALLOYS FOR A DENTAL MATRIX BAND - A matrix band, including a straight, contoured or sectional matrix band for use in dentistry is described. At least one of the feet includes a wedging surface for engaging and holding a sectional matrix foil. Each foot is positioned outwardly from the interproximal space as the ring clamp is being installed between two adjacent teeth, to have each foot exert a force inward against the teeth and foil under the force of the spring when the spring is permitted to retract to its natural shape. A pair of juxtaposed extensions, each extend in the orthogonal direction, respectively inwardly towards each other from the bottom of each foot. These extensions are retained in position by the respective curved surfaces of the teeth to force the foil against one of the two teeth and positively lock the ring clamp from moving out of position.01-21-2016
20160095667Coating for a Dental Matrix Band - A matrix band for use in dentistry has a silicone-based, polymer coating applied to a polyester surface, which reduces or eliminates capillary action between a tooth and the matrix band. 20140199653HYDRAULIC PRESSURE DENTAL IMPRESSION - In an exemplary embodiment, a method of creating an impression of structures of the human oral cavity comprises: preparing impression trays; creating a first, or base, impression; grinding out portions of the base impression; and using the void(s) in the ground out base impression to take a second, or wash, impression. Such omnidirectional hydraulic pressure produces a highly detailed final impression from which a high-quality model (e.g., cast) can be made.07-17-2014

Trays in accordance with features of the present invention are made of a material composition including thermoplastic resin and thermochromic pigment. The material composition softens and changes color in warm water but tends to hold its shape until manipulated by the dentist. The thermoplastic resin portion of the tray can include polycaprolactone resin, styrene resin and dental modeling compound and can vary for specific uses to roughly 50% polycaprolactone /styrene resin and 50% dental modeling compound. Thermochromic pigment can represent up to 5% of the overall material composition of a tray.10-16-2008
