20080308621PUNCHED OUT TABS - A system and method are provided for creating tabs from regular cut-sheet stock after printing by partially punching out a section of a sheet and folding the punched out section back on itself at the remaining side. The location of the punched out section is such that when folded back, a portion of the punched out section sticks out beyond the border of the original paper size. Tab labels may be printed on the back side of the sheet so that when folded out, the tab label is in the correct orientation, i.e., facing front on the folded out tab. The punch head, which is used to punch out the section of the sheet, may be oriented flexibly and moved outboard or inboard. Tabs may be cut and folded to produce a readable set of tabs along any of the top, bottom, lead or trail edges of a sheet.12-18-2008
20110024489METHOD FOR PUNCHING BEFORE PERFORMING ROTATED LAMINATION - A movable punch punches a plate piece from an original material sheet. The punched plate piece is rotated relative to and laminated onto another plate piece. A plurality of projections are formed on the outer circumference of each plate piece. The movable punch has a plurality of projection forming blades, the number of which is greater than the number of the projections of the plate pieces. Prior to the punching of the plate piece by means of the movable punch, blank holes for nullifying the formation of the projections are formed in the original material sheet at positions that correspond to projection forming blades. Further, as the punching of the plate pieces from the original material sheet progresses, the positions of the blank holes are changed.02-03-2011

20100102115METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MASS PRODUCTION OF VARIABLE SHAPED PRODUCTS - A computerized system, method, and computer-readable media implementing a method for mass producing variable shaped printed products is presented. A set of cutlines defining a shape for the ordered item is associated with each ordered item. A ganging system selects a plurality of ordered items to be simultaneously produced. Individual cutter-ready outline files corresponding to the associated set of outlines for each of the items selected for production are rendered and inserted into a gang template to generate an aggregated cutlines gang file. The gang file and at least one sheet of substrate are submitted to a cutting system. The cutting system cuts the individual finished products from the substrate sheet(s).04-29-2010

20090095803Method and apparatus for cutting off glass panes from a continuously produced glass sheet - The method includes continuously detecting glass faults in the glass sheet. Based on the results of the detecting of the glass faults an optimized cutting pattern for cutting crosscut pieces from a predetermined sheet section and for cutting glass panes from the crosscut pieces is determined. In order to reduce waste, the cutting lines for the glass panes are placed sufficiently close to fault-containing glass sheet regions, so that the glass sheet regions to be discarded are minimized, while producing a largest possible number of usable glass panes. The crosscut pieces are then cut out according to the optimized cutting pattern and then the glass panes are cut from the crosscut pieces. An appropriate apparatus for performing the method is described.04-16-2009

20130206829SHEET MATERIAL PUNCHING DEVICE - A sheet material punching device includes a plurality of punches and links, a driving mechanism having drive gears capable of transmitting a rotational driving force of an electric motor (driving source), and slide arms allowed to reciprocate along the longitudinal direction of a frame, the slide arms making the punches reciprocate in a punching direction along with their own reciprocating motions by the intermediary of links. The slide arms respectively have cams capable of converting the rotational motion of the driving mechanism into the reciprocating motions of the slide arms, and auxiliary cams capable of moving the slide arms to predefined initial positions. The drive gears respectively have cam followers to be engaged with the cams, and auxiliary cam followers to be engaged with the auxiliary cams. The sheet material punching device return the slide arms to the initial positions without increasing a driving energy.08-15-2013

20120199642Multiple Punch and Die Assembly Providing Hand Disassembly, Punch Length Adjustment and Replacement - A multiple punch and multiple die assembly has a workpiece protector as a punch lifter that is operatively associated with each punch for supporting each of the punches in an inactive position as an active punch is moved by the ram to the active, i.e. operating position to thereby eliminate scoring or marking of the sheet material or other workpiece that is being punched. To eliminate the need for hand tools and hand assembly or disassembly, a manually moveable retainer on the punch assembly is provided that can be moved by hand between a punch-releasing and punch-retaining position for holding the punches within the multi-punch assembly during operation. To prevent stress fractures that formerly occurred in die carriers, support of each die is distributed between two different die components thereby reducing impact stress on the carrier as the ram drives the punch through the workpiece.08-09-2012

20110095077Film Perforation Apparatus - A rotating perforation apparatus contains a plurality of needle points (or other piercing features) formed along a free-wheeling support bar, where the bar is positioned to contact the film while it is being unrolled and is in a ‘tensioned’ state (in some embodiments, immediately prior to contacting the element to be wrapped). In particular, the free-wheeling perforation apparatus contacts a mechanized film roller such that the exposed needle points will rotate against the mechanized roller and make the perforations in the film as it travels over the film roller. As long as the film roller is formed of a pliable material, the needles will pierce the film and create the desired perforations. The size and placement of needles can be adjusted to provide the required pattern of perforations, as well as dictate the size of the actual perforations.04-28-2011

20130240615PUNCH ASSEMBLY WITH QUICK ATTACH PUNCH POINT AND STRIPPER PLATE REMOVABLY SECURE THEREON - A punch assembly for a turret punch press having a two piece reciprocally movable punch member that has a punch point insert removably attached to a punch driver that allows replacement of the punch point insert without the need to extract the punch member from its punch guide. A locking assembly comprising four vertical guideways containing slider strips for coupling the punch point insert to the punch driver ensures precision registration of the punch point insert with its driver.09-19-2013

20100230483SHEET PROCESSING APPARATUS AND SHEET PROCESSING METHOD - A sheet processing apparatus includes a hole punching section arranged orthogonally to a conveying path of a sheet, a moving mechanism which moves the hole punching section along a direction orthogonal to the conveying path, a detection unit which is arranged upstream from the hole punching section and which moves by being interlocked with the hole punching section and detects a lateral edge of the sheet conveyed thereto, and a control unit which controls the moving mechanism in accordance with the result of detection by the detection unit and varies the position of the hole punching section, thus controlling the punching processing position. The control unit causes the hole punching section to be moved in the direction to the retreat position along with the conveying of the sheet, causes the hole punching section to retreat by a prescribed quantity with reference to the result of detection by the detection unit, then causes the hole punching section to be moved in the opposite direction, and controls movement to the punching processing position in accordance with the result of detection by the detection unit.09-16-2010

20110089228CONTINUOUS WORKING DEVICE - A continuous machining device includes: a film machining mechanism that forms a hole in a film; a holding mechanisms being provided integrally with the film machining mechanism; a slider that supports the film machining mechanism and the holding mechanism in a reciprocative manner relative to a feeding direction of the film; and a return mechanism that returns the film machining mechanism and the holding mechanism to their respective original positions defined on the opposite sides to the feeding direction of the film. When the film is held by the holding mechanism, the film machining mechanism can be moved in synchronization with the film. Thus, after the hole is formed in the film by the film machining mechanism, the film machining mechanism and the holding mechanism can be returned to their respective original positions by the return mechanism as soon as the film is released from the holding mechanism.04-21-2011
