20080263773 | Method and apparatus for use by a patient in temporarily lifting that person with respect to a horizontal surface--such as a bed - A support for a trapeze or other structure (such as a sling) that depends from a rail, said rail extending over a bed (usually a hospital bed) or other patient-support device. A carriage (which might also be called a trolley) is provided for selective movement—in small increments—along a conventional rail (having an octagonal or circular cross section) from one end to the other. Alternatively, the carriage is held static, where it provides a stable “anchor” for a trapeze, so that a person might safely pull downward on the trapeze. In one embodiment the static condition is initiated by the action of simply pulling downward on the trapeze, causing the carriage to bear against the rail with what may best be described as a “gripping” action. Switching between free movement along the rail and braked movement can be automatic, involving only a downwardly directed force on the carriage, which force may be supplied by an attending nurse or the patient. | 10-30-2008 |
20090013474 | OFFSET PATIENT TRAPEZE SYSTEM - A hospital bed trapeze system includes an offset vertical frame to provide safe and convenient patient positioning in a smaller footprint. The offset patient trapeze system includes vertical support members that extend vertically from the head end of the bed, where the vertical support members angle inward toward the foot end of the bed. Similarly, additional vertical support members extend vertically from the foot end of the bed and angle inward toward the head end of the bed. The vertical support members support a horizontal grid. The horizontal grid includes side bars and cross bars that connect the vertical support members to form a trapezoidal assembly. An ergonomic grab bar is supported from the horizontal grid. The grab bar includes a handle portion with which the patient or caregiver may access the offset trapeze system to facilitate patient positioning in the bed. | 01-15-2009 |
20090235463 | Climbing bar - A climbing bar is disclosed which may be affixed to a medical examination table to assist patients in getting on or off of the table or rotating to sit upon the table. The climbing bar of the instant invention may be adjusted such that the handle of the climbing bar is either secured in a horizontal position when not in use or in a vertical position when in use. | 09-24-2009 |
20100064442 | PATIENT LOAD SUPPORT FOR USE WITH ELONGATE BEDS - A patient load support for use with elongate beds comprises a frame, and a grip supported relative to the frame. The grip is supported for longitudinal movement, and independent lateral movement. | 03-18-2010 |
20100325805 | Foot Brace For Bed - A foot brace for use with a bed includes a rear wall configured to extend adjacent a footboard of the bed and a front wall configured to extend from generally adjacent one side of the bed to generally adjacent an opposed side of the bed. The foot brace includes at least two telescopic rods each extending from the front wall to the rear wall. The telescopic rods are each lockable at a first extension configuration that separates the front wall from the rear wall and a second extension configuration that separates the front wall from the rear wall such that the front and rear walls are separated by one distance when the telescopic rods are at the first extension configuration and another distance when the telescopic rods are at the second extension configuration. An adjustable fastener removably couples one of the rear wall and the front wall to the bed. | 12-30-2010 |
20110010864 | HOSPITAL BED EQUIPPED WITH A PATIENT MOBILITY AID DEVICE - A hospital bed is equipped with a patient mobility aid device having at least one adjustable lateral grip that aids the patient in performing certain movements such as entering or exiting the bed. The patient mobility aid device includes a support crossmember having a length oriented along a width of the bed. Couplers at the ends of the crossmember attach to frame elements of the bed. The crossmember houses at least one arm to which the adjustable lateral grip is coupled. The at least one arm extends and retracts with respect to the crossmember. | 01-20-2011 |
20110185507 | ASSIST HANDLE ASSEMBLIES AND BEDS WITH AN ASSIST HANDLE ASSEMBLY - Assist handle assemblies and beds with an assist handle assembly are presented herein. In one embodiment, an assist handle assembly includes a mounting frame for attaching to a support platform. A first support arm is pivotably attached to the mounting frame to rotate about a first axis. A second support arm is pivotably attached to the mounting frame to rotate about a second axis, which is different from the first axis. The first and second support arms remain substantially parallel while rotating about respective axes between various positions. In another embodiment, a bed assembly includes a bed frame with a mounting frame attached thereto. First and second support arms are pivotably attached to the mounting frame at first and second locations, respectively, to rotate between raised and lowered positions. A handle with an arcuate body is pivotably attached to the first and second support arms, maintaining a constant concave-down orientation. | 08-04-2011 |
20110283456 | INGRESS/EGRESS ASSIST HANDLE - A person-support apparatus comprises a frame, an endboard, and a handle assembly. The endboard is coupled to the frame. The endboard includes a grip. The handle assembly is configured to be removably coupled to the endboard. The handle assembly includes a handle configured to rotate with respect to the endboard between a first position and a second position. The handle is configured to assist a person during at least one of ingress and egress from the person-support apparatus in the first position. | 11-24-2011 |
20120102655 | EGRESS ASSIST FOOTBOARD - An endboard for a person-support apparatus comprises an endboard assembly including a first endboard body rotatably coupled to a frame and a second endboard body rotatably coupled to the first endboard body by a locking mechanism. The second endboard body is configured to be movable between a storage position and a deployed position with respect to the first endboard body. The locking mechanism is configured to selectively maintain the second endboard body in at least one of the storage position and the deployed position with respect to the first endboard body. The second endboard body is configured to assist a person during at least one of ingress and egress to/from the frame when the second endboard body is in the deployed position. | 05-03-2012 |
20120137442 | CEILING MOUNTED OVER-BED TRAPEZE APPARATUS - Methods, systems, and apparatuses are disclosed for a ceiling mount over-bed trapeze apparatus. | 06-07-2012 |
20120198631 | PATIENT HELPER WITH EGRESS HANDLE - A patient helper apparatus for use with a patient support is disclosed. The patient helper apparatus includes a first L-shaped support tube coupled to the patient support, a shaft coupled to the first L-shaped support tube and extending over the patient support, and an egress handle coupled to the first L-shaped support tube. The egress handle moves between a stowed position and an assist position. In the stowed position, the egress handle is situated inside a footprint of the patient support. In the assist position, the egress handle extends outside the footprint of the patient support. | 08-09-2012 |
