20080283030 | METHOD TO DETERMINE A FUEL COMPOSITION - The invention concerns a method to determine the composition of a fuel from the components ethanol and gasoline of an internal combustion engine, wherein the fuel is supplied to the internal combustion engine by means of a fuel supply unit and via two fuel distributor rails; and the exhaust gas is discharged from the internal combustion engine by means of two exhaust gas manifolds of a first and a second exhaust gas system, which are separated from each other, wherein the first and second exhaust gas system have in each case at least one exhaust gas probe and wherein current changes in the ethanol content of the fuel are evaluated from the signal differences of lambda signals from the exhaust gas probes. With this method, a change in the ethanol content of the fuel can be detected, and an explicit condition for a change in fuel can be derived. Moreover, with the method, errors in the fuel-mixture can be distinguished from an altered fuel composition, which takes place after the tank has been filled (fueling). | 11-20-2008 |
20090133678 | METHOD FOR TAKING THE OUTGASSING OF FUEL FROM THE ENGINE OIL OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE INTO ACCOUNT - The invention deals with a method for operating an internal combustion engine with engine oil as the lubricant, wherein a fuel mass flow outgassing from the engine oil is ascertained and is taken into account via a map-based pilot control during the metering of a quantity of fuel supplied to the internal combustion engine and wherein a fuel/air ratio supplied to the internal combustion engine is determined. Provision is made in the method according to the invention for a mass flow offset determined from the deviation of the fuel/air ratio supplied to the internal combustion engine from a nominal value to be taken into account when the metering of the quantity of fuel supplied to the internal combustion engine occurs during an effective duration of the map-based pilot control. The mass flow offset takes the deviation into account, which remained after the correction by a map-based pilot control of the quantity of fuel metered, on the basis of the modeled outgassing of fuel from the engine oil, and said mass flow offset balances the lambda controller in this way. The mass flow offset can by way of example have the effect of shortening the duration injection. The mixture deviations as a result of different boiling curves of the components of the fuel blend, which cannot be completely taken into account by the map-based pilot control under all operating conditions of the internal combustion engine, can in this way be compensated. | 05-28-2009 |
20140014081 | Diagnosis Method And Device For Operating An Internal Combustion Engine - A method is disclosed for performing an individual cylinder diagnosis with respect to pollutant emissions within a predefined operating range of an internal combustion engine, meeting at least one predefined condition. During the performing of the individual cylinder diagnosis, a forced activation, by means of which a predefined air/fuel ratio to be set is activated, is prescribed in a manner synchronous to the cylinder segment. The excitation is carried out such that each individual cylinder is subjected during subsequent working cycles to a mixture that is either richer or leaner in comparison to the predefined air/fuel ratio to be set due to the forced excitation. Depending on the forcibly activated air/fuel ratio to be set, the corresponding injection valves are actuated. | 01-16-2014 |

20100012105 | CONTROL METHOD OF EXHAUST EMISSION PURIFICATION SYSTEM AND EXHAUST EMISSION PURIFICATION SYSTEM - An exhaust emission purification system including a controller performing exhaust temperature rise control executing multistage delay injection control for raising the exhaust temperature, if the exhaust gas temperature is lower than a predetermined judgment temperature, and performing particulate matter combustion removal control executing post injection control, if the exhaust gas temperature becomes equal to or higher than the predetermined judgment temperature, when forced regeneration of a diesel particulate filter is carried out. Multistage delay injection control is forbidden when an idle operation state of an internal combustion engine is sustained for a predetermined judgment time and a power take-off is in operating state. The diesel particulate filter is thereby kept in a good state in a vehicle equipped for purifying particulate matter in exhaust gas by executing forced regeneration while avoiding variation in engine speed. | 01-21-2010 |

20080210208 | Control Apparatus and Control Method for Internal Combustion Engine - A throttle operation is performed after an internal combustion engine is started. Then, temperature of a catalyst is obtained based on a signal output from a temperature sensor fitted to the catalyst. It is then determined whether the temperature obtained is equal to or higher than the activation temperature. If it is determined that the temperature of the catalyst has not reached the activation temperature, the throttle operation continues. On the other hand, if it is determined that the temperature of the catalyst is equal to or higher than the activation temperature, the non-throttle operation is performed instead of the throttle operation. | 09-04-2008 |
