20090314590 | SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATICALLY ACTUATING THE PARKING BRAKE ON A VEHICLE - A system for automatically actuating the parking brake on a vehicle, such as a truck, includes a parking brake and at least a driver's door lock. The system includes an arrangement for applying said parking brake to an active position as a response to at least said driver's door lock being locked in an active position. The system can include a lock response arrangement which is operable for at least providing a first signal indicating that at least the driver's door lock is locked in an active position; and a hold arrangement for actuating the parking brake to an active position based on the first signal. Thus, it is no longer necessary for a driver to remember to actuate the parking brake, when he or she parks the vehicle, as long as at least the driver's door lock on the vehicle is locked. The manual locking action of the driver's door lock may be further utilized for automatic actuation of the parking brake, i.e. the same manual action may induce two separate functions at the same time. The system increases the effect of the locking the vehicle door by effectively locking the wheels of the vehicle when the parking brake is on, which further reduces the possibility of a vehicle thief removing the vehicle, e.g. by towing it away. As a consequence, the system may be perceived to further provide an improved anti-theft device. | 12-24-2009 |

In the event that a current torque is greater than the engine intake torque in the current gear or if no gear is engaged or called for, in the first forward gear, emitting a signal which indicates to the driver the need to use the holding brake of the vehicle and/or a transmitting a signal to the brake control system of the vehicle to impose a brake pressure in the service brake and/or in the holding brake. | 10-27-2011 |
20120279814 | Method for carrying out an emergency braking procedure in a vehicle - In a method for carrying out an emergency braking procedure in a vehicle, at least one electric actuator in the braking system is automatically actuated to generate an increased brake force in the case of an emergency situation. A maximum voltage, which exceeds the rated voltage of the actuator, is applied to the electric actuator. | 11-08-2012 |
20130001028 | SAFETY BRAKE DEVICE FOR MOVING MACHINE ELEMENTS - A safety brake device for moving machine elements to prevent injury to the extremities of the operator of a machine if the distance of said operator from the moving machine element is less than a defined safety area. The device is characterized by an arrangement for detecting the operator position, in order to permit operation of the machine only if the operator remains within the defined working area, an arrangement for detecting the position of the extremities of the operator within a predefined safety zone, which enables the required work activities to be performed, and a brake device, by means of which the moving machine element can be immediately stopped if the extremities of the operator go beyond the safety area. | 01-03-2013 |
20140138193 | REMOTE CONTROL FOR BRAKING SYSTEM OF PROGRESSIVE CAVITY PUMP - A brake actuator has a motor that provides input rotation in first and second directions. A reducer couples to the motor and reduces the input rotation into an output rotation to be applied to a brake screw of a progressive cavity pump drive. A sensor measures rotational speed of the drive shaft. In manual operation, an operator can view an indication of the rotational speed and can manually operate the motor accordingly to control rotation of the shaft. In automated operation, a controller automatically controls the motor based on the rotational speed measured by the sensor. The controller can also use a torque sensor to detect the torque applied to the brake screw, a displacement sensor to detect displacement of the brake screw, and/or a current sensor to detect the current consumption of the motor. | 05-22-2014 |

20090050419 | Surge brake actuator - A surge brake actuator having a coupler housing telescopically engagable with an actuator housing is provided. The surge brake actuator incorporates an improved reverse lockout assembly that prevents movement of the coupler housing with respect to the actuator housing during reverse movement of a towing vehicle. The reverse lockout assembly is capable of moving to an operating position upon forward movement of the towing vehicle. A breakaway cam effectuates actuation of a braking system of a towed vehicle if the towing vehicle breaks away from the towed vehicle. | 02-26-2009 |
20100320040 | TRAILER BREAKAWAY SWITCH CABLE - The present invention relates generally to trailer and towing safety devices, and more particularly, but not necessarily entirely, to trailer automatic braking devices that initiate braking when a trailer becomes separated from its tow vehicle. | 12-23-2010 |
20130213748 | Trailer Braking System For Use With A Fifth Wheel/Gooseneck Hitch Having A Surge Brake Actuator - Methods and apparatuses for a trailer braking system for use with a fifth wheel hitch, a gooseneck hitch, or the like. A braking system for a trailer pulled by a tow vehicle includes an arm member extending downward from and pivotally connected to an upper portion of the trailer and a surge brake actuator connected to the upper portion of the trailer that is configured to control braking of wheels of the trailer. When the tow vehicle decelerates, inertial force caused by forward momentum of the trailer pivots the arm member such that force is exerted on the surge brake actuator to actuate the brakes of the trailer. | 08-22-2013 |

20110147140 | UNIVERSAL BRAKE ASSEMBLY - A brake actuator assembly for a railway vehicle braking system includes a pair of end members spaced apart from each other along a longitudinal axis of the brake actuator assembly, a hollow flexible elastomeric member, two peripheral flanges extending outwardly from ends of the hollow flexible elastomeric member. Two retaining members, apertures and fasteners are employed for attaching each peripheral flange directly to a respectively positioned end member. The brake actuator assembly is connected to a source of fluid under pressure enabling inflation of the flexible elastomeric member and initiation of a braking sequence of the railway vehicle braking system. The brake actuator assembly of the instant invention allows for improved control of the brake shoe forces including visual travel measurement indication which is especially desirable during light load conditions. Currently used brake assemblies employing cylinder type actuators may be retrofitted with the brake actuator assembly of the instant invention. | 06-23-2011 |

20120305346 | MOTOR WITH BRAKING MECHANSIM FOR ACTUATOR - A motor with a braking mechanism for an actuator includes a main body, a rotating shaft and a braking mechanism. The rotating shaft is disposed through the center of the main body. The braking mechanism includes a friction element and a torsion spring, the friction element is arranged on the external periphery of the rotating shaft, and the torsion spring is elastically clamped at an outer edge of the friction element and an end of the torsion spring is fixed to main body. When the rotating shaft rotates in one direction, the torsion spring abuts the friction element to brake and decelerate the rotating shaft. With small wear and tear of the torsion spring, the service life can be extended. With a large contact area between the friction element and the rotating shaft, a good braking effect can be achieved. | 12-06-2012 |
