20090325472 | CHEMICAL MECHANICAL PLANARIZATION PAD CONDITIONER AND METHOD OF FORMING - A CMP pad conditioner including a substrate having a transparency window represented by an average internal transmittance of not less than about 90% over a wavelength range extending from about 400 nm to about 500 nm along a path length extending through the substrate of not less than about 10 mm a bonding layer overlying a surface of the substrate, and abrasive grains contained within the bonding layer. | 12-31-2009 |
20090041983 | ABRASIVE ARTICLE WITH ADHESION PROMOTING LAYER - An abrasive article includes a backing having a major surface, an adhesion promoting layer overlying the major surface of the backing, and a make layer directly contacting the adhesion promoting layer. The adhesion promoting layer has a thickness of at least about 10 microns and is formed of a polar thermoplastic material, a cross-linkable polymer, or blends thereof. | 02-12-2009 |
20090036027 | Automated detection of characteristics of abrasive products during use - A method of processing an article with a coated abrasive product, including a repeat of a single marking, comprises detecting at least two characteristics of the repeat of a single marking. The repeat is placed along the length of the abrasive product at a first major surface, wherein each of the detected characteristics conveys independent information regarding the abrasive product. The method further includes comparing the information to a database. A method of acquiring information of the coated abrasive product includes detection and comparing steps. | 02-05-2009 |
20090029628 | Abrasive products with splice marks and automated splice detection - A coated abrasive product, comprising a first section and a second section, the first and the second sections being continuously joined together by a splice. The first section includes at least one first splice mark adjacent to the splice, wherein the first splice mark is a marking or a cluster of markings. A method of processing an article with such a coated abrasive product, and a method of acquiring information of such a coated abrasive product, respectively, includes detecting at least one characteristic of at least one first splice mark of the first section of the abrasive product, and comparing the detected characteristic to a database, wherein the detected characteristic of the first splice mark conveys approach of the splice and the end of the first section. The method of processing an article further includes providing a signal to skip the splice to thereby prevent the article being processed with splice area of the abrasive product. A method of preparing such a coated abrasive product includes forming the first and the second sections of the abrasive product. | 01-29-2009 |
20080250725 | Pulpstone for Long Fiber Pulp Production - Pulp production techniques are disclosed. In one embodiment, pulpstone segments are provided, that include proppant grits in the place of some or all of the conventional abrasive typically used in pulpstone applications. The proppant or proppant-abrasive mixture can be combined into a three-dimensional matrix supported by a vitrified bond. Alternative embodiments use proppant grits in an organic bond or a metal bond or a cement bond (each of which may also include abrasive grits in addition to proppant grits). The proportion of proppant grits to abrasive grits can be varied to produce pulp of varying fiber length distribution as required by the end-user (e.g., paper mill). The greater the proppant concentration, the less cutting of the fibers by the conventional abrasive will occur, producing a greater percentage content of longer fibers. Such pulp produces higher quality paper. | 10-16-2008 |
20080222967 | BONDED ABRASIVE ARTICLE AND METHOD OF MAKING - A bonded abrasive article is provided that includes abrasive grains within a bond matrix, the abrasive grains including cubic boron nitride (cBN) and the bond matrix including a polycrystalline ceramic phase. The bonded abrasive may have a Modulus of Rupture (MOR) of not less than about 40 MPa. Certain embodiments may have porosity, such as greater than about 5.0 vol %. | 09-18-2008 |
20080222965 | BONDED ABRASIVE ARTICLE AND METHOD OF MAKING - A bonded abrasive article is provided which includes abrasive grains made of cubic boron nitride within a bond matrix including a silicate. The bonded abrasive further includes a reaction product at the interface between the abrasive grains and bond matrix comprising a transition metal nitride. | 09-18-2008 |
