20090027617 | Method of Manufacturing Rimless Spectacles and a Mask Suited for Use with said Method - The invention relates to a method of manufacturing rimless spectacles in which fasteners of the lugs and the bridge of the spectacles are adhesively bonded to the front side or the rear side of the lenses. In the method first of all two lens blanks are manufactured of a plastic material to the front and rear side of which a coating is applied. The two coated lens blanks are cut and ground in a way that two lenses having a desired lens shape are obtained. At predetermined mounting positions for the fasteners of the lugs and the bridge on the front or rear side of the lenses the coating is removed so as to form joining surfaces which substantially correspond to the joining surfaces of the fasteners as to shape and dimensions. The fasteners are then adhesively bonded to the front side and/or to the rear side of the lenses at the mounting positions. Since in the area of the joining surfaces at the lenses the base material thereof is exposed, a permanently firm adhesively bonded joint can be produced between the fasteners and the lenses on the front or rear side thereof using adhesives known per se. | 01-29-2009 |

Two variations of tensioning assemblies are shown. One tensioning assembly has a spool on which a portion of the wire is wound. Another tensioning assembly has an insert that pulls a portion of the wire inwardly within a projection that extends outward from the lens. | 03-19-2009 |
20100283968 | Method for Determining the Shape of the Bevel of an Ophthalmic Lens - A method for determining the shape of the bevel of an ophthalmic lens so as to have the ophthalmic lens fit a given spectacle frame, the method comprising the steps of: providing the three-dimensional (xi, yi, zi) internal profile of the groove of at least a rim of the spectacle frame expressed in the principal axes (Xf, Yf, Zf) of the spectacle frame and the length Pf of the periphery of the groove of the rim, providing the blocking point of the ophthalmic lens and the horizontal direction Xl of the ophthalmic lens, projecting the three-dimensional (xi, yi, zi) internal profile of the groove of the rim on the front face surface of the ophthalmic lens so as to obtain a three-dimension projected groove shape (xp, yp, zp), modifying the coordinates of each point of the two-dimensional groove shape (xp, yp) based on two correction coefficient, Rx for the coordinate xp and Ry for the coordinate yp, with Rx+Ry=1 so as to have the length Pp of the three-dimensional groove projected shape (xp, yp, zp) equal to the length Pf of the periphery of the internal profile of the groove of the rim. | 11-11-2010 |
20120057124 | Low inventory method of making eyeglasses - A low inventory method of making eyeglasses. Two lens elements having special complementary surfaces are provided. These lens elements can be positioned relative to each other to provide wide ranges of focus correction and astigmatism correction. Various preferred embodiments of the invention are described. In one embodiment the required inventory is only identical sets of two complementary lenses for providing correction for almost all needed eye correction for a typical population. In this embodiment, the lens units are first adjusted relative to each other to provide a desired focusing power. Astigmatism may be corrected by a small adjustment in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction followed by a rotation of the two lenses about the axis of the two lenses. When the adjustments have been made the two lenses are fixed with respect to each other and installed in eyeglass frames. Cutting to the shape of the eyeglass frames can occur either before or after the fixing. | 03-08-2012 |
20120140169 | Method for the Manufacture of Cost-Optimized Spectacle Lenses - A method for manufacture of spectacle glasses from prefabricated blanks without cutting, consisting preferably of plastic or silicate glass, with a front side no to be finished and an opposite back side to be finished by a CNC machine, having at least one optical focus in common, wherein for the finishing of the back side one calculates a prescription surface on the basis of a prescription of a person, describing the vision defects of a left and a right eye, such that the machined back side together with the front side forms a first prescription lens and a second prescription lens, and from these one makes two spectacle glasses, and wherein the focal points of the first spectacle glass correct the vision defect of the left eye and the focal points of the second spectacle glass correct the vision defect of the right eye of the person. | 06-07-2012 |
20120206693 | EYEGLASS LENS PROCESSING SHAPE OBTAINING METHOD - An eyeglass lens processing shape obtaining method for attaching a prescription lens having an edge thicker than an original lens and having refractive power to a rim of an eyeglass frame, in place of the original lens attached to the rim, the method includes: obtaining an outline of the original lens; obtaining an inner boundary of the rim on a surface of the original lens in a state where the original lens is attached to the rim; obtaining an external form processing shape of the prescription lens based on the outline of the lens; and obtaining a step processing shape of the prescription lens based on the inner boundary of the rim. | 08-16-2012 |
20120262670 | CORRECTION OF HIGHER ORDER ABERRATIONS IN INTRAOCULAR LENSES - In one aspect, the present invention provides a method of designing an intraocular lens (IOL) to address variations of at least one ocular parameter in a population of patient eyes. The method can include establishing at least one eye model in which the ocular parameter can be varied over a range exhibited by the population. The eye model can be employed to evaluate a plurality of IOL designs in correcting visual acuity for eyes in the patient population. An IOL design that provides a best fit for visual performance over at least a portion of the parameter range can then be selected. | 10-18-2012 |
20130215381 | NESTED SCREW FASTENER - A threaded-nested-screw fastener has a first fastener adapted to receive a second fastener. The first fastener has an externally threaded shank extending along the length of the first fastener. The externally threaded shank has an internally threaded opening extending at least partially inside the length of the shank for accepting a second fastener. The second fastener has an externally threaded shank having a thread sized to screw into the internally threaded opening of the threaded shank of the first fastener to form a nested screw assembly. | 08-22-2013 |
20140218678 | METHOD OF MAKING EYEWEAR HAVING FLEXIBLE FRAME WITH RIGID LENS RETAINER - A lens is permanently engaged with a substantially rigid lens retaining apparatus to form a lens unit during a formation molding process of the lens retaining apparatus. The rigid lens retaining apparatus is permanently engaged with a substantially flexible eyewear frame during a formation molding process of the frame. Therefore, a secure attachment of lenses to the substantially flexible eyewear frame through rigid lens retaining apparatus is provided. | 08-07-2014 |
