20080203012 | MEMBRANE, APPARATUS, AND ASSOCIATED METHOD - A membrane is provided that is formed from a composition. The composition comprises a polyarylene ether polymer or copolymer comprising a zwitterion; or comprises a polyarylene polymer or copolymer comprising a zwitterion. | 08-28-2008 |
20090134089 | Fish tank filter - A filter for use in filtering and treating contaminated water in an aquarium tank includes a filter bag for receiving a continuous supply of contaminated aquarium water pumped under a predetermined pressure into the interior of the bag. The wall of the bag is composed of a porous filter membrane formed of a laminate of a ePTFE membrane and polypropylene needlefelt material. | 05-28-2009 |
20110290717 | MEMBRANE POST TREATMENT - The invention relates to polymeric ultrafiltration or microfiltration membranes of, for instance, poly(ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene) (HALAR®), PVDF or PP, incorporating PVME or vinyl methyl ether monomers. The PVME may be present as a coating on the membrane or dispersed throughout the membrane or both. The membranes are preferably hydrophilic with a highly asymmetric structure with a reduced pore size and/or absence of macrovoids as a result of the addition of PVME. The PVME maybe cross-linked. The invention also relates to methods of hydrophilising membranes and/or preparing hydrophilic membranes via thermal or diffusion induced phase separation processed. | 12-01-2011 |
20140231340 | COMPOSITE INCLUDING PTFE MEMBRANE - Composites including porous PTFE membranes comprising an intermediate PTFE membrane having a pore rating of from about 2 nanometers to about 20 nanometers, interposed between, and bound to, porous fluoropolymer membranes having larger pore ratings, and methods of making and using the composites, are disclosed. | 08-21-2014 |
20140231341 | PTFE MEMBRANE - Porous PTFE membranes comprising a first porous surface and a second porous surface, and a bulk between the first porous surface and the second porous surface, wherein the membrane has a pore rating of from about 2 nanometers to about 50 nanometers, and the first and second porous surfaces each comprise a ratio of non-fused nodule area to fused nodule area of about 1 or greater, and methods of making and using the membranes, are disclosed. | 08-21-2014 |
20140339155 | POROUS POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE MEMBRANE, POROUS-POLYTETRAFLUOROETHYLENE-MEMBRANE COMPOSITE, AND SEPARATION MEMBRANE ELEMENT - The invention offers a porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane, which is a porous resin membrane produced by the following steps: preparing multiple types of polytetrafluoroethylene each having a different quantity of heat of fusion; using each of the multiple types of polytetrafluoroethylene to form a membrane composed of a fluororesin consisting mainly of polytetrafluoroethylene; heating each membrane to its melting point or above to bake it, so that multiple types of nonporous resin membranes are produced; stacking the multiple types of nonporous resin membranes in the order of the magnitude of the quantity of heat of fusion of the polytetrafluoroethylene used to produce each of the nonporous resin membranes; bonding the stacked membranes with each other; and stretching the bonded membranes to form the porous resin membrane. The porous polytetrafluoroethylene membrane has a mean flow pore diameter of 50 nm or less. It has through pores having a microscopic and uniform diameter, and when used as a filter, it has excellent efficiency in filtering treatment and is less likely to develop clogging. The invention also offers a composite of the membrane, a process of producing the composite, and a separation membrane element incorporating the composite as a filtering membrane. | 11-20-2014 |

20160144322 | NON-DEWETTING POROUS MEMBRANES - Microporous membrane composites that are non-dewetting are disclosed. These microporous membrane composites are wet with solutions of methanol and water and are non-dewetting following autoclave treatment in water. The microporous membrane composites comprise a microporous membrane support that is coated with a crosslinked ionomer comprising hydrophilic groups. Compared to the microporous membrane support, the microporous membrane composite has a flow loss on average in isopropyl alcohol of less than 82%. | 05-26-2016 |
