20080250838 | METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PRODUCING METAL RINGS - A method and an arrangement for producing rings from a metallic material are provide, wherein the rings are provided with an axially continuous inner profile at an inner circumference, and with a radial outer profile at an outer circumference. The method can include: providing a tube having a tube section from which rings are to be produced; forming an inner profile of the tube section by swaging, wherein a first profile mandrel is arranged in the tube, an outer profile of the mandrel corresponds to the inner profile of the rings to be formed, and the tube section is processed from outside by a swaging tool; and forming a radial outer profile to by rolling. | 10-16-2008 |
20090025448 | Method and apparatus for manufacture of a profile element - A method and an apparatus for manufacturing of a profile element including a web portion, a first and second flange portion, which extend from the web portion and are disposed essentially opposite each other. The method includes folding a blank of composite material about a first and second flange forming surface of a forming tool. The method includes setting at least one flange forming surface of a forming tool a distance from another flange forming surface greater than a desired distance between inner surfaces of the flange portions of a finished profile element. The folded blank is cured and a gradual decrease of the distance between the flange forming surfaces is simultaneously controlled. The cured profile element is removed from the forming tool. | 01-29-2009 |
20100018276 | SHEET METAL ROCKER ARM WITH INTEGRALLY FORMED CROSS MEMBER - A sheet metal rocker arm of the end pivot rocker arm type formed by bending into a U shape a precursor sheet metal piece and characterized by having a reinforcing cross member which is integrally formed by bending a tab that is cut in the central portion of the connecting part of a U-channel element to yield a reinforcing cross member to provide a unitary structure that introduces substantially enhanced stiffness to the rocker arm. The method of creating integrally formed reinforcing cross-members by appropriately cutting slits that provide reinforcing members can be applied to any stamped rocker arm that has a U-channel architecture, e.g., including, for example, rocker arms for pushrod type valvetrains as well as roller finger follower type rocker arms. Provision of the integrally formed cross member abutting the inner wall of the sides of the U-shaped rocker arm renders stiffness to the rocker arm that enables an engine to operate at a higher rpm and thereby improves horsepower output. | 01-28-2010 |
20110011147 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRIMMING A CAN - A trimming turret including a first trimmer head including a first pilot. The turret is configured to receive a stress induced plastically deformed container having earing about a respective opening in the container, and at least one of (i) direct the container to the first trimmer head so that the pilot becomes located inside the opening, and (ii) direct the first trimmer head to the container so that the pilot becomes located inside the opening. The turret is configured to trim off the earing from the container with the first trimmer head. | 01-20-2011 |
20120247169 | Method for Manufacturing A Quick Release Axle Assembly that has Greater Strength and Lighter Weight - A method for manufacturing a quick release axle assembly includes preparing an elongate bar, pressing the elongate bar to form two mounting portions, at least one elongate groove and a projection, cutting the elongate bar to remove the projection from the periphery of the at least one elongate groove, and dieing the elongate bar to form a first external thread on one of the mounting portions of the elongate bar and a second external thread on the other one of the mounting portions of the elongate bar so as to produce an axle which includes the mounting portions, the at least one elongate groove, the first external thread and the second external thread. Thus, the axle is stamped and formed directly by the stamping die so that the axle is produced easily and quickly. | 10-04-2012 |
20140238099 | Process for Making Forged and Machined Components - The present invention discloses a process of manufacturing forged components using a combination of open die and closed die forging, and machining. The process involves the steps of togging of the ingot, upsetting the cogged bloom in two steps to form a preform, closed forging the preform on a hammer, rough machining, heat treatment, semi-finishing, and finally finishing the component. The present invention is applicable to any forged components that are used in variety of industries, particularly those which are formed from large ingots. The invention is particularly useful for safety- and application-critical components such as a fluid end which is used in oil and gas industry. With the process of the present invention, 55 to 60% of the shape and size of the final component is achieved through forging and remaining 40 to 45% through machining. Incorporating the closed die forging stage in between open die forging and machining stages of the results in about 27% material reduction and over 60% reduction in machining time. | 08-28-2014 |
20150290701 | MACHINE TOOL AND METHOD FOR MACHINING A WORKPIECE - A machine tool and method for machining a workpiece into a finished part in which the workpiece is damped into a machine tool and is machined in a material-removing fashion with a tool that has a geometrically defined cutting edge and is fastened to a multiaxially mobile tool holder of the machine tool. In order to ensure the maximum dimensional and size accuracy in the finished part, it is proposed that the workpiece, after its material-removing machining and in the same clamping set-up used for the latter, is incrementally cold forged in at least some regions with the aid of a forging tool to produce the finished part. | 10-15-2015 |
