The operation control circuit is configured to measure a current-flowing time during which a current flows through the constant-voltage path when a voltage higher than the set voltage is applied to the constant-voltage path, and change the operating condition of the internal combustion engine in accordance with the measured current-flowing time.05-28-2015
20150361944METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE - A method for controlling an internal combustion engine. Target ignition times for the individual cylinders are given by an engine control device through trigger signals transmitted to the ignition control device. After receiving a trigger signal, the ignition control device activates the ignition device associated with this trigger signal to effect ignition in the respective cylinder. The ignition control device stores a firing order in which an ignition is to be cyclically effected in the individual cylinders, and it is checked whether trigger signals for all cylinders are received in the stored firing order, and if not, a substitutional ignition time is calculated for the at least one cylinder for which no trigger signal has been received, from at least two trigger signals for the cylinders or one of the remaining cylinders, and the respective ignition device or ignition devices are activated according to the calculated substitutional ignition time.12-17-2015
20160138551METHOD TO DETECT AND CONTROL DETONATION PHENOMENA IN AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE - Method to detect and control detonation phenomena in an internal combustion engine provided with a number of cylinders and with at least two detonation sensors; for each combustion cycle as a function of the cylinder and of the engine point that is being explored, the method comprises processing the signal coming from each detonation sensor so as to determine a detonation energy for each detonation sensor; calculating a detonation index for each detonation sensor and controlling the internal combustion engine as a function of a total detonation index through the algebraic sum of the detonation indexes for each detonation sensor.05-19-2016

20090064969METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE COMPOSITION OF A FUEL BLEND - The invention relates to a method for determining the composition of a fuel blend from a first and at least a second fuel for operating an internal combustion engine. The method makes provision for the ignition angle of the internal combustion engine to be altered and for a non-intermittent fluctuation in the torque, which is a function of the ignition angle, and/or a non-intermittent rotational discontinuity and/or a variable derived from said discontinuity to be used as the parameter for determining the composition of the fuel blend. The degree of efficiency of an internal combustion engine is a function of the ignition angle. It is known that the optimal ignition angle is a function of the composition of the fuel blend. Furthermore, fuel blends which have different compositions have a different knocking limit. The knocking limit thereby denotes the ignition angle, whereat a predetermined quantity of knocking combustion occurs. If the ignition angle is now displaced from the optimal ignition angle in the direction of an advanced or a retarded ignition point, the engine smoothness decreases. For instance, the displacement of the ignition angle in the direction of a retarded ignition point, leads to misfires, which cause a decrease in engine smoothness and consequently a non-intermittent fluctuation in the engine rotational speed and the engine torque.03-12-2009

20140053809VALVETRAIN FAULT INDICATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS USING ENGINE MISFIRE - A system for a vehicle includes a misfire indication module, a valve control module, and a fault indication module. The misfire indication module selectively indicates that misfire occurred within a cylinder of an engine. The valve control module controls lifting of a valve of a cylinder of the engine and, in response to the misfire indication module indicating that misfire occurred within the cylinder, transitions lifting of the valve from one of a low lift state and a high lift state to the other one of the low lift state and the high lift state. The fault indication module selectively indicates that a fault is present in a variable valve lift (VVL) mechanism of the cylinder based on whether the misfire indication module indicates that misfire occurred within the cylinder after the transition to the other one of the low lift state and the high lift state.02-27-2014
