20090008087THREADED JOINT FOR AN OIL-WELL TUBING - The engineering problem of the claimed invention consists in the increase of operating reliability of the threaded joint, whose coupling has the coating applied by the diffusion galvanizing method, by way of ensuring a proper standard tightness. The technical result of the increase of the inlet cylindrical counterbore length in the internally threaded element by the value of the thread tightness increment caused by galvanizing and determined from the claimed empirical formula consists in increased reliability of the joint under service conditions as the probability of overtightening the joint for the sake of attaining the nominal tightness, as well as damage to the end thread turns projected from the coupling on service are ruled out. This result is attained without consumption of time and funds for re-training of the personnel, publication and delivery of new normative materials to each drilling site, manufacture of new calibrating tools and repair mountings. In its turn, this makes it possible to immediately begin supplying the suggested joints and increase the service life of standard threaded joints of oil-well tubings from 6÷8 to at least 50 screwing/unscrewing cycles. Besides, in case of forced screwing with a standard torque the joint reliability also increases because the threaded part of the externally threaded element is nearly completely hidden inside the counterbore due to the increased counterbore length and thus protected against the mechanical effect of the well medium.01-08-2009

20150292275TAPERED THREAD CONFIGURATION WITH IMPROVED DURABILITY - Underground drilling operation often requires connecting a drill tool (e.g., drill bit, backreamer, etc.) to a drill string. It is desirable to connect the drill tools to a drill string in a manner that facilitates quick and easy assembly and disassembly. Low torque coupling, commonly referred to as “torque-less” connection, can provide such functionality. The useful life and strength of such connections can be improved upon. The present disclosure provides a low torque coupling with improved strength and durability.10-15-2015

20100132938CONDUCTOR PIPE STRING DEFLECTOR AND METHOD OF USING SAME - An apparatus for deflecting a tubular string preferably comprising at least one side nozzle near the lower end of a first tubular string. The nozzle permits passage of a fluid therethrough from the first tubular string bore and deflects the first tubular string in a substantially horizontal direction. A method for deflecting a first tubular string and securing the first tubular string in the deflected state preferably comprises lowering the first tubular string axially so that the lower end of the first tubular string is near the sea floor. Preferably, a fluid, such as seawater, is propelled down through the bore of the first tubular string and through at least one side nozzle near the lower end of the first tubular, wherein the fluid moving through the side nozzle deflects the first tubular string. The first tubular string end is preferably lowered into the sea floor for maintaining the deflection of the first tubular string. A second tubular string may then be slidably lowered over the first tubular string for deflecting the second tubular string.06-03-2010
