20140212766 | BLOCK COPOLYMER BATTERY SEPARATOR - The invention herein described is the use of a block copolymer/homopolymer blend for creating nanoporous materials for transport applications. Specifically, this is demonstrated by using the block copolymer poly(styrene-block-ethylene-block-styrene) (SES) and blending it with homopolymer polystyrene (PS). After blending the polymers, a film is cast, and the film is submerged in tetrahydrofuran, which removes the PS. This creates a nanoporous polymer film, whereby the holes are lined with PS. Control of morphology of the system is achieved by manipulating the amount of PS added and the relative size of the PS added. The porous nature of these films was demonstrated by measuring the ionic conductivity in a traditional battery electrolyte, 1M LiPF | 07-31-2014 |

20140032165 | APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC IDENTIFICATION OF SENSOR PLACEMENT - A location of a sensor is determined by: (1) receiving time series data including components in a plurality of dimensions, wherein the time series data correspond to measurements of the sensor that is applied to a subject; (2) determining a plurality of subsequences associated with the time series data, wherein each of the plurality of subsequences represents a characteristic pattern projected along one of the plurality of dimensions; (3) identifying a correlated subset of the plurality of subsequences as at least one instance of an activity of the subject; and (4) based on features of the correlated subset, determining the location of the sensor as applied to the subject. | 01-30-2014 |
20120290058 | METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR THE TREATMENT OF ANXIETY DISORDERS AND DISORDERS WITH PSYCHOTIC FEATURES - Methods and systems for treating anxiety disorders and disorders with psychotic features include implanting at least one electrode in the patient so as to contact a predetermined region of the brain, coupling the at least one electrode to a signal generating source and transmitting an electrical signal from the source to the predetermined region of the brain through the at least one electrode. In one aspect, the predetermined region of the brain is the amygdala, and more specifically, the basolateral nucleus. | 11-15-2012 |
20120107175 | MODULAR RADIOCHEMISTRY SYNTHESIS SYSTEM - A modular chemical production system includes multiple modules for performing a chemical reaction, particularly of radiochemical compounds, from a remote location. One embodiment comprises a reaction vessel including a moveable heat source with the position thereof relative to the reaction vessel being controllable from a remote position. Alternatively the heat source may be fixed in location and the reaction vial is moveable into and out of the heat source. The reaction vessel has one or more sealing plugs, the positioning of which in relationship to the reaction vessel is controllable from a remote position. Also the one or more reaction vessel sealing plugs can include one or more conduits there through for delivery of reactants, gases at atmospheric or an elevated pressure, inert gases, drawing a vacuum and removal of reaction end products to and from the reaction vial, the reaction vial with sealing plug in position being operable at elevated pressures. The modular chemical production system is assembled from modules which can each include operating condition sensors and controllers configured for monitoring and controlling the individual modules and the assembled system from a remote position. Other modules include, but are not limited to a Reagent Storage and Delivery Module, a Cartridge Purification Module, a Microwave Reaction Module, an External QC/Analysis/Purification Interface Module, an Aliquotting Module, an F-18 Drying Module, a Concentration Module, a Radiation Counting Module, and a Capillary Reactor Module. | 05-03-2012 |
20110284725 | MICROLENS ARRAYS FOR ENHANCED LIGHT CONCENTRATION - A novel micron-scale lens, a microlens, is engineered to concentrate light efficiently onto an area of interest, such as a small, light-sensitive detector element in an integrated electronic device. Existing microlens designs imitate the form of large-scale lenses and are less effective at small sizes. The microlenses described herein have been designed to accommodate diffraction effects, which dominate the behavior of light at small length scales. Thus a new class of light-concentrating optical elements with much higher relative performance has been created. Furthermore, the new designs are much easier to fabricate than previous designs. | 11-24-2011 |
