|LOCKING LATCH HANDLE - The invention provides a lockable closure device for a closure that is adapted to selectively cover at least a portion of an opening. The lockable closure device comprises a first handle adapted for provision on one side of the closure, a second handle for provision on the opposite side of the closure, and a connection means by which the handles are pivotally connected relative to the closure such that the first handle may be disposed in a first position in which the second handle cannot be moved, and in a second position in which the second handle can be moved. There is also provided a closure having one or more of said lockable closure devices coupled thereto.
|WINDOW OPENING PROTECTOR - The embodiment of this invention relates generally to a method and apparatus for covering a window opening in the absence of a window, more particularly to a lightweight, cost effective and temporary protective cover for a window opening in the absence of the window pane for protecting the interior of a building from external elements.
|Door Module Plate With Handle - A motor vehicle door module assembly in a motor vehicle door structure, the assembly including a module plate, a bracket, and a door handle pivotally mounted on the bracket. Coacting mounting structures are provided on the module plate and on the bracket which are operative in response to linear sliding movement of the bracket relative to the module plate to mount the bracket on the module plate while permitting a limited degree of linear play to facilitate the installation of the module assembly on the door structure. The coacting mounting structures take the form of a plurality of tabs on the module plate and a respective plurality of keyways in the bracket.
|Protective Cover for Use on a Door From Manufacture Through Installation and Thereafter - Embodiments of door protectors are described. One typical embodiment comprises front and rear corrugated cardboard panels that are draped over a door by way of one or more pieces of saddle tape that join the panels along their respective top edges. A plurality of folds, perforations and cutouts are provided on the faces of the panels to permit access to the door's hardware. Accordingly, the door can be operated in a traditional manner while providing impact and damage protection to the door. The panels include a plurality of widthwise folds that permit the door protector to be folded for transport and storage. In variations, the edge straps are provided often comprised of hook and loop material to both secure the protector in a folded configuration and to an associated door.
|Oversized, stress-transferring spacer for window assembly, and window assembly incorporating the same - Certain example embodiments relate to window assemblies that include hardware components that reduce stress loads applied to the transparent substrates in such window assemblies. In certain example embodiments, a spacer (e.g., which may be formed from a metal such as, for example, stainless steel or aluminum) that is longer than the window thickness is provided so that loads applied to the other hardware components are transferred along the spacer and so that a reduced load is applied to the substrate itself. Such assemblies are useful in a wide variety of applications including, for example, the transportation industry.
|WINDOW SHIELD AND SHIELD MOUNTING BRACKET AND METHOD FOR USE - The purpose of the current invention is to provide a system and method that provides an effective and visually appealing way to board windows and doors.
|Disposable-germ-free guard for a door or door handle - A guard to prevent direct touch contact between an individual's hand and a handle or a contact surface of a door to which a pushing or pulling force is applied to cause the door to open. According to a first preferred embodiment, a hollow cylindrical core is moved into removable surrounding engagement with a door handle. A plurality of protective strips are laid one above the other in a roll that surrounds the core. According to another preferred embodiment, a plurality of protective strips or coverings are disposed one above the other in a stack that is attached over a pushing surface of the door. Successive ones of the plurality of strips and coverings can be removed from the roll or stack and discarded following use. One surface of each of the strips and coverings is treated with a layer which includes a mixture of adhesive and microbicide. The layer of adhesive and microbicide enables the plurality of strips and coverings to be adhesively bonded to one another while discouraging the growth and spread of potentially disease-causing bacteria.

|PACKAGED GATE SYSTEMS AND METHOD OF DISPLAY - A packaged gate system includes a gate and a box having an interior space in which the gate is positioned. The box has front and rear major surfaces, a bottom surface, a top surface and a side surface that defines an edge of the box. An opening is defined in an uppermost portion of the side surface, a portion of the top surface and a portion of at least one of the front and rear major surfaces. A transparent insert is positioned in the opening and is secured to at least one of the box and a portion of the gate, The portion of the gate, which may include a connector assembly, will be visible to a consumer when the packaged gate system is stacked edgewise together with like packaged gate systems on the bottom surface with the side surface facing the consumer. The insert may also be configured to define a gripping handle that a consumer may use to pull the packaged gate system outwardly in order to extract it from the stack.
|DOOR SAFETY SHIELD - A door safety shield includes a shield portion for bridging a gap between a door and a door jamb, a first attachment panel operatively coupled to a first lateral edge of the shield portion, a second attachment panel operatively coupled to a second lateral edge of the shield portion, and at least one separation region extending in a lateral direction across the shield portion, the first attachment panel, and the second attachment panel. The separation region defines a removable portion of the shield which allows a user to easily adjust the length of the shield in the longitudinal direction.
|LATCH JAMB SECURITY PLATE FOR DOORJAMB - A latch jamb security plate in combination with a doorjamb having a front side facing a door opening and a back side opposite the front side. The doorjamb is formed with a latch aperture therethrough for receiving a retractable door latch. The latch jamb security plate comprises a planar plate member fastened to the back side of the doorjamb, and a single latch tongue formed integrally with the planar plate member and extending therefrom into the latch aperture in the doorjamb. The planar plate member has an opening therethrough aligned with the latch aperture in the doorjamb. The opening in the planar plate member has a continuous edge. The latch tongue is configured to extend from only a portion of the edge of the opening in the planar plate member.
|Armored vehicle door hardware providing access, egress, rescue and security - A latch, latching system and other components are disclosed that are particularly well suited for use with the heavy doors of armored military vehicles. Some component embodiments are usable in normal and emergency modes to provide access, entry, egress and rescue through vehicle door openings. Included among the disclosed components are latches having separate operating components that can be used to retract spring projected latch bolts and that usable advantageously in pairs and readily reconfigurable for use on left, right, front and rear doors of a vehicle at locations where door thicknesses differ. Also disclosed are operating linkages intended to extend exteriorly of door armor to turn shafts to operate latches situated interiorly of the door armor.
|INTUITIVE CONTROL SYSTEM FOR POWER ASSISTED VEHICLE DOORS - A heavy vehicle door or ramp is opened and closed using an intuitive control system. The door includes a latch assembly, a lock assembly, and a power unit to assist in opening and closing the door. The door includes an interior joy stick handle and an exterior lever handle. From outside the vehicle, the door is opened and closed by pivoting the lever handle downwardly and upwardly, respectively. From the interior of the vehicle, the joy stick handle is pulled inwardly to close the door and pushed outwardly to open the door. Pivoting the joystick handle forwardly engages the blast locks, while pivoting the joystick handle rearwardly unlatches the latch assembly and disengages the blast locks. The power assist unit is actuated by pivotal movement of the outside door handle and lateral pivotal movement of the interior joystick handle.
|METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DISENGAGING A DRIVE ROD IN A DOOR AFTER AN IMPACT TO THE DOOR - A method and system for disengaging a drive rod in a door after an impact to the door. An automobile having a door with a door handle, a drive rod, a latching system, a striker, and a drive rod striking member. The drive rod striking member can be positioned adjacent the drive rod. Upon impact to the door, the drive rod is disengaged from the door handle and/or the latching system through inertia, through the drive rod striking member impacting the drive rod, or through any other means of disengagement. The drive rod striking member prevents the drive rod from re-engaging with the latching system. The disengagement of the drive rod prevents the drive rod from controlling the latching system to disengage from the striker, either through deformation of the door, or through actuations by the door handle.
|System and Method of Protecting Flooring near a Doorway - A system and method for protecting flooring near a doorway by securing to the bottom portion of the door a protective device where the protective device extends outward from the door and over the flooring where a pet may damage the flooring. The protective device is made of a scratch resistant material and the protective device is adapted to allow the door to open and remain securely attached to the door when open or closed.
|COLLAPSIBLE DOOR TRIM PULL HANDLE - A collapsible vehicle door pull handle comprising two separate pieces joined together by a break away feature. This arrangement allows the pull handle to be strong when the occupant pulls the vehicle door closed, but allows deflection because of the break away feature during a side impact event. The collapsible vehicle door pull handle comprises a handle, a base, an attachment member fitted to one of the handle and the base, and an elastic deformable portion having a keyway for receiving and holding the attachment member with the attachment portion being on the other of the base and the handle. According to this arrangement the handle and the base may be moved toward one another on deformation of the deformable portion during a side impact event. The attachment member includes a post having a pair of opposed flat surfaces and a pair of opposed curved surfaces. The keyway includes a channel which terminates into a post retaining area that is wider than said channel. The channel is defined by a pair of opposed walls. The post retaining area is defined by a curved wall.
|DOOR STRUCTURE WITH EASY ASSEMBLY - A door structure includes a handle whereon an engaging part, a sunken part, and a baffle part disposed nearby the sunken part are formed. The door structure further includes a cover connected to the handle. The cover includes a main body, a hook disposed on a side of the main body, a rib disposed on the side of the main body for installing inside the sunken part, and a protruding part disposed on the side of the main body for blocking the baffle part so as to fix the handle on the cover with the hook and the rib.
|GLASS HANDLE CONNECTOR FOR GLASS DOOR HANDLE - A door handle and door-handle connector assembly comprises a door handle having a glass body and at least one door-handle connector. The door-handle connector comprises a glass interface having an elongated body made of glass. The body has a first end adhered to the glass body of the door handle, and a second end having a head portion. The door-handle connector also comprises a door interface having an inner cavity receiving the head portion of the glass interface, and an opening for the elongated body of the glass interface to project out of the door interface to be connected to the door handle. The door interface is adapted to be secured to a door whereby the glass interface is held captive to the door interface by the head portion held by the door interface. A door system and a door-handle connector are also provided.
|DOOR LOCK RETAINER - A door lock retainer may include a door-latch-mechanism frame, a retainer, and a door-lock cylinder. The door-latch-mechanism frame may support a linkage and include a landing surface. The retainer may include an aperture and a first surface engaging the landing surface and restricting deflection of the linkage. The door-lock cylinder may be received in the aperture and supported by the retainer.
|CLOSURE ASSEMBLY WITH MOVEABLE COVER AND CLOSEOUT FOR A RETRACTABLE HANDLE - A closure assembly includes a panel that defines an opening. A handle includes a grab bar that is moveable from a retracted position through the opening into an extended position. A cover is coupled to and moveable with the handle. The cover is disposed within the opening and flush with the exterior surface of the panel when in a closed position. When the handle moves from the retracted position into the extended position, the cover moves out of the closed position to allow the handle to pass through the opening. When the handle moves from the extended position into the retracted position, the cover moves into the closed position to close the opening. A closeout is coupled to and moveable with the handle. The closeout moves into an exposed position as the handle moves into the extended position to conceal the remainder of the opening not occupied by the handle.
|IMPACT PLATE DOOR PROTECTOR - An impact plate that is able to lie flat when not attached to a door and bowed when attached that provides greater protection and easier installation than known approaches.
|INSULATION FOR ATTIC ACCESS - An insulation device lays on top of an attic access, insulating the access, and prevents heat loss, heat radiation and cold or hot air from flowing into the home. Because the insulation device of the present invention lays on top of the attic access, and insulates all sides of the access at a consistent R-value, the insulation device is a more complete insulation system as compared to conventional systems that merely create a dead air space at the attic access. The insulation device may be hingedly attached at one end of the attic access to allow a user to easily open and close the insulation device accurately over the opening.
|Multi-Purpose Hatch System - A multi-purpose hatch system having a removable antenna mounting plug, block or plate for installing multiple configurations of antennas or sensors is disclosed. The system features a hatch having an opening sized to receive the antenna mounting plug, block or plate. The hatch features handles which aid in installation and removal of the hatch. Multiple configurations of antennas or sensors attached to the plate can easily be removed and quickly installed to configure an aircraft for a specific mission. The system also features a billet machined hatch body, field replaceable seals and easily adaptable antenna or sensor mounting configurations which provide unprecedented ruggedness, antenna options, and field supportability.
|DOOR ASSEMBLY WITH DAMPING MATERIAL - A door assembly is provided with a handle that is movable between a first handle position where the door assembly is unlatched and a second handle position where the door assembly is latched. The handle may also be movable to a third handle position where the door assembly is locked. A hollow conduit is operatively connected to the handle at a first end. A wire is disposed within the conduit and operatively connected to the handle such that the wire translates within the conduit when the handle is moved. A damping material is positioned between an outer surface of the wire and an inner surface of the conduit. The damping material is configured to dampen the motion of the handle. In one example, the damping material is silicone grease.
|Vehicle Door Protector - A vehicle door protector that includes a lightweight single unit construction shell member configured to overlie and superimpose the entire exterior of an existing sole vehicle door, said shell member having a durable exterior surface and a pliable interior surface, wherein the shell member is releasably securable to the vehicle door by means of a plurality of securing straps, whereby the finish and paintwork of the vehicle door to which the device is attached is protected from dings, dents, scratches and other blemishes rendered thereto by the opening of doors of adjacently parked vehicles.
|HANDLE BASE ATTACHMENT STRUCTURE - The door handle device of a vehicle is provided with: a handle base disposed along the rear surface of a door panel; and an operation handle that is coupled to the handle base. The handle base has hook-shaped pressing portions that ride on a protruding portion provided to the oppossed side edges along the sliding direction of a mounting opening provided to the door panel accompanying a sliding operation along the door panel; a panel-abutting portion that sandwiches the door panel in cooperation with the hook-shaped pressing portions; and an elastic locking piece that restricts the rearwards motion of the handle base by resilient locking to the center of a rear end edge of the mounting opening, and restricts removal of the hook-shaped pressing portions from the protruding portion.
|NORMALLY DEPLOYING FLUSH DOOR HANDLE - A handle assembly for a door of a vehicle includes a housing, and a grab bar moveably supported by the housing. The grab bar is linearly moveable along a linear path between a retracted position and an extended position. The linear path is disposed on a plane. A motor is attached to the housing, and includes an output rotatable about a rotation axis. The rotation axis is perpendicular to the plane. A scotch yoke mechanism interconnects the output of the motor and the grab bar. The scotch yoke mechanism translates rotational movement of the output into the linear movement of the grab bar to move the grab bar between the extended position and the retracted position.
|COLLAPSIBLE DOOR TRIM PULL HANDLE - A collapsible vehicle door pull handle comprises two separate pieces joined together by a break away feature. This arrangement allows the pull handle to be strong when the occupant pulls the vehicle door closed, but allows deflection because of the break away feature during a side impact event. The collapsible vehicle door pull handle comprises a handle, a base, an attachment member fitted to one of the handle and the base, and an elastic deformable portion having a keyway for receiving and holding the attachment member with the attachment portion being on the other of the base and the handle. A molded handle might enclose part or all of the handle.
|Duct Access Door - An access panel for an opening in a duct is provided. The access panel includes an exterior and an interior. The access panel further includes a section positioned on the interior and having a profile substantially corresponding to the opening in the duct. A plurality of fasteners is positioned about the section. Each fastener has a clip configured to move to a position defined to extend away from the profile of the section on the interior. When the access panel is positioned with the section on the interior against the opening in the duct and the fasteners are moved to the locking position the clips rotate to extend over the profile and secure a portion of the duct adjacent to the opening against the interior of the access panel.
|DOOR FOR REFRIGERATOR AND MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR THE SAME - There is disclosed a refrigerator door including a front panel for defining a front exterior appearance thereof, a door liner for defining a rear exterior appearance thereof, a frame for defining both lateral exterior appearance thereof, the frame formed of steel, a support portion provided in an inner portion of the frame to support the front panel, the support portion formed of steel, an upper cap decorative portion for sealing upper portions of the front panel and the door liner, a lower cap decorative portion for sealing lower portions of the front panel and the door liner, and a coupling member provided in an inner portion of the frame to couple the upper cap decorative portion and the lower cap decorative portion to each other, the coupling member formed of steel, wherein the support portion is welded to the frame and the coupling member is welded to the frame.
|Door Protector - An overhead coiling closure is presented. A repositionable impact bar assembly engages a guide bracket mounted adjacent to the coiling closure when the closure is in a closed position. When in an open position, the impact bar assembly is released from the guide bracket and attaches to the coiling closure to provide repositionable impact protection. As the coiling closure closes the impact bar assembly is once again engaged by the guide bracket.
|ENGINE COWL AND INLET COVER - A method and apparatus for covering an end of a housing for an engine. In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a structure, a flange, and a retaining feature. The structure is configured to cover an opening of a housing for an engine. The flange is comprised of a deformable material and is configured to extend from the structure around a circumference of the structure. The retaining feature is configured to extend from a middle portion of the structure such that the retaining feature and the flange form a channel configured to receive an end of the housing. The retaining feature is configured to extend into an inlet of the engine through the opening of the housing to form an interference fit with a portion of an interior surface of the housing.
|REMOVABLE, CHANGEABLE AND REPLACEABLE DOUBLE OPENING WINDOW - An easily removable, changeable and replaceable window for application on train carriages, passenger buses and other transport vehicles that consists of an assembly formed by a removable window frame and the corresponding rim thereof fixed on the chassis of the vehicle, said assembly being provided with a closing and opening device that may be actuated both from the inside and the outside, and therefore, enabling a glazed window to be released for safety reasons or to be released and changed for maintenance reasons, without losing time or functionality.
|AIRCRAFT CARGO DOOR SHIELD - An aircraft cargo door shield releasably attachable to an aircraft cargo door and configured for protecting an aircraft cargo door during loading and unloading of cargo. The aircraft cargo door shield includes a panel configured for covering a portion of an external skin of the cargo door, and one or more fastening or attachment mechanisms configured for releasably holding the panel adjacent to the cargo door during use. The aircraft cargo door shield may include upper attachment mechanisms having elongated hooks that may engage an upper edge of the aircraft cargo door. Some or all of the attachment mechanisms may be coupled to tension members to retain the engagement of the attachment mechanisms to the aircraft cargo door during use.
|Engine Cowl and Inlet Cover - A method for covering an end of a housing for an engine. A cover is positioned relative to the end of the housing for the engine. The cover comprises a structure, a flange comprised of a deformable material extending from the structure around a circumference of the structure, and a retaining feature configured to extend from a middle portion of the structure such that the retaining feature and the flange form a channel configured to receive the end of the housing. The cover is moved in a direction towards the end of the housing for the engine such that the retaining feature extends into an inlet of the engine through an opening of the housing to form an interference fit between the retaining feature and a portion of an interior surface of the housing.
|Sectional Door Protector - A sectional overhead door protector is described. In a preferred embodiment an impact bar assembly is fixedly mounted to a door panel to protect the sectional overhead door from inadvertent impact. When the impact bar assembly is struck a force vector is generated inward towards a wall and biased to an outside of the door panel preventing stress on the door.
|HANDLE MECHANISM - Handle mechanism provided for mounting in an opening extending wholly through a door, the handle mechanism comprising a first plate for closing the opening at the position of a first side of the door, a second plate for closing the opening at the position of a second side of the door and an intermediate plate placed between the first and second plates, wherein the first and the second plate are each connected via spring means to the intermediate plate so that each of the first and the second plate are movable substantially against the intermediate plate by an external force, wherein the intermediate plate is provided for movable placing in the door so as to increase an overall space for movement of each of the first and the second plate.
|DISTORTION FREE DOOR HANDLE - An automotive door panel is disclosed. The automotive door panel comprises an outer panel, a bezel, a handle and in inner reinforcement. The outer panel has a depression formed on an outside surface surrounding a handle opening. The bezel seats within the depression of the door panel. The handle is mounted to the bezel and includes an attachment member in a YZ axis. The inner reinforcement member has a mounting flange oriented in the YZ axis. A fastener extends through the mounting flange in an X-direction and connects to the attachment member.
|DOOR WITH EMBEDDED PROTECTING DEVICE - The invention belongs to the technical field of closing devices, and particularly relates to a door with an embedded protecting device. The invention aims at providing a door enabling the service life of the door and the protecting device to be prolonged. To solve the above problem, according to the technical scheme, the door with the embedded protecting device comprises a door sheet and a door frame, wherein the door sheet is connected with the door frame through hinges. The door further comprises an elastic sheet and/or an elastic column, and one end of the elastic sheet and/or the elastic column is fixedly connected with the inner side of a vertical frame. A first clamped board and a second clamped board are also arranged inside the door sheet, and the first clamped board and the second clamped board are fixedly connected with the inner side of the door frame to form a hollow area which matches with the elastic sheet and/or the elastic column. The hollow area further includes an opening and a bottom which are positioned on different sides inside the door sheet, and the elastic sheet and/or the elastic column extend/extends into the hollow area from the opening.

|DOOR GAP GUARD - Disclosed is a door gap guard made of a reilient material is disclosed having an elongated center portion, a longitudinal strip of mounting portion connected to one side of the elongated center portion and affixed to the doorframe, and a narrow elongated motion portion connected to an opposite side of the elongated center portion with the free end disposed in contact with the door panel to cover the gap between the doorframe and a door panel and to avoid finger crush accidents.
|Door edge guard for use with interior sealant - A door edge guard for protecting the trailing edge of a door having a seam covered by sealant on the interior of the door includes a metal body having an internal portion facing the trailing edge and an exterior portion, a curved base adapted to fit over the trailing edge, an exterior leg extending from the base to fit against the exterior of the door, an interior leg to fit against that part of the interior of the door extending from the base to near the sealant, and an insulating cover coextruded or laminated onto the metal body to prevent contact between the metal body and metal in the door. The end of the leg of the metal body on the exterior of the door is folded to form a bead, but the interior leg is straight. The interior leg is also shorter than the exterior leg, the length of the interior leg typically being the length of the exterior leg to the folded end of the bead. In one arrangement, the exterior leg is folded inwardly to form the bead, and in another arrangement, the exterior leg is folded outwardly to form the bead, and the exterior leg bends inwardly to add tension between the legs. Different combinations of insulating material and stainless are disclosed. In yet another arrangement, a step insulated edge is formed on the exterior end of the interior leg.

|METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REINFORCING DOOR JAMBS - A door jamb reinforcing device includes a first face member configured to engage with a face of a stop rail of the door jamb and a second face member interconnected with the first face member and configured to engage with a face of a latch-engagement portion of the door jamb. A first side member may be attached orthogonally to the first face member. A second side member may be attached orthogonally to the second face member. The first and second side members may be spaced apart from one another by a distance that corresponds to a width of the jamb.
|Automobile Door Edge Guard - An automobile door edge guard includes an elongated, unitary body member constructed entirely of a transparent and resilient material having a seat into which is received an edge portion of an automobile door edge for protecting the door edge and any surface against which the door edge may strike. A bulbous-shaped cushion portion projects outwardly from the body member and extends longitudinally and continuously therealong between opposed ends thereof. The body member has a thickness is less than the width of a gap between the edge of the automobile door and corresponding door jamb. A transparent adhesive secures the body to the automobile door.
|SHOWER DOOR BUMPER - A shower door assembly includes a frame having an upper frame member that is elongated with a generally constant cross-section. The cross-section of the frame member may define a channel. The shower door assembly also includes a door that slides in a direction parallel with the channel, as well as a bumper. |UNIT FOR PREVENTING BODY PART OF USER FROM BEING CAUGHT IN DOOR - The present invention relates to a unit for preventing a body part of a user from being caught. The prevention unit according to the present invention is to be coupled to a door and to a door frame, a floor hinge being connected to the lower surface of the door and the upper surface of the door being hinged onto a horizontal frame of the door frame such that the door can rotate about a hinge shaft, the door frame having the horizontal frame and a pair of vertical frames fixed to a wall. The prevention unit comprises: a unit for preventing a body part of a user from being caught in a door frame, the unit for preventing a body part of a user from being caught in a door frame having a door frame contact surface coupled to the vertical frame of the door frame and having a first concave curved surface having a first radius of curvature, the unit for preventing a body part of a user from being caught in a door frame having a cylindrical shape having a triangular cross-section or a quadrangular cross-section having at least one concave side, the unit for preventing a body part of a user from being caught in a door frame being coupled to the door frame such that the first concave curved surface faces the side surface of the door when the door rotates; and a unit for preventing a body part of a user from being caught in a door, the unit for preventing a body part of a user from being caught in a door having a door contact surface coupled to the edge of the front or rear surface of the door and having a first convex curved surface having a second radius of curvature smaller than the first radius of curvature, the unit for preventing a body part of a user from being caught in a door having a cylindrical shape having a triangular cross-section or a quadrangular cross-section having at least one convex side, the unit for preventing a body part of a user from being caught in a door being coupled to the door such that the vertical frame faces the first convex curved surface when the door rotates. According to the present invention, a body part of a user can be prevented from being caught in a door frame or a door, thus preventing or minimizing accidents and preventing or minimizing the waste of energy leaking through the space between the door and the door frame. Further, the prevention unit of the present invention is advantageous in that it can be coupled to all types of doors having various rotational axes or rotation radii in response to variations in the rotational axis of the door or to variations in the rotation radius of the door.
