20120187594DRUG CORES FOR SUSTAINED RELEASE OF THERAPEUTIC AGENTS - A solid drug core insert can be manufactured by injecting a liquid mixture comprising a therapeutic agent and a matrix precursor into a sheath body. The injection can be conducted at subambient temperatures. The mixture is cured to form a solid drug-matrix core. The therapeutic agent can be a liquid at about room temperature that forms a dispersion of droplets in the matrix material. A surface of the solid drug core is exposed, for example by cutting the tube, and the exposed surface of the solid drug core releases therapeutic quantities of the therapeutic agent when implanted into the patient. In some embodiments, the insert body inhibits release of the therapeutic agent, for example with a material substantially impermeable to the therapeutic agent, such that the therapeutic quantities are released through the exposed surface, thereby avoiding release of the therapeutic agent to non-target tissues.07-26-2012
20130175728PERMANENT MAGNET PRODUCTION METHOD - With a mandrel inserted in a through hole formed in an extrusion die, a preform filled in the through hole is extruded into a filling space defined between an inner surface of the through hole and an outer surface of the mandrel by pressing the preform with a pressing punch. Consequently, a cylindrical extruded form in which a plurality of stress concentration portions extending along an extruding direction are formed so as to be spaced apart from each other in a circumferential direction is formed. Then, an external force is applied to the extruded form thus obtained to thereby divide the extruded form at the stress concentration portions into a plurality of permanent magnets.07-11-2013

20160375613Method and device for series production of components made of a fiber-reinforced composite material - In a manufacturing method for a component, a clamping force is applied perpendicular to a surface of a first portion of a semifinished product containing reinforcing fibers via opposing first clamping surfaces of a first clamping tool. A clamping force is applied perpendicular to a surface of a second portion of the semifinished product via mutually opposing first clamping surfaces of a second clamping tool, spaced a first distance from the first clamping tool. A shaping device deforms a third portion of the semifinished product lying between the first and the second portions to form a first subportion and an opposite second subportion. The first distance is reduced to a second distance. A clamping force is applied perpendicular to the surfaces of the first and second subportions via a second clamping surface of the first clamping tool and an opposite second clamping surface of the second clamping tool.12-29-2016

20110233815NOVEL COMPOSITION AND FILM USED FOR IRRADIATION MEASUREMENT - A tetrazolium bromide dye, e.g., 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT), to be used as a high dose solution dosimeter is disclosed. The dose response of MTT solution dosimeter increases strongly with increase of absorbed dose up to 1 kGy. In order to increase the dose range and for ease of handling the present dosimeter as routine dosimeter, MTT-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film dosimeter is used. The dose response of MTT-PVA film dosimeters increases strongly with increase of absorbed dose up to 25 kGy. Polyvinyl butyral (PVB) as a polymer for making a film provides more stability at higher temperatures and humidity levels and less calibration is required. The dose response of MTT-PVB film dosimeters is effective with absorbed dose of up to 100 kGy. The effects of irradiation temperature, relative humidity, dose rate and the stability of the response of the films after irradiation were investigated and found that these films could be used as a routine dosimeter in industrial irradiation processing measurements.09-29-2011
