20080219519Method and Apparatus for Rolling Enrollment for Signature Verification - Improved techniques are disclosed for adapting signature verification systems to natural signature variations. For example, a technique for adapting a signature verification system to variations in a signature of a user includes the following steps/operations. One or more signature samples are obtained from the user. The one or more obtained signature samples are submitted by the user as part of a regular authentication procedure associated with the signature verification system. A reference set of signature samples for the user is updated through selection of one or more signature samples from the obtained signature samples, such that the updated reference set is usable by the signature verification system for verifying subsequent signature samples attributed to the user. The selection of the one or more signature samples used to update the reference set is conditioned on a false rejection rate of the user when at least one obtained signature sample of the user is authenticated and on an identification check when no obtained signature sample is authenticated.09-11-2008
20080304719Bi-directional handwriting insertion and correction - Various technologies and techniques are disclosed for providing bi-handwriting directional handwriting recognition and correction. A combined handwriting recognizer is provided that supports left-to-right and right-to-left language recognition by using a combined dictionary. The combined dictionary includes a dictionary from a language in a first direction, along with a backwards version of a dictionary from a language in a second direction. The combined recognizer is used with the combined dictionary to generate a most likely recognition result for mixed direction hand written input received from a user. Character by character correction is provided for mixed left-to-right and right-to-left text. The most likely recognition result is displayed in a visual order. The user can correct a particular character to a different character. When recognized text needs to be sent to a separate application, an inverse bi-directional process is performed to convert the ext from the visual order to the logical order.12-11-2008
20090003663Threshold Score Validation - A method is provided whereby confidence in a validation parameter set is achieved by comparison with a known sample of a parameter in terms of the expected template comparison score as well as mean values and deviation from that score. Thus, with respect to user individual identification, biometric parameters such as fingerprint or handwriting or voice recognition can be utilised to compare the stored template for that individual with the putative biometric response in order to determine deviation from the mean. Previous systems provided a stored template and then ranging either side to simply give a pass/fail response. By adaptation of the ranging quotient for a particular individual, a percentage confidence in the pass/fail response can be achieved. For example an individual -may have a wider range of deviation than another individual and therefore close repetition of the biometric data may be indicative of a lower percentage confidence than with an individual with a narrower deviation. Furthermore, through a learning process, the ranging quotient may he varied as a users actual response varies with age or Otherwise.01-01-2009
20090022374Revocable biometrics with robust distance metrics - Techniques, systems and methods relating to cryptographically secure revocable biometric signatures and identification computed with robust distance metrics are described. 20090046902METHOD OF BORESIGHT CORRELATION OF IMAGER VIDEO TO REFERENCE VIDEO - The present invention provides for simple and streamlined boresight correlation of FLIR-to-missile video. Boresight correlation is performed with un-NUCed missile video, which allows boresight correlation and NUC to be performed simultaneously thereby reducing the time required to acquire a target and fire the missile. The current approach uses the motion of the missile seeker for NUCing to produce spatial gradient filtering in the missile image by differencing images as the seeker moves. This compensates DC non-uniformities in the image. A FLIR image is processed with a matching displace and subtract spatial filter constructed based on the tracked scene motion. The FLIR image is resampled to match the missile image resolution, and the two images are preprocessed and correlated using conventional methods. Improved NUC is provided by cross-referencing multiple measurements of each area of the scene as viewed by different pixels in the imager. This approach is based on the simple yet novel premise that every pixel in the array that looks at the same thing should see the same thing. As a result, the NUC terms adapt to non-uniformities in the imager and not the scene.02-19-2009
20090232366System and method for factory work logging - Provided is an information processing system which has a plurality of tags, a tag reader, a digital-pen, and a server. The plurality of tags each hold a tag identifier. The tag reader reads the tag identifier held in each of the plurality of tags. The digital-pen reads location information, which identifies a location where handwriting is made on paper. The server keeps work record including information that associates the tag identifier recorded in the server in advance with the location on paper. When it is judged that the read tag identifier and a handwriting location identified by the location information are associated with each other, the server judges whether or not the read tag identifier matches the tag identifier recorded in advance that is associated by the work record with the handwriting location identified by the location information. The server outputs a result of the judging.09-17-2009

Hence not only tracking is performed with reference to the tip of a writing implement, but the dynamics of the signature are registered and evaluated by numerical calculation and adopted as the basis for the subsequent comparison, effectively ruling out the possibility of fraudulent duplication or tracing-over of a signature by an unauthorized third party. The dynamics i.e. acceleration and deceleration phenomena and rates of rotation as the signature are executed and effectively registered. From them, supplementary measured variables are calculated and specific characteristics are defined from those variables.
